real bay niggaz have innate hustle skills, they dont need a major label or any of that mainstream shit. All they need is a wealthy network, and that exists in the bay.

Plus, everyone around the country wants to be where the bay is right now. We are shinnin' right now. Cats in the bay did their thing way before the hyphy movement and all that shit and they will continue to do it after the hyphy movement and the hype dies.

What do you expect, 1,000 rappers to make it? The market is already oversaturated. .

New York ATL and Houston etc all have like 1000 aspiring rappers too hasn't stopped them, even their clown ass rappers like that fool Mims and the Walk it out dude blew up so that shit don't mean anything. It all boils down to the fact that us as fans don't support our favorite artists enough even on our home turf. Maybe if 90% of yall got the fuck offa limewire and mouphious and went to the store and bought some albums then maybe guys like Quinn, Mess etc would have a better chance. I don't think the fact we live in a big ass state means shit. Those fools in Texas are doing their thing and they blew up by having the ability to push major units independantly. Houston is a 5 hour shot from New Orleans to the east and like 4 hours away from san antonio in the other direction in between there really ain't shit, besides Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Lake Charles.

Cali has like 3 or 4 major metropoliton areas, The Bay is gigantic, LA is even bigger, Sac is pretty big and I never been there but I'm sure the Dago area is huge too. The fact that the Major rappers in the bay besides e-40 and too Short are lucky to sell 10000 copies is wack, something just aint right.

It all boils down to lack of real support from the fans, not enough album sales and sorry turnouts for shows. I never been to a bay area concert before but i've been told that they are usually pretty lame. You get like 20 guys on stage all singing the song where the original track is being played over the PA while 20 guys are rapping over it. I wouldn't pay 25 bucks for some lame shit like that. Our biggest label pretty much put out nothing but really shitty CDs that ain't even mixed right half the time, recycled tracks and verses cut rate production. Gee I wonder why the bay ain't back, our top selling guys are both pushin 40 plus and sucking on to a movement that they didn't have nothing to do with till the shit got hot regionally. I think Fab was our last hope for mainstream success and they put his video offa MTV and pushed his album back, that shit don't look good.

Maybe if the right people catch on to non bandwagoners like Quinn and the Mob Figs the bay might get another shot but by then all those fools will be like 35 and will miss their shot. Fuck it though as long as i still like the music i'll continue to support the shit. I don't buy albums cuz someone is a superstar

now i'll just wait till the next "this is why the bay won't blow up" thread comes out. Never stopped Metallica, Green Day and Carlos Santana and countless other rock acts from selling out stadiums and selling millions of albums

I think it makes perfect sense what he is saying. No sense and clowning Dutch for making a statement. You can disagree, yes. But why bring up who got punked by who and how many records El-mo from the Sco shipped last week? Dont have nothin to do with this topic or the point that was being made. Thats why alot of you cats rap careers only exist on this board. Soak it up regardless of if u agree or not and move on. An independent 65k dollars in sales or profit a year from rap (which is about 10k record sales yearly) is no career in the Bay ya'll. Not in music or any other 9 to 5. Remember where we live. If you aint makin at least 100k a year then you aint buyin no house, havin no fam, drivin no car and eatin no food. This is the BAY!

@CMP...What seperates that book from the one JT wrote and the 17 million "How to make it in the industry" books for sale? Not disrespectin your hustle homie, just curious to why we should invest? The only advertisement I see is a couple well established Bay rappers (who blew up long before that book came out) holding it up. So we send u 25$ and that book solves all of our problems? Tell us about it!

The only good thing to come out of all these " home alone" rappers oversturating the music game is to use you fuckin head and get creative of something else to make money, clothes, poster making. And don't count on these entertainment ways to pay your bills, get a real job 1st, than fuck around with whatever you think will be successful.

Cali in total is a huge market and a lot of outa state artist sell units here.

But there is a difference I just bought a house in Texas el paso exact. We 8 hours from vegas alberqueqe phenox tucan san Antonio.Denver and like 10 hours from like houston and some other major areas

I think people in the bay are smarter with downloading I came out here and I been meeting people with dial up still taken an hour to load a song. People out here also seem to have more pride in there artist and willing to drop money on a CD the bay is sadly not like that.

Okay, There is nothing new under the sun, those reasons have been discussed for years. Whats the point of the post? Lets come up with some solutions while we are pointing out reasons why "_______" will fail with his or her album.

How about because most shit comming out of cali has wack ass beats and wack lyrics. Game does really well. Snoop does really well, Dre Does really well. Why? Because they have dope production and can actually rap. Better than 99% of these wack ass bay cats with corny triton video game beats. Most people already think the west is corny as hell. It doesnt help that most bay cats are on some hyphy bullshit.

It has nothing to do with us being Isolated. St Louis is a far worse market than out here and Nelly does huge numbers. Too short The Luniz and E40 have moved major units. Its just that nothing out here is worth a shit anymore.

i agree with most of what you said but better production alone is not gonna do it thats for damn sure.. not enough business minded rappers in the bay not enuff rappers willing to put in work and really grind.. and the whole rapgame in general is hella corny i dont know about that most people think the west is corny shit..

take into account is that many of the markets that the bay moved units in are now locked. we were the first to get on the road and independantly push rap records and we were first on the scene. when bay cats would go to new orleans, arkansas, missouri, oklahoma, ohio, etc..., we were their first taste of rap. them places 10-15 years ago did not even listen to rap. louisiana was on bounce, the upper midwest was house. in michigan the black clubs played techno. and luke was king. 40 and master p and others paved the way and them regions jumped on the bay tough and we was shining all accross america and getting money. well them areas developed their own scenes and local heroes. then clear channel made all stations play the same music. other stations only began playing the hot local and the major label artist. but our radio is more open for out of area artist. that is why you can have gucci mane and crime mob, who is really just regional artist in atlanta, get crazy play in the bay. so many of those guys can get on the radio in their towns and be on the radio here as well that they can move bigger units so they are more attractive to the majors and the big investors

the bay has to make a major change in the way they do business in order to beat the odds that are stacked against them. They need to get noticed not just in the bay but in the east coast. It seems to me that if a rapper gives some sort of thanks in there single to new york, they make it big. It just seems that the hip hop world is bias.
