40 could put out a whole album where all the beats were just 808 kicks turned up to +6 db and his diehard groupie fans would think it was the greatest shit ever because 40s raps go hard and the beats blow their subs out. Rap music without the beats, would just be spoken word/poetry, most these beats can barely be considered music cause they're so wack. With that being said the only Good song is stillettos and jeans.
Lol, r u a girl?

you know ive listened to both cds prob 6-7 times by now

and theyve grown on me a lot - u guys saying the beats are missing other instruments, 40 IS THE OTHER INSTRUMENT

like, that's what it sounds like he was trying to do... take it back to the old school sound, when the beats were stripped down (i still bump some of that old too short where it's just him and the bassline) and take it back to the rappin / game spittin

ultimately - what e40 should do - is release the ACAPELLAS FOR BOTH THESE CD'S. this is very hard to get a major to do, but he's doing his own shit now, he can do what he wants - i'd love to hear both these cd's remixed and see what people can come up with cuz the raps are on point
great post, the album grew on me aswell after awhile.
And yes a accapella version of this album like Jayz did for Black album would be dope.

I been slappin' Day and Night Shifts all damn day over and over! This might be 40 Water's best project ever and I grew up on his shit since "Federal" and The Clicks' "Down & Dirty" and own all his albums. 40 took this game back to the 90's street and coming raw as fuck wit' it! Every fuckin' cut is slappin' and/or smooth! For the one's that ain't feelin' these albums y'all must be into that Squarism. 110% pure game on these!!!

I'm sorry, but to all you haters of this album, you need to be executed. this album slaps from front to back, except for those gushy love songs, i slap every song. who says the beats need to be all fancy and busy? 40 destroys every single one. i personally think simple beats are better, cuz they showcase the artists abilities, not the producers. yea, its cool to hear beats that shit on the rapper whos spitting on it, but 40 could destroy any beat, and hes shown that on a lot of his albums, so him not having technical beats doesnt mean anything.

It's laughable to me folks call these albums weak yet act like that disappointing lynch album is great when that album was definitely lacking in production and I swear the virus and ebk 4 were better then daam

honestly, i liked both albums. some songs i skipped but overall this album is hard. lyricwise its vintage 40, beatwise it slaps too and it sounds like 40's direction on the beats especially on the night shift were like club type shit. let go and let god is real as fuck tho! everyday is a weekend wit jacka and lightweight jammin wit husalah were sick too. it's too bad those 4 extra tracks weren't on the albums tho.

For you squares talking down on these two albums how could you not even feel the smooth track "Can't Stop The Boss"? I can see how some of you "don't know's" are not feelin' 1/2 or even 2/3 of the 38 slaps on here, but to talk down on the whole 38 is just on some hater shit. Makes me think you square ass nerds are listening to these tracks in your cublicles at work. Premeditated Haterism must be running through your veins! All the real motherfuckers I know that knows their shit are all giving major credit to 40 for "Revenue Retrieven"!

Yeah, this shit is fuckin' dope to me. I couldn't have expected a better album. Only have listened to the day shift so far, but shit gotdamn, I couldn't have asked for a better 2010 e-40 album. I really, really liked grit and grind and breaking news, and felt like the last 2 havent been as good, but to me day shift is as good or better than grit and grind, which is one of my top-10 albums of the decade. On first listen I'd give it a 9.5/10.
