some interesting stuff. Pacquiao still hasn't signed the contract with Margarito and as of today, he's still calling out Floyd Mayweather to fight him in November. With the Don King shit going on with Floyd, and the information that has been revealed that King is offering floyd a $100 Million dollar guaranteed 4-fight contract, I don't know what to expect..

Manny Pacquiao's Baiting of Mayweather Uncharacteristic

By Ronnie Nathanielsz

Pound-for-pound king and “Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao has been quoted in a statement attributed to him, challenging Floyd Mayweather Jr and veteran promoter Don King with whom the undefeated Mayweather has been spending several days in Florida to “get it on.”

In the statement which contrasts with the usual humble tone and demeanor of Pacquiao, he issues a challenge to both Mayweather and King “Fight like warriors and brave men. I am the champion, I have the belts and I should not be the one challenging you. I should not even be the one trying to make this fight happen.”

In his regular column in the Filipino tabloid Abante, Pacquiao said that although there is no formal agreement between Mayweather and Don King he hopes Mayweather “ is serious enough in doing business with Don King and is not doing this only to save face. I hope Don King does the same in return, that he can make miracles happen.”

Pacquiao mentioned that a fight with Mayweather “is what everyone wants, that's why I am calling out your names. My promoter Bob Arum will be waiting for your call and will be very glad to hear what you have to say. The sooner, the better.”

Continuing in a vein so uncharacteristic of him Pacquiao went on to note that a lot of things can happen within three months and “if Mayweather is not really a coward, he needs to prove himself in the ring. I gave in more than what is necessary and I accepted some of the requests that Mayweather asked for just to have this fight go through. For now, Antonio Margarito of Mexico is the likely replacement of Mayweather in November 13, but for me, there is nothing more beautiful news if the Mayweather camp will change its mind. And I am sure boxing fans or any other sports fans will follow this very closely.”

In conclusion Pacquiao whose column was translated by Greg R. Penilla M.D of philboxing.com said the only way for Mayweather “to save face” is by fighting him adding “ Make the fight happen in November and stop using Mr. Don King for publicity stunts. He claims he is the best. He says he is No. 1. There is only one way to prove his greatness and that is to face me. I should be ready by November.”

While the statement appeared in a column under Pacquiao’s name, sportswriters who know Pacquiao well realize that at times he merely verbalizes or scribbles an outline and a ghost-writer does the rest. Given recent history it seems that a ghost-writer has taken liberties with Pacquiao's basic statement.

No, I think Arum is realizing that no one is going to buy this fight. He knows that if he has low PPV numbers, he will lose all leverage for a 50-50 split with Mayweather. They called Mayweather's bluff last time and he did a million PPV buys with Mosley. Now Mayweather is testing Pac-man's star power. Let's see how this is going to play out.

^^^ I think plenty of people will still buy this fight. There are a lot of Manny Pacquiao fans who want to see him win again, a lot of people who don't like Margarito and want to see him lose, and a lot of people who hate on Pacquiao and want to see him lose. Even if it doesn't sell as much as Mosely vs. Mayweather I don't believe he will lose leverage for the 50-50 split because they both need each other for the fight to be as big as it's going to be. And if I remember correctly, I read somewhere that the Mosely/Mayweather fight was the highest promoted fight of all time and the fight only did about 1.4 million buys.

You can believe whatever you want to believe. No one is going to buy this fight. You're telling me you would pay $50 to see Stone-Hands get beat-up again?? This is a HBO fight not worth PPV. This fight is BS and everyone knows it. If Pac-man does not do a million PPV buys, then he will have no leverage. He will have to take the random drug test and 60-40 split no questions asked.

If Pacquiao vs David Daiz was PPV, this deserves it too.
If Floyd vs Marquez was PPV, this deserves it too.
If Sugar Shane Mosley vs Sergio Fuckin Mora is PPV, this deserves it too.

And it will sell at the very minimum 700,000 PPV buys. Everyone I know that's into boxing wants to see it. Obviously we all want to see Pac vs Floyd but if that's not going to happen, I'd rather watch Pacquiao fight, and pay, then not to see him fight at all for the rest of the year (like floyd). On top of that, if they get Donaire vs Montiel on the card, that's an easy ass decision.

Like I said before 700,000 PPV buys, will not get Pac-Man a 50-50 split with Mayweather. Plus he has to beat up Stone-Hands better then old man Mosley already did.

Floyd is pretty stupid for being so inactive. He's 33 years old. By the time he fights again (assuming he wont fight Pac in Nov) he'll be pushing 34. If he signs a four fight deal, at his pace he'll be fighting till he's 37-38. That means we will see the demise of floyd without a question. Stupid.

He took 2 years off in his prime and now he's going to take off another year. That's 3 years he could have been building his legacy, not too mention making a shitload of money. Instead he's only going to get older.

For as smart as he is in the ring, he's kind of a dumbass outside of it.

not sure what make you think that. Floyd cannot make $50+ million against any other fighter but Manny. Same goes for Manny.

In other words, it takes both of them to generate that kind of cash, not one.
