Damn, looks like the reviews are mixed.

Are any of the beat knocking like "The Bumble"?

What would y'all compare this CD to his old ones? Is it like "In a Major Way" or like "Charliehustle"??????????????
Basically, if you want the old E-40 sound, buy the old E-40 CD's.
He went with a younger audience of "beatmakers" and few producers and definetely kept it underground. But e-40 makes the album what it is, not the production. Keep that in mind.

There are a few "knockin'" songs that will rattle your trunk. Beat wise? None like The Bumble.

Lyrically? Both. Beat wise? Neither.

The album has a few hyphy songs, the rest are mobb imo.
More like the other way around. Are you sure you know what a "mobb" beat sounds like??? If you're going to sit up here and tell me there are beats on here that sound like Bald Head Nutt by C-BO or Murder By A Lunatic by CIN, then you and I must have gotten two very different albums.

Been listening to E-40 since he first started, this his best work in awhile. When I listen to these cds for the most part it brings me back to the old days of 40 water when he was spittin hard and over out there beats. Definatly dont agree with people acting like this is all jerk or hyphy music. I dont like Hyphy or jerk music and these two album go hard. Not no new jack, 28 years old and own every e40 cd. Loving the work hes done on these cds here.
Dude, both albums are FILLED with "jerk"-type beats (if you even want to call them that). Most of the beats are stripped down, minimal drum beats. In fact, most of the songs are missing high hats! They're just a kick drum and a snare/clap!

I dont understand how people think most of this is hyphy or mainstream sounding, he saying FUCK THE MAINSTREAM on this shit to me, going back to his roots, spitting 90% mobb shit.
Spttin mobb shit and spittin OVER mobb beats are two completely different monsters. He is ripping it on here lyricfally, but the beats aint doin him justice.

It ain't the classic Studio Tone, Sam Bostic, or Mike Mosley mob type beats, but they still come thru to where you can ride to it, and it's not them annoying hyphy beats over and over again.

Lyrically he is killing shit on these.

Everyone got they own opinion, I know tons of old school e40 fans who are loving this cd. This shit doesnt make me say or think the word Hyphy or Jerk when I listen to it. Not his best cd but its extremely well done, especially the lyrics n flow from e40, but the beats are dope to in my opinion. Alot of the beats remind me of GROWING UP off Hall of Game, its on that type of mobb shit. You seem to have a one dimensional view of what mobb production is. The overall feeling I get from this cd is MOBB music, period.. 40 spitting nothign btu mobb lyrics on here and most of the beats fit that, while a few dont, I dont see what the big deal is. 40 water can still rock some songs that have a mobb feel to them without Studio Tone beats or Sam Bostic. Rick Rock and Droope did the damn thing on here, some of the beats might not sound like old shcool mobb sound but its more futuristic mobb sound on a few of em. How is this shit hyphy or jerk? Because there is high bass or some basic elements to some of em? Sure I would like a few more beats like "Things Never Change", "Wolf Tickets" or "DA BUMBLE" but what can ya do.

Im a have to agree to dissagree playa.

These beats are far closer to hyphy than mobb. Like, its not even a competition IMHO. I hear very little mobb influence on here at all. In fact, most of us "older folks" seem to agree on that.

You hear what you want to hear, i guess. But i dont hear anything mobb-y on these albums.

I think folks who love the album are confused about what us folks that dont like the sound of the album I think. THE BARS E-40 SPIT ARE MOBB AND VINTAGE 40, NO PROBLEM THERE. Them beats are what is lacking. Yall taking the mobb feeling of his vocals and the content he is spittin about and applying it to the whole track. we are saying the mobb lyrics dont match this supposed "mobb" beat style. them beats sound too stripped down. once again, LYRICS ARE DOPE AND MOBB, BEATS ARE TOO SIMPLE SOUNDING

"The art of storytellin" aint mobb???? "Aaah shit" aint mobb?? "Teach you how to sell", "Nice Guys", Trained to go", "Prepared" dont slap????? Smack yo' self!

if your not listening to these albums on some subs then save your comments on the production of them album until so. Cuz the shit will make your trunk rattle.
pretty much wut i had 2 du...i kinda figured that though after a couple listens...but i still think it was lazy production assuming how much money could have went into such an anticipated release...oh and the hooks suck too...there were a couple good ones but most of em were like samples or phrases bein repeated hella times...alot of the songs had like the same format...SIMPLE HOOK...FAST LYRICS FOR LIKE A FEW BARS...BREAK...FAST LYRICS FOR A FEW BARS...SIMPLE ASS HOOK

I think I'm going to go with what you have been saying.... we've seen eye to eye before on what that mobb music is supposed to sound like. I think we have the same tastes when it comes to music. I'll check the album out. His last album was terrible.... So the lyrics are tight but the production is still slacking is what I am getting from the replies.

no its someone who agrees with you and your opinion
Look, I am all about being subjective...life is how an individual sees it. But how can you, straight faced, say these beats are anything CLOSE to being mobb??? I really hate ot say your opinion is wrong but homie...these beats are NOT anything close to mobb shit. Not even in the same book...and if you are telling people they are, then you are giving them FALSE info. Period. Especially since most folks on here already have a pre-conceived notion of what a mobb beat sounds like. Thats the ONLY reason I am even still debating this.

Its like recommending a movie to someone and saying its a comedy, when its in fact a drama. Its misleading.
