I watched that interview right after that fight and he was fine! I dont know whats "busted up" to you??

and this picture is not from yesterday
I never said he had a broken jaw, but his face was clearly bruised/swollen. Here is a pic from a video after the fight:

You can clearly see his eyes and his lip are messed up, more so than taylors face. And those shots were mainly from taylors jab, which was splitting Abraham's tight guard. People have always said that Taylor has one of the best jabs in the business when he uses it, and he used it well on Saturday night.

I'd like to see some final punch stats from both fights.

Taylor was out working Abraham, and Abraham would literally have 30 seconds or more in between punches. I'm sorry, but landing 4 or 5 good punches just isn't enough to win a round IMO. But definitely more than enough in Germany.

In the Dirrell fight, I wouldn't be surprised if Dirrell outlanded Froch by a 2-1 margin. Froch wasn't hitting shit, which is why he was getting frustrated and resorting to those bullshit tactics.

To me Taylor wasnt outworking Abraham, he was hardly landing much. Abraham wasnt throwing hella combos or anything but he landed way higher percentage in punches and I was getting frustrated watching Taylor not being able to pick him apart and it showed me Taylor is lacking some skills.

Read this part of an article that Heyzel posted its very accurate:

By round twelve the only realistic hope was that Jermain would win a moral victory by actually going the distance – as he did in 2008 when coming back from the first Kelly Pavlik reverse. A huge right hand from Abraham destroyed those hopes, and Jermain Taylor, at 2:54 of the final round. The once-touted American went down heavily and scarily. Retirement is, surely, the only option for Jermain at this point. One fight in and he is, at best, the tournament’s whipping boy. A high-class whipping boy certainly but there can no longer be any hint of expectation surrounding Jermain’s chances.

Check out this non-sense...

I still don't fully understand it, but the round in which they took a point from Dirrell was scored a 10-9 round for Froch?

It should either be 10-8 or 9-9.

Are they saying that all 3 judges had it a 10-10 round (draw) and they made it 10-9?
The chances of that are highly improbable for all 3 judges to do.

You take a point away from a fighter, you don't have to give the opposing fighter another point on top of that.

Maybe it's a European thing....

^^check it out bro, here is the official score cards (they all scored it 9-9):

Obviously the Belgium guy is a retard. But what gets me is the Mexican and Italian judges. Check it they are EXACTLY the same, until the two final rounds, the Italian gave both of them to Froch, which were CLEARLY Dirrell rounds, not even debatable imo those were his best rounds of the fight.

I can't even begin to comprehend the logic behind the scoring.

I look at it like this.
If I was getting paid 1K to judge the fight, and am then offered 15K to submit a controversial decision...I just might take the offer.

Either that, or Euro's judges score it differently and I'm just to used to watching US fights.

I think it's one of those things where the home crowd comes into play. I mean think of the Mayweather vs Oscar fight. Oscar would throw a flurry and mayweather would dodge/block every punch, but the crowd would go crazy every time Oscar would throw punches even if he wasn't landing. One judge that might only see Oscar's backside isn't able to really see Floyd dodge all the punches, all he sees is oscar's backside throwing a bunch of punches and the crowd going crazy...he might score that round to Oscar even though he didn't land shit.

They really need to have like 5 judges or more, maybe 11 or some shit to get more of a balance.

Source: Jermain Taylor out of Super Six

By Nick Walker

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

LITTLE ROCK — Jermain Taylor is down.

But, for now at least, he’s not out of boxing.

Little Rock’s Taylor, the former undisputed middleweight champion of the world, is expected to announce his withdrawal from the Super Six World Classic super middleweight tournament today.

Taylor, 31, was knocked out by Germany’s Arthur Abraham in the 12th round of the opening fight of the tournament Oct. 17, 2009, at the O2 Arena in Berlin.

Th e m ove co m e s amid speculation that Taylor might retire after losing four of his past five fights.

