i refused to pay money for anderson silva fights after the last couple. looks like i missed a decent one.

Everyone's talking shit about luck and immediate rematches and how Sonnen was easily winning and yadda yadda yadda. Fact is this, Anderson did the most important thing you can do to guarantee yourself a win in any fight, in any combat sport you can think of, and that's finish it.

Thats the thing about Sonnen. He never tries to finish, he just stays on top for the whole fight. He could have went for a KO from on top and ended it in the 4th. The way he postured up in Silva's body triangle in the 5th round was retarded, he just gave him that arm bar.

It the combination of a triangle choke and an armbar, but at the end turned into more of an armbar because of the angle he was at.

This. I didn't see what other people saw. I saw a man who just stood there and took shots, pretending to get rocked and let his opponent take him down. You guys really think Chael rocked Anderson? Yeah fucking right. Go watch his previous fights(especially his fight with jorge rivera) or some of his sparring sessions with big Nog where nog is teeing off on Anderson who has no head gear on and he's not even phased. Dude has a granite chin. When was the last time you saw Anderson as sloppy and reckless in the stand up? Never. I think Anderson is just bored with MMA or something.

i dont think your right at all. i think he was being reckless cause he was rushing himself due to the hurt ribs. and he was eating chael's punches cause he knew he could. how many did he eat and barely got a mark on him. he knew he could so he wasnt even gonna bother to try and block em since they were doing no significant damage. if you think he's sick of his mma career then why go in with a hurt rib? and it shows in the triangle replay the pain it took for him to finish that. i honestly think he really wanted to come in and get a sub like he said in the post fight. this was the 1st time he came out in his bjj suit with blackbelt so i think he was testing himself more than anything and at this point in his career when he's basically unbeatable you have to test yourself and prove to yourself why your the best and maybe thats exactly what he did lastnight.

It's crazy how Hughes' ridiculous submission over a real deal blackbelt gets lost because of how dramatic the main event was. I get what you're saying, but I just don't understand how Chael Sonnen, who doesn't hit harder than Hendo, Patrick Cote, Big Nog, etc, was able to drop Silva. Anderson has taken shots from all these dudes that hit waaaay harder and didn't even flinch. He was getting dropped left and right in this fight. I saw a gif posted on sherdog earlier where Chael doesn't even land, but Silva still drops. I don't know if his rib was bothering that much, but seemed weird to me.
