Plus, everyone around the country wants to be where the bay is right now. We are shinnin' right now. Cats in the bay did their thing way before the hyphy movement and all that shit and they will continue to do it after the hyphy movement and the hype dies.
LOL!Yeah, im sure all them South cats wanna take a step DOWN from their sold out shows in big arenas, continuous spins on MTV, BET, and every major radio station in the country, and fat houses and nice whips....JUST so they can be where the Bay is RIGHT NOW.

BTW-Where is the Bay right now?

Listen to what Dutch is saying.

How about because most shit comming out of cali has wack ass beats and wack lyrics. Game does really well. Snoop does really well, Dre Does really well. Why? Because they have dope production and can actually rap. Better than 99% of these wack ass bay cats with corny triton video game beats. Most people already think the west is corny as hell. It doesnt help that most bay cats are on some hyphy bullshit.
Did you say that Snoop and Dre "can actually rap"???Oh my good LORD please tell me you were drunk and high when you had this thought. Even Game isnt all that great.

You are HALF right. You wanna get famous? Just have a nice beat that gets played in the club...it has ZERO, ZILCH, NADA to do with having "tight lyrics".

How many "tight lyrics" do you hear on your nationwide top 40 radio station? Exactly. Everyone wants to down on the South for having shitty lyrics, yet they the ones makin bank.

Ask Mike Jones how his bank account looks...im sure he is doing just fine.

Ya'll suffer from low self esteam....If you don't wan't to sell albums then stop makin' music.....Just because you don't see cats on BET don't mean they ain't doin' it...Why every couple of days someone comes up with a depressing thread about how The Area ain't gonna be this and that...Ya'll need to talk to a psychologist and work your issues out and get ya self-esteam game up cause ya'll sound like some suckas...

Great read Dutch. I'm glad you take the time to put things into real prospective to the adults on this board. Some of these lil kids without parental guidence dont know how to act and react when grown folks are sitting around the table talking about grown folks issues.

Children this is a discussion on geography and economics at its finest. If you suffer poorly at paying attention this is not for you!!! If you are in school and you are familiar what the subjects are then this is very useful information so soak game so to speak.

I heard dutch got punked by aston kutcher, but thats for another thread....

here we go. dont know how to tell you this, but this is why the bay area is the hardest place to blow up.

1. if you get in your car, and drive for 6 hours you can be in l.a. or just about 3-4 hours shy of portland. you can be half way to vegas "a tourist town" not really built for selling records, but a great place to visit, or reno (see vegas on a mini level). if you live in philly, jersey, new york, atlanta, nashville, houston, new orleans, kansas city or any other decent sized market, and get in your car and drive 6-8 hours in any direction you will touch 3-6 states. they say you can go new york to florida in 10-15 hours. SO BASICLY THE WHOLE EASTERN SEA BOARD! california alone is a 10-12 drive and you only have 2 major markets. i mean fresno and bakersfeild are cool for small indie grind, but no real numbers can come from there. so even l.a. has pheonix, tucson and all of new mexico being shared with texas. all within that days drive. THIS PROOVES THE FACT THAT THE REST OF THE MSUIC BUSINESS LOOKS AT US AS REGIONAL BECAUSE WE ARE BASICLY ON OUR OWN ISLAND. WE HAVE BASICLY GEOGRAOHICLY PLACED OURSELVES AS FAR FROM NEW YORK, OOOPS, I MEAN SUCCESS IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS AS POSSIBLE! CONGRADULATIONS WE HAVE FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHY THEY STEAL FROM US AND NEVER GIVE BACK. THEY DONT HAVE TOO! WE ARE IRRELEVANT! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA i love this. why im not sure, but fuck it i love it anyways!

you pile indie label on top of indie label, broke as fuck with no real hit making capablity right here in the bay and you get what we (bay area labels and rappers) are. a bunch of copy cat, broke, shadows of our old self. with no selling power. it now boils down to what street cred? hahahahahahahahah that and .50 cents will get you a cup of coffee at def jam, universal and or interscope. oh and it will also get you anywhere from probation to life in prison! so have at it! we have 3-5 bonified clicks in the bay area who are finacially successfull on even the smallest scale. smallest scale being 3-4 releases a year which sale 10-20,000 units a peice. (not including E-40 and Too-SHort) and i guess you can throw Baby Bash in that too) cause the days of any rapper NOT just bay rappers selling 100,000 indie ARE OVER! THEY WILL NOT BE BACK. SORRY.

i hate typing, but ill be back with more reasons. trust me i have about 30 as to why failure may be the only option! hahahahahahahahaha

let the hate begin you fuckers dont scare me!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahahahah

i think a good amount of people think bay area cats are too arrogant for their own good, this can affect their opinion in our music and artist.

