I joine the navy for school money and medical training, anways i was in the navy office talkin to my recruit cus i ship out on the 12th he sayin there isn't that many bonuses anymore cus of the unemployment rate everyone is coming to the military for jobs, he was even talkin about how they had to turn some people away that they normally wouldnt.
Really? That's weird. My bonus was $20,000 with a 28% tax deduction. Which is the highest you can get in the reserve for a first-time enlistment. I guess the army is just easier to join. They even let in people with a few felonies against them. Air Force is the hardest to get into.

If you do FAFSA go to one of the FAFSA help classes they be having at the junior colleges so you can get maximum money, i tried filling that shit out by myself and was given no money
I didn't even know they had FAFSA help classes. I filled it out by myself and it said I didn't have to pay anything. Maybe my family is just poorer lol. But it does get confusing at times.

When I went to Iraq I worked with 5 guys that were in the Air National Guard. They all really liked it and had nothing bad to say about it. They're like 80% of the reason I decided to get off of Active Duty. Really though you'll only have fun in the military (any branch) if you're doing something you like so make sure you do your research before you sign anything and if you work with people you like which is obviously just luck of the draw.

Errrrrrrr.... got a question for you military people out there.
I know recruiters lie like hell, and almost %80 of the shit they tell you is pure b.s

Is it a good idea to join the army now? I know that there's a huge chance that you're actually going to get deployed in iraq/afghanistan, but What's a good M.O.S that will keep you out of the hostile areas? I already marked out Explosive Ordnance Disposal.

preferably something dealing wit computers.

Well regardless of your MOS, you're gonna have to go out on patrols. EVERYBODY does this. But if you want to know which MOS's see the most combat, then you can do this: Go to the army website and browse through the jobs. If you see a job marked as "Not available for women" that's because it's an MOS where you are most likely to see combat. You'll want to avoid those. But read the descriptions of other jobs and see what they're about. If they're not combat-related, then the most hostility you'll encounter is when you're out on patrol.

dont you usually get deployed right after basic training in the army, like after a month or so?
No. They deploy whole units, not individuals. My friend has been in for about 3 or 4 months and he's not getting deployed until January. Another one of my homies just finished training about a month ago, and his unit is also due to be deployed in January of next year. You get deployed whenever your unit is supposed to get deployed.

Do you mean swore in as in went to MEPS, got the physical and paperwork done, got your boot camp date set, and then went into the little room to get sworn in? If that's what you mean then you gotta tell your Marine recruiter, who will get pissed at you, then get more paperwork done. You should be able to join another branch if that happens, just make sure you tell them about it. The only problem you would have with that is if you decide to join the Marine Corps again.

If he was in the Delayed Entry Program he can still back out of his contract.

Yeah that's true. And Navy is 7 months, but I think only 3 months if you're on a submarine. I'm not sure about the Air Force though.

yeah i went to meps sworn in and signed papers, passed physical test blah blah. got my bootcamp date.

i was in the DEP (delayed entry program or somethin) .. did that for a couple of months..

but i backed out bcoz i found out a lot of lies that my recruiter told me, and i also didnt have my hs diploma at that time. mom also wanted me to join navy/army instead. so i just cut off contact with recruiters..

they sent me a letter later on that said i have been discharged and the reason is bcoz i couldnt get my diploma.

I didnt go to bootcamp or did anything like that tho.. can i still hop back?

Exactly what happened, but i cut off contact wit them, and recieved that mail later on. that i got discharged and the reason is unable to get hs diploma blah blah.

recruiters are assholes they lie about every single thing.

told me that the chances of getting deployed to iraq are slim, that you dont have to be an infantry if you dont want to (When a marines first m.o.s is infantry!!) that they have a buddy system where u can get DEPLOYED to the same place wit ure buddy. blah blah blah..

Recruiters are FULL of SHIT! They all lie. Just let them know from the start you aren't with that bullshit lying and that you know people who have joined recently.
I was lied to as well but I didn't find out until way later.

The army will always take you because they need people. Getting the job you want may be harder though because you're an unreliable bastard.

Yeah in that case you should be able to join the army. Did you ever get your diploma or a GED?
