"anything a monkey can't eat he'll shit on"
right.
in other words. alotta niggas when they don't understand a thing they shit on it (figuratively of course). Even if it is a hand out or i way to come outta the slump.
TRUE! A lot of times they DONT understand because of FEAR.
two words pride and arrogance.
I agree.
the black mans/womans plight is his self induced stereotype perpetuating pathology.
I understand what you are saying and i agree to an extent. i also believe that others are responsible as well.
racial demographics can be changed by just not being an expected statistic. teach a nigga to diversify his mindstate and mannerisms and you'll change the demography.
i agree with this also. you MUST expand, travel, READ and learn. *READING* is something black people (especially young black males) will SHUN. thats why im ALWAYS on my nephews. READ, READ, READ! exercise your brain because it helps you in the long run. DONT look at it as "punishment".
pulldown theoy. "if I rise to the top you'll pull me donw because either
a) you're trying to get where I am regardless of what consequences it can hold for both of us.
b) you're trying to get where I am becasue I'm there.
c) you don't want anyone to surpass you.
true.
these are unproductive habits shared by degenerate ass niggas.
LMAO!
this is the problem of the with when niggas finally realize something is good either for them or to them its too late because EVERY body does it at the same time.
THATS REAL TALK.
i.e. why Cali (in the big picture) fell off on the music tip. and i.e. Specifically Sacremento Rap ain't what it used to be.I know I'm on a Tangent but It used to be a few Sac rappers that you could just dig and choose who's the best. but now there are like 10 "blocc" rappers that have put out albums consecutively within a 6 month period. who has opportunity to eat when everyone is trying to eat at the same time? this is why Major labels time and push back releases. suntin to think about. but as I said niggas are flooding the market with too many personal projects which thins the money pot [side note watch ol dudes theory in a beautiful mind].
the time for master p flooding (saturating the market) and 50 trillion compilations has come to a screeching halt. major labels have sucked up indie labels and mmade them pawns and puppets. its cool to deal with a major label but when you dont own your publishing or masters something is wrong. which brings me to this point.
minorities make up apprx 90% of the music biz but dont control/own 10% of the wealth. you have a few people like L.A. REID, RUS SIMMONS, PUFFY,MASTER P and SUGE KNIGHT who actually OWN a piece of empire they started. why cant they own it ALL? why cant blacks open up pressing plants, graphics plants, major studios and distribution companies?
another thing about the music biz is that people dont take the TIME to READ, RESEARCH and APPLY. If you claim to be a rapper you should be able to tell me the diffference between a dynamic and condensor mic. i dont want to hear "i dont know all i do is rap". thats YOUR "instrument" you SHOULD and MUST know everything about it. it will save you TIME and MONEY!
if you are a rapper you should understand form pa and sr. if someone asks you about copyrights and registration dont say "i let my folks handle that" or "i sent it to myself i used the poor mans copyright". why dont YOU handle YOUR business interests the CORRECT way?
"LAZINESS WILL KILL YOU" my great grandma used to always say that. as a child i didnt know what she meant. now i do.
when the area is saturated with product you can do one of three things.
1.MOVE to a DIFFERENT area which has NOT been exploited.
2.REFINE your product and be more SPECIFIC in your "target audience".
3.keep doing the same thing for the rest of your career. put out an album every 6 months, get a deal from a janky distributor and pray (if you believe in prayer) that everything works out.
so how do we change the stupidity in the music biz amongst black people? change the mindset (especially business mindset) AND topics that are rapped about or discussed in song.
JFK library in vallejo has the LARGEST inventory of MUSIC BOOKS (compared to other libraries in the bay) relevent to BUSINESS and "how to do". we have A LOT of rappers in vallejo but when we had a music seminar (
www.artistpro.com planned and sponsered the event) not ONE black artist (outside of myself) showed up. SAD. all this *FREE* knowledge gets passed up. the panel consisted of BEHIND THE SCENES people (people who serve on the grammy board, book publishers, lawyers, music teachers and engineers). after the seminar i met 5 "big wigs",handed out material, received cards and have been in CONSTANT contact with the most important of the 5.
in my opinion a lot of up and coming black artist didnt show up because
1.it had to do with a library and reading (im serious)
2.the people behind the event were NOT well known (to those outside of the BUSINESS spectrum).
now compare that to the event at the omegas boys club in vallejo. they had 2 A&R reps from def jam, b-legit and richie rich. about a thousand negroes showed up with cd's ,flyers etc etc etc. i was probably the ONLY person in the crowd that asked RELEVENT questions. after the event i talked to Rich about piracy. after the convo was over i bounced. as i walked out i saw flyers,cd's that were left behind and stickers. im GLAD i didnt bring any product, cards etc etc etc. why network or pass out material when hundreds of other cats are doing the same thing?
blacks DO associate with NAME. more so than ANY other race and its been PROVEN. black people are more prone to buy name brand products than any other race (i listed the statistics in another "black" thread). so in this case it HAD to be the name game.