@CMP...What seperates that book from the one JT wrote and the 17 million "How to make it in the industry" books for sale? Not disrespectin your hustle homie, just curious to why we should invest? The only advertisement I see is a couple well established Bay rappers (who blew up long before that book came out) holding it up. So we send u 25$ and that book solves all of our problems? Tell us about it!
the main site for the book is located at www.musicpowers.com
as far as comparing the book side by side with the book Jt The Bigga Figga wrote on the music industry,i cannot compare because i have not read his publication. however with music powers what seperates the book from the countless other "how to" resource guides that its dialog is not complex and it is easier to read,it was written primarly for upincoming artist/producers and writers who have more talent then money. the book is not primarily aimed at the pop and rock culture like the other books out on the market. i have spent alot of money on music industry books, and it seemed to me that it wasnt really cattered for the artist in true need,it seemed to always refer to those trying to pursue the pop genre.

Music powers intoduces exlcusive interviews and advice from some of the biggest artist/producers and executives in todays rap and rnb industry.

yes thats the same dj toomp who yal all saw with quinn in the youtube video....the number 1 company. whom im proud to say im involved with.alot of these people can be reached by emails...the bay is not dead,if iam able to make connections like this, then any of you should be able to do the same and more......i work for them to help push a great cause.its not about the money for me - thats not why i took part of this project,i did because i have gained so much knowledge from the man himself and the boo that i had to get it out here in the bay area for all the indie artist and producers and what have you....

they are willing to come out here and do summits/seminars and book signings, ive asked them plenty of times. if the bya area accepts this book out here they will have no problem doing seminars out here and bringing with them some of the highly successful people in the industry today. like i said....invest in your future, but more importantlyy invest in your self

and for those that love statistics and facts read this (direct quote from article)

The business (music) has earned more new revenue between 2004-2006 than ever before. The RIAA has called the file sharing of music "a public raping." They claim that piracy has cut sales by almost 30% over the last few years, and yes,any fool can see that file sharing has affected the business. But has it been in a negative way? Has it really cost the labels "Big Money" and is the business really suffering because of it?

No quite the opposite. I'll Tell you a secret: Revenue is not really down at all.. In 2005, album sales were 618 million units. In 2006 tey dropped to 588 million. a 5% drop. not 30%. not even 10%. Extremely negligible, and better than industries (like computer and automobiles) that have experienced bigger reductions in gross revenue. Okay. I hear you out there reading this. You're saying "But 5% a year adds up. doesnt that mean they've lost money and isnt that a bad thing?" No, because that 5% is more than made up for. the Warner music group said in their annual repot that recorded music sales for the fiscal year 2006 rose almost 3%, to 3$billion,and that digital revenue had more than offset the drop from cds
quote takin from EQ mag.....

there is alot more to it

it goes on to talk abut how the RIAA doesnt include cd sales of indie artist, but only a decline in sales of titles on major labels. or the sales of paid downloads from itunes or yahoo emusic and many others or licensing fees for getting a hit song on a soundtrack....

it gets deep,

and whats more is that alot of this information is avaible to the public, but it takes effort from people like music powers and others to combined it all and package it up so u wont have to spend countless hours researching...

None of this means anything. The Bay Area is the 4th largest music consuming market in the country and thats a fact. Good music is what sells. All that other bullshit is errelevant. And this is comin from somebody in the industry at a major label (warner bros) not no hear say like 99% of the bullshit that is posted on here.

and CMP ill buy the book when you can name ONE rap start or producer or anyone makin good money in music that got thier career from a book.....

fact of the matter is there is no recipe....guideline.....book....or instruction on how to be successfull.....it jus happens when its meant to be and the person really wants it......
