First off I want to say FUCK JOE ROGAN for being so hard on Shogun's nuts.

Now.. You have to look past the announcing, YOU HAVE TOO. They made it seem like Lyoto was getting murdered out there which is BULLSHIT. Dude, all Shogun did was kick his legs.. that is all, the entire fight. Lyoto did that and landed punches. The typical viewer of this fight will buy into what Rogan was saying but fuck that. The entire time he was talking about how amazing Shogun is, how he has a kid on the way, how after each and every kick "ANOTHER KICK OMFGZ@!@". Every time Rogan said that about one of Shoguns body kicks Lyoto was landing an overhand right to the jaw.

This is faulty logic. No one in the audience could hear the announcing and they boo'd the decision heavily. Seems they thought it was a no brainer.

I scored the fight for Shogun but I don't think it was as bad a robbery as most of the people in this thread. There was a lot of close rounds, a lot of good counters on both sides and I wouldn't have been mad if it went either way.

Shogun nullified Machida's MAIN TECHNIQUE (straight left counter) by landing leg and body kicks (and a couple of knees) before the left could get there. Machida wants to parry your measuring punch with his right and catch you with that straight left. Notice how in the 3rd or 4th round Machida realized that shit wasn't working so he switched stances. The only real solid punch he landed was a straight right in the 3rd or 4th and Shogun took it like it was nothing. Shit, they were icing his legs AFTER the first round. You have to assume they were ready for his legs to take a beating.

Even when Machida tried to throw his leaping knees, they did nothing and Shogun immediately clinched. It didn't look like either one of them got rocked but Shogun landed the more effective strikes and demonstrated more Octagon control imo

It's funny how none of that karate shit worked against a fighter with real muay thai skills. Immediate fucking rematch is demanded. Shogun is the true UFC light heavyweight champion. I love both Shogun and Machida, but this is the biggest bullshit in UFC history. I thought Bisping vs Hamill was bad, but this easily tops it.

^Noooooo no no no. This pales in comparison to Bisping/Hamill, sorry. Shogun may have won this fight but it was not by much. The outcome IMO is not far removed from the Forest/Rampage result, which had everone [watching] in favor of Rampage. And the Karate may have not "worked" but it also didn't really fail him. I mean, without it, maybe he hits the mat in the first round.

My question to everyone is, why this result? I don't think the UFC in any way benefits from this because with Shogun as the winner you have a LHW title fight of Shogun vs. Silva which would bring in loads more attention and money as opposed to having Machida remain the champ and fight the next contender. Was it an error in judgement by ALL 3 officials? Is there something more to it?
