see i completely disagree with this instant rematch bullshit for chael. i mean it wasnt like anderson won by a bullshit decision, he finished the guy and no matter what happened in that fight chael lost and he should have to rebuild his way up like everyone else and get a shot after beating up atleast 2-3 people IMO. i'm wondering wheres the respect of BJJ? people say it was lucky but chael gave up his wrist control and doing that always ultimately leads to a triangle specially when the person has a black belt in BJJ. Chael lost and thats that, no way he didnt lose so dana should cut the bullshit and be fair and make chael fight more fights before rematch

Chael will get subbed again in the rematch. Most of the people campaigning for it are newer fans of his and don't know his history of getting subbed by anyone who has a guard. I haven't been making this shit up the whole time lol, the guy has no submission defense and isn't going to get it overnight training at Quest with Lindland. Since his return to the UFC he's been in 3 serious sub attempts. He got triangled by Maia and Anderson and just barely made it out of Marquardt's guillotine

your logic has no place in a conversation with newer fans and morons.

Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen Rematch Planned for January or February UFC
Posted by Kris Karkoski on Aug 24, 2010 at 7:00 am ET30 Comments

Chael Sonnen will get another shot at UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva, as an immediate rematch of the UFC 117 headliner is in the works for January or February.

According to the LA Times’ Lance Pugmire, the matchup could headline the UFC’s traditional New Year’s event in early-January or may be pushed back to February’s Super Bowl card depending on Silva’s recovery from a rib injury.

At UFC 117 on Aug. 7, Sonnen delivered on his pre-fight promise to challenge the champ and dominated Silva for four-and-a-half rounds only to be submitted in the final minutes of a “Fight of the Year” contender.

With the comeback win, Silva (27-4) has now won 13-straight, including 12-0 in the UFC, while Sonnen (24-11-1) had previously won three in a row.

The news comes one day after middleweight contender Vitor Belfort announced that he would return in November, but wouldn’t be fighting Silva as previously expected.

yeah im not a fan of the immediate rematch either. but i think its just because dana knows that it will sell real well and get good numbers for their big new years or superbowl weekend ppv. it will sell better than the vitor-sliva fight since he is less well known to the casual fan.
