maybe 35 wins....................if he had great run support he could have had a 35-0 record because he is that good......................come on guys things eventually even out..................how many other pitchers lost games 1-0........you guys have a run support case with Cain and thats it
maybe so, but the giants did it a lot. they were shutout quite a bit last season.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/l/linceti01.shtml - little timmy

the fuck outta here with that "abuse" theory on timmy. i dont want to hear it. bob gibson averaged more innings over his career then timmy's max. and bobs max innings for a season was 100 more than timmy. bob had a 17 year career. and is talked about as perhaps the best pitcher of all time in some circles. his teams were pretty shitty as well. but if bob gibson can handle it for 17 years... timmy will be fine.

I'm not sure about pablo at third, i'd much rather see him playing first, which would have been the case if they signed crede.

only youngster that will play more, now that crede signed with minnesota, is ishikawa, who's nothing special

I think Pablo will be good wherever he plays. He's going to need to watch is weight though. We dont need two Bengie's truckin around the bases.

lol, comparing lincicum to gibson...................apples and oranges bud......................i could care less about a Giants pitcher...................but as a baseball coach i hate to see a young man (espially with his talent) be abused.....................

Thing is I already know what Crede can do, that is be a .250 hitter with some power. Then he would prolly get hurt half way through the season like he always does.

And how can you say that Ishikawa is nothing special? he hasn't even really gotten a chance to show what he can. If he were to reach his full potential he should at the very least put up Joe Crede numbers.

I for one am tired of the Giants picking up the rest of leagues crap an passing it on like there veteran leadership. no more Micheal tuckers, Marquess Grissom, edgardo alfonzo, Ray Durham players. If the Giants are to be Garbage let be with our garbage. With that said I think the Giants will be pretty fun to watch this year with the line up they have now

Its a young ass team.. people are expecting WAY too much. With what we got right now we can compete in the weak ass NL West, but to get above and beyong that we need a power bat which has been said hundreds of times before. I wish we wouldve gotten Holliday instead of the A's lol. Maybe after?

What game are you more excited for the 1st game of the season with Timmy on the mound or the 3rd game with Randy on the mound? I had my choice of tixs and I took the Randy game. Even tho I will probally end up going to both cuz there is nothing like opening day but I am looking forward to seeing Randy pitch and go for 300 wins in a Giant uni. I already know Timmy will be ok and not pull a Barry (the biggest crook in the bay) Zitto! But I have been watching Randy pitch for years and he is 1 of the pitchers who I dont think I would want to go up there and hit. Here is a great quote from hall of famer George Brett on Randy

Probably the funniest incident involved George Brett. Randy struck out the first two hitters on three pitches, then Brett took the first pitch, a 95 mph fastball, right down the middle for a strike. He steps out and says to the umpire, "You've gotta be kidding me. I don't know how you can say it was right there. When it went by me it SOUNDED a little high."

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Giants believe they'll be worth watching this summer, but their nearest affiliate might be a hotter ticket in April.

Club officials are planning to send all five of the Giants' top-rated prospects, and six of the top seven, to begin the season at Class A San Jose. The list includes pitchers Madison Bumgarner and Tim Alderson, catcher Buster Posey, first baseman Angel Villalona and second baseman Nick Noonan. Other members of last year's strong draft class are expected to join Posey in San Jose, including third baseman Conor Gillaspie, right fielder Roger Kieschnick and shortstop Brandon Crawford.

There will be a legitimate prospect at every position. Outfielders Darren Ford and Thomas Neal are likely to round out the lineup.

They won't be together for long, though. Alderson, who won the ERA title in the California League last year, is returning because Giants officials want to shield their elite prospects from the cold at Double-A Connecticut.

Once the weather warms up in New England, Alderson will be on his way. And others could join him.

"Years ago it was standard that a kid had to master his level, and most of the time, spend the whole year at one spot," Giants General Manager Brian Sabean said. "Now, if you think he's ahead of schedule, it's really incumbent to move him. With the Yankees, we had Bernie Williams (stalled for years) at Double-A. That's not going to happen anymore."

Giants Manager Bruce Bochy is leaning toward putting Fred Lewis in the No. 3 spot in front of cleanup hitter Bengie Molina, with Pablo Sandoval right behind. Bochy originally liked Sandoval batting third, but he acknowledged that Lewis' speed would not be fully utilized if he were to bat fifth.

# Randy Johnson did not throw live batting practice as scheduled, but the Giants said it wasn't because of a physical issue. Johnson mapped out his schedule with pitching coach Dave Righetti, and he plans to throw today.

# A respiratory ailment — "the crud," as Bochy calls it — is making its usual pass through camp. Merkin Valdez, Joe Martinez and Eugenio Velez were sent home early Friday.

Fred Lewis will participate in today's base-running drill, the first time he has run bases since his bunion surgery last season. Bochy still expects Lewis to play in the Cactus League opener against Cleveland on Wednesday. ... Among the Indians expected to throw in Wednesday's game are former Giants Matt Herges and Vinnie Chulk. Jeremy Sowers will start against Tim Lincecum, assuming the flu-ridden Giants right-hander is healthy. ... Bochy said it is unlikely but possible that 18-year-old first base prospect Angel Villalona will play in the intrasquad game.