Taylor had been expected to return to the tournament to face WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward at an unspecified location April 17.

Longtime promoter Lou DiBella announced Dec. 11 that he was stepping down from Taylor’s camp because he could no longer “in good conscience” promote Taylor’s fights after the former champ’s third loss by knockout in his past fivefights.

A source close to Taylor said the former champ was asking for a $1 million buyout from his Super Six contract. Taylor was reportedly scheduled to make $2 million for fighting Ward and another $2 million for facing former WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler.

It’s not known if Taylor is receiving any money for stepping down or who his replacement will be.

The likely candidate to replace Taylor in the tournament would be another of DiBella’s fighters, Allan Green. Showtime, which is running the tournament, had listed Green as the first alternate should any of the six boxers be unable to continue.

A source indicated that Taylor would be announcing the withdrawal today and that Taylor would consider fighting again as soon as this fall.

Taylor, manager Al Haymon, publicist Norman Horton, business adviser Andrew Meadors and trainer Ozell Nelson did not respond to repeated messages from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette seeking comment.

Jermain Taylor Withdraws From Super Six Tournament!

LITTLE ROCK- Jermain Taylor (28-4-1, 17KO's) former undisputed middleweight champion has made a decision regarding his future boxing career. Taylor, who was a participant in SHOWTIME Sports World Boxing Classic last fought on October 17th in a losing battle against Arthur Abraham in Berlin, Germany.

"I'm going to take some time off from the sport of boxing and take myself out of SHOWTIME Sports World Boxing Classic tournament. It's important that I give my body and mind some much needed rest, because I have been boxing for nearly 20 years," said Taylor. "I plan on keeping myself in shape and making a return to the sport sometime in the future. This was not an easy decision for me, having discuss it with my family, trainer, friends and my adviser Al Haymon, because I'm a very competitive person-but I know this is the smart road for me to take. I want to thank SHOWTIME Sports for everything and I wish the best for my 5 counterparts who will continue on in the Super Six tournament. Most of all, I want to thank the many fans for their continued support."

Green vs Bika Winner To Fight Andre Ward on 4/17

By Rick Reeno

Promoter Lou DiBella confirmed to BoxingScene.com that the winner of Allan Green vs. Sakio Bika, scheduled for February 5 on Showtime, will face WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward in the second stage of the Super Six tournament on April 17.

Ward had been scheduled to fight Jermain Taylor, who announced his withdrawal from the tournament on Tuesday. Taylor lost four of his last five fights and wants to spend some time with his family. He suffered two brutal knockouts in 2009 at the hands of Carl Froch and Arthur Abraham.

Rumors continue to circulate that Taylor received a buyout from Showtime to walk away from the tournament. DiBella, no longer the promoter for Taylor, was not able to confirm or deny that piece of information. DiBella, concerned with the fighter's health, walked away as Taylor's promoter after the fighter announced his plan to move forward with Ward.

A few insiders are under the impression that Taylor's prior announcement to continue in the tournament was a calculated bluff by Taylor and manager Al Haymon to receive a buyout from Showtime. A very strong rumor when considering the facts: Green-Bika recently announced for Feb 5, Taylor's "timely" decision to withdraw - and Haymon's involvement with Bika.

This fight is going to be sick!

Danish boxer Mikkel Kessler faces off Carl Froch from Britain during their press conference in Herning, Jutland on February 17, 2010. Kessler and Froch will face each other in the Super Six World Boxing Classic in super middleweight division in Herning on April 24, 2010.

big time bummer, just read that Andre Dirrell is pulling out of the fight against Arthur Abraham due to a leg injury in training. The fight will be pushed back to a date unknown at this point.

I actually think Dirrell is going to beat the crap out of Abraham, and I'm thinking about putting some money on it. I think his style is all wrong for Abraham.

Damn that sucks. Yeah, I think that Dirrell has a good style to beat someone like Abraham as well. Although, he did waste a lot of time in the Froch fight (I thought Dirrell was robbed, btw) and gave the judges an opportunity to give Froch points based on activity.

