im not a c.o. but i also work in a state prison in northern cali......and mcleanhatch is right about the prisoners have more rights than the officers as far as being able to get away with more shit.....as a c.o.,you are considered a peace officer and therefore have strict conduct rules you must follow or your job or freedom can be put on the line, now dont get me wrong i know officers that do corrupt shit but those numbers dont compare to those who do their job the way their suppose to....for example probably 2 or three months back their was an officer who was gassed(had some piss thrown on him)....now he did exactly what any of us would have done in that situation by beating the shit out of the inmate who did it.....anyway the inmate got a month in the hole and an extra six months time....and the officer was fired and faces 2 to 3 years jail time......and as for as changing the system i really dont know what more thay can do....they got the sap program for drug abusers.....they got anger managment programs and counseling for the violent offenders.....they got programs for the sex offenders and not to mention the numerous religious groups.....its like i said man,its all an individual decision on wether y0u want to change or not.........

yet i am civilized, i am a student at CSUS, i have never gone to jail, worst that ever happened to me was once i was caught freeing from the rooster fights, yet they let me go they just ran a backround check to make sure i had no warrants it came back clean and so they released me.
