i think Lowry is done.. if he doesn't start to show better signs

Lowry misses second straight mound session

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP)—San Francisco Giants left-hander Noah Lowry missed his second straight mound session of spring training Tuesday after developing tightness in his shoulder during pre-camp throwing sessions.

Lowry, attempting to win a spot in the Giants rotation after missing the entire 2008 season, instead threw off flat ground at the Giants’ complex.

“You take a year off, you are bound to have a little tightness,” said Lowry, who has not pitched since August 2007.

Lowry had surgery for a rare neuromuscular problem in his left forearm, called exertional compartment syndrome, on March 7, 2008, and then had an arthroscopic procedure to remove a bone spur from his left elbow in September, as he was preparing to pitch in the Arizona Rookie League.

Lowry said he pitched off a mound only twice between his two operations last year.

“Of course I want to be out there,” said Lowry, who was 14-8 in 2007 despite missing the final month of that season with tightness in his left forearm. “I’ve worked hard all offseason, day in and day out, to get to this point. The main thing is (developing arm) strength, but at the same time I don’t want to go out there and set myself back to a point where I might have to take a couple of days off.”

Lowry enters camp as a candidate for the No. 5 spot in the rotation behind Tim Lincecum, Randy Johnson, Matt Cain and Barry Zito.

Manager Bruce Bochy said Lowry is scheduled to throw off a mound Thursday.

If zito gets run support, i believe he will do really well this year, He did seem to shape up the 2nd half, including being the dodger killer

FUCK THE DODGERS!!!

^^^Yup, cain, lincecum and zito all got buttfucked by having no run support. The giants 94 homeruns last year was the fewest since the marlins first year in the league (1993). And Lincecum is the first Giant ever to lead the majors in k's.

I bet lincecum would've gotten even more K's and stayed in longer if it wasnt for the added pressure that he had to preserve the lead or keep the score whatever it was without giving up hits or runs.

not so much lincecum, but if he had more run support he def woulda had more wins.
and??????????? if tyler walker had more run support, he too would have had more wins.....................

yeah hah, lincecum could only do so much. If it werent for zero run support lincecum woulda had 20 wins.
maybe 35 wins....................if he had great run support he could have had a 35-0 record because he is that good......................come on guys things eventually even out..................how many other pitchers lost games 1-0........you guys have a run support case with Cain and thats it

I bet lincecum would've gotten even more K's and stayed in longer if it wasnt for the added pressure that he had to preserve the lead or keep the score whatever it was without giving up hits or runs.
maybe he could have K'ed up 400 batters..........................now you guys are getting a little rediculous..................are you actually advocating that this kid stayed in longer that the 138, 119, 125 type pitch counts that they ran up on him on a sucky team that wasnt going anywhere..................im kinda scared to think of what the manager would have done with this kid in barely his second year in the Giants were actually fighting for a playoff spot........i know the SF fans would run his arm into oblivian if they had the chance

The bulpen blew some wins for him too.....

lol, just in case you didnt know bullpens blow leads for lots of pitchers........they also erase loses for pitchers too, but no1 sees that, do they?
