The production may be weak but 40 spittin on the tracks; as an artist 40 makes the tracks hot. If i had to just knock the beats alone, they'd probably be passed up on. But 40 makes the tracks hot. That's a true artist. And I respect the direction he went with the album. I wasn't feelin it much at all at first, but the more I listened to it in my car with the beat knockin, it's slappin.

honestly dat shit was trash compared to the last 2 he dropped...the production on nightshift was weak...they all sounded the same to me...dayshift had better production, but nightshift kinda fucked up the whole project to me

I got a chance to listen to most of the songs on the albums. Kinda interesting to see droop-e on most of the production, something different. I think it could had been better if he knocked with hella different producers. Regardless of the beats, 40's legendary self murdered on every track.

I think a lot of the hooks were pretty wack. He could had come more lyrical instead being repetitive 1-5 word hooks on most of them. Otherwise, it sounded like he was on some JERKing type music. SMH

Some highlights of the albums:
Keak, Ya boy, Hus, Clyde, Dru Down murdered and gassed on their verses.

Dem Hoodstarz REALLY MURDERED ON THEIR VERSE.

I THOUGHT THEY WERE BOTH HORRIBLE ALBUMS...I LIKED ONE SONG OUT OF BOTH CD'S...AND I CANT EVEN REMEMBER THE NAME OF IT...AND WHAT MADE ME LIKE IT,WAS COUSIN FIK'S VERSE...NOT 40..

I KNO ALOT OF PEOPLE ARENT GONNA AGREE WIT ME ON THIS,BUT I THINK BOTH "BALL STREET JOURNAL" AND "GHETTO REPORT CARD" WERE BOTH WAY BETTER ALBUMS THAN THESE 2...BUT THAT'S JUST MY OPINION.

Hard hitting bass does not = "good beats". Maybe there is a misunderstanding about what folks are saying about "weak beats". The beat is everything from background sounds to the drum kit.
i gotta agree with ya pimp, just cuz its slappin dont mean it goes. I must say, ANYBODY coulda made most of the beats on there with a internet drum kit from google. Most songs start with a kick and clap on solo and then you may have 1 note here or 1 note there. im sorry, thats hella lazy yo and that dont make a beat. and then most of the joints dont even have a melody to them so is this whole album supposed to be like a uptempo long version of "Grindin" by the clipse? E-40 gasses all over them joints thoe so the raps are totally on point, its just that the beats are too stripped down. and if they were supposed to be "Griding" type beats, hell, at least use some drum sounds that arent common (ie 808 kick and clap from the Goldbaby TR-808 drumkit)

lol, im 28 and i love it. Sad thing is 40 is catering to bay fans with the production and folks seem to be unappreciative of it. This album reminds me of a 90's bay album, it doesnt sound mainstream at all.
