Damn that sucks. All that work. But I think we all saw that coming. I literally said to my friend "watch, Silva is going to get his leg up on his shoulder and it's done", seconds before it happened. The way Sonnen was just sitting there waiting for the clock to expire. Fuck. I gotta give it to the guy, he talked an enormous amount of shit and for the most part, backed it up.

Now, I've obviously never been in a fight of this magnitude, and I've never been choked in a real fight, so it's really easy for me to say this BUT if I've put in that much work against one of the best fighters in history for the championship belt, I'm going to sleep. There's no way I tap. Again, it's really easy for me to say this but shit, even Baroni would agree.

that's what I told my brother I would have went to sleep after all that shit talk but homie fought his ass off he needs a rematch asap

anderson had a flawed gameplan. sonnen controlled the whole fight and still looked like he was the one who took most of the damage. 80% of the blows he was throwing while on the ground were totally ineffective; except as maybe a distraction. He got to comfortable and got caught slippin. I guarantee anderson will never let that happen to him in a fight again, he is way to smart of a fighter.

I agree, with the way this fight went down, a rematch should be in order. Especially when you consider the remaining competition (although I still want to see a match against Belfort). But what I'm wondering is, if Sonnen doesn't land those first round shots that dazed Silva, does the rest of the fight happen the same way? If not, and he doesn't land those shots early in the next fight, it could be over pretty quick. But I can't say one way or the other. Sonnen appeared to have his way against Silva throughout the fight.

SONNEN SCORED WAAY MORE POINTS, DROPPED HIM AFEW TIMES, BUT COULDNT DO DAMAGE ON THE GROUND. HIS FACE STILL ENDED UP LOOKIN TWICE AS BAD AS SILVA'S. THOSE LITTLE RABBIT PUNCHES JUST GAVE SILVA TIME TO REST

THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY CHAEL TALKIN SHIT ABOUT ANDERSON HAVING A BJJ BLACKBELT FROM THE NOG. BROTHERS, BUT THEN HE GETS SUBMITTED LOL.

HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN JUST TRYIN TO PUMP UP THE FIGHT. BUT ALL THAT SHIT HE TALKED ABOUT SILVA, PLUS THE BULLSHIT SAID ABOUT LANCE ARMSTRONG, HE LOOKS LIKE A COMPLETE ASS RIGHT NOW

P.S. LETS NOT FORGET THAT SILVA HAD AN INJURED RIB IN THIS FIGHT.

IF THEY HAVE A REMATCH AND SILVA IS 100%, HE'S GONNA WIN AGAIN. HES NOT GONNA BE ALL SLOW AND SLOPPY LIKE HE LOOKED IN THIS FIGHT

i dont think he tapped from the triangle choke. i think he tapped when silva turned it into an armbar. there's a BIG difference as far as tolerance between those two.

what a fucking fight. a rematch right away would be bullshit. chael lost fair and square and was finished. it doesnt matter how many rounds you win you got to go the distance to take it with that style. anderson beat him and props to him.

exactly. i knew something was wrong cause he didnt even want to try and feel chael out. he went right in and tried quickly to finish and that ultimately was the reason why the fight was the way it was for 4 rounds. he wasnt fighting the way he fights and it showed something was wrong

Yup.

See Werdum vs Fedor for reference :lick:

Part of me thinks he fought like that on purpose. He was just standing there taking the shots like they were nothing for the ENTIRE fight. Even after he got dropped in the 1st, he was just taking the shots and not even trying to dodge them. He did that when he fought Jorge Rivera, too.

Silva is on another level of combat

that fight was fucking retarded. There's a really easy way to beat Sonnen: have an active guard, and Anderson waiting for the 23rd minute or whatever that was feels like he actually planned on doing that the whole time. I don't want a rematch, just let Anderson fight Vitor and if you want Sonnen to get another shot have him fight anyone not named Maia or Palhares.

Everyone's talking shit about luck and immediate rematches and how Sonnen was easily winning and yadda yadda yadda. Fact is this, Anderson did the most important thing you can do to guarantee yourself a win in any fight, in any combat sport you can think of, and that's finish it.