^^yeah, the difference with froch and abraham though is froch applies a lot of pressure whereas abraham doesn't and sometimes hardly throws anything at all for long stretches of time. If this fight was in Germany I would pick abraham by robbery but since it's in the US I'm thinking Dirrell is going to put on a clinic.

Only 3 weeks, not as bad as I was expecting...
Arthur Abraham-Andre Dirrell Postponed To March 27

by Rick Reeno

BoxingScene.com was advised by Chris Meyer, managing director of Sauerland Event, that Arthur Abraham vs. Anrde Dirrell is being postponed to March 27. Dirrell suffered a back injury in training and was unable to move forward with the scheduled date of March 6. The location and venue is still being discussed.

Abraham-Dirrell is the first of three scheduled fights in the second stage of Showtime's Super Six tournament.

Abraham is currently training for the fight in California. According to Meyer, Abraham will likely remain in the United States to continue his training camp and return to Germany following the March fight.

This is big for Dirrell, DETROIT!!!

Dirrell vs Abraham now in Michigan.

Detroit will host its biggest boxing card in nearly a decade when German sensation Arthur Abraham fights Flint’s Andre Dirrell as part of Showtime’s super middleweight tournament March 27.

The fight will be at either Cobo Arena or Joe Louis Arena, co-promoter Carlos Llinas said Thursday.

A formal announcement is expected Friday on what will be the most important fight in Detroit since Mike Tyson-Andrew Golota in 2000.

Abraham (31-0, 25 KOs) is a former International Boxing Federation middleweight champion who moved up eight pounds to participate in Showtime’s tournament, which is a long-term endeavor to unify most of the 168-pound title.

Dirrell (18-1, 13 KOs) was a 2004 Olympic bronze medalist.

“I’m very thankful to be a part of it,” Llinas said. “Hopefully, it will be a boost to Michigan’s economy because Abraham has a great following and those people will be flying to Detroit, renting cars, eating, and going to the fight. Events like these are exactly what Detroit needs to boost the economy.”

The Super Six tournament originally included Abraham, Dirrell, Carl Froch, Mikkel Kessler, Andre Ward and Jermain Taylor.

On the first night of the tournament, last Oct. 17, Abraham’s 12th-round knockout of Taylor, in Berlin, also knocked the former middleweight champion out of the tournament and into career limbo. Allan Green since has been named to replace Taylor in the tournament.

That same night, as part of the same televised program, Dirrell lost a disputed decision in Froch’s hometown of Nottingham, England.

The tournament suffered another mishap when Abraham-Dirrell, originally scheduled for March 6 in California, was postponed last week because of a back injury Dirrell suffered in training.

The tournament format calls for each of the six fighters to compete in three bouts to begin the tournament, with three points awarded for a knockout win, two for a decision win, one for a draw and zero for a loss.

After each contestant has fought his three scheduled bouts, the four fighters with the highest point totals will advance into the single-elimination semifinals, and those two winners will compete in the unification bout.

Each fighter -- except the replacement entrant, Green -- has competed once. In addition to the victories by Abraham and Froch, Ward defeated Kessler by decision in November.

The second group of bouts includes Abraham-Dirrell in Detroit, and an April 24 doubleheader of Green-Ward in Oakland, Calif., and Kessler-Froch in Denmark.

The third group of bouts, later this year, will match Dirrell-Ward, Abraham-Froch and Kessler-Green.

Froch is the World Boxing Council super middleweight champion. Ward holds the World Boxing Association title.

The International Boxing Federation champion, Lucian Bute, is not part of the tournament.

I just put some money down on dirrell, this is easy money!

Dirrell is at +170 to win
Dirrell is at +470 to win inside the distance

Dirrell is about 5 inches taller than abraham and has about a 4-5 inch reach advantage. The fight is in dirrell's hometown, detroit (close decision will go to him).
