My girlfriend's dad is in the Navy. He's deployed right now. I would never be able to live on a ship for that long. He hasn't seen land in 45 days.

I enlisted a few months back in the army reserve. I'm shipping off to basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina on June 17th. And my job is a psychological operations specialist.

Lately it seems they don't give a fuck who goes. There is a medical screening prior to going over there. Just fail out of that shit and you aren't going.
we had a bitch who is flat out retarded, they tried to send her and she ended up back on board 2 months later. She was too retarded to send to the sand.
im actually wanting to go deploy when i join the national guard....$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

just a thought that comes to my mind......in some ways its good that people are joining the military cause of the recession which is good for the military but in other ways now that just means we gonna get alotta pussy muthafuccas who just joined cause they coudlnt find a job and when their behind an m16 they gonna get hesitant as fuck and be shitbags and cry when they see an iraqi pointin an ak at em, in other words too much muthafuccas joining for the wrong reasons

I think if people join just to get a job they won't be infantry. They're gonna wanna get a job that makes it easy for them to transition to the civilian world. You're gonna get lots of administration, mechanic, construction, or law enforcement jobs, but I don't think you'll get many pussies in the infantry.

i hear what ur sayin but i guess its cause i was in the Marines and your army....but in the Marines ANYONE can be a grunt if needed....for instance i was a warehouse Marine as were most of my friends but when they deployed they were basically sent to diff. sections in Iraq, and did they just do warehouse shit? fuck no most of em were basically grunts doin shit that the grunts do...thats why the saying goes" Every Marine is a rifleman"

Once you put it that way, I can understand. But at the same time, most people wouldn't consider military service except as a last resort. I just don't think there will be LOTS of people enlisting just to get a job. Sure there's always people who enlist for that reason, but I don't think there will be a dramatic increase.

Where have you guys heard this? Talk to a recruiter and they'll tell you that you can get deployed. The only real difference between the national guard and the reserves is that the reserves is under the command of the president and the national guard is under the command of the governor of your state which means that you can be called up for a natural disaster or things of that nature. Either way, you can get called up to be deployed overseas.
I read that on Wiki!! LOL I know that's not a reliable source, so I was going to ask a recruiter if I got a hold of 1.

I dont think I wanna be deployed. I was interested in the money for college and for some reason I thought the same thing about not being deployed.

As far as college goes, I guess the only way to find out about grants and loans is to do the FAFSA?

I've been through like 4 or 5 semesters at my community college thus far off the FAFSA and it was fully paid for. I suggest you fill that out and see what they say, because they pay for your classes and books and other shit if you are qualified.

Yea, Im goin for the not being deployed at anytime really. I guess the national guard misconception i had was that they just helped in natural diasters and shit. Yea im gonna have to try the FAFSA and see whats crackin. Im tired of the fuckin job hoppin and shit, I need a career.
