starting to realize how epic this fight is going to be. It's going to be huge...

Kobe and Jeter Go Wild Over Pacquiao vs Cotto

Superstars Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees can't wait for the Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto mega fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 14.

"I love Manny," said Kobe. "I enjoy being around people who are just as competitive, who have the same passion and work ethic. If I don't have a game that night I'll be there."

Jeter is looking for two ringside tickets.

The New York Giants football team is off that weekend and some of the top players will be heading in for the fight.

One of Cotto's biggest fans is Carlos Beltran of the New York Mets. He has been at ringside for many of Cotto's big fights.

"We are getting so many calls from sports and entertainment stars," said Bob Arum. "This is going to be a premier sports event."

Kobe met Pacquiao at a recent Nike commerical video shoot in Los Angeles. Kobe spoke about Pacquiao while at a Nike press function in Makati City, Philippines. Kobe was quoted about Manny on the GMA.News.TV website.

This is gonna be a war. I'm definitely gonna make the trip out to Vegas for this one !

Mostly in hopes of meeting a beautiful Puero Rican woman who I can impregnate. The fight should be okay as well.

Vegas opens with Pacquiao a 2-1 favorite. I'm sure that will change quickly.

Ok, this is a video from GamblersAdvisory.Com, I'm posting this because this guy has a great track record and is usually SPOT ON with his predictions. Some of you may recall I posted his prediction of the hopkins vs pavlik fight, where he received a ton of shit because he predicted hopkins would dominate pavlik.

Watch this video, he makes some great points about how cotto needs to have his feet planted to get off power shots and how pacquiao only struggles with guys that can throw a nice straight right and cotto is a left handed dominated fighter like oscar de la hoya, like hatton, etc. To sum up, he's picking pacquiao to win big and possibly stop cotto.

And this video was made just prior to the cotto vs clottey fight (he also said cotto would struggle pretty hard against clottey but win).

oh man, cross your fingers, this could end up being even better than the cotto/pac fight

Edwin Valero vs Humberto Soto could be on the Cotto-Pacquiao undercard

One fight Arum mentioned to me as a possibility for the Cotto-Pacquiao undercard is a lightweight title match between Edwin Valero and junior lightweight titlist Humberto Soto, who plans to move up in weight. That's a can't-miss fight.

Please jebus make this happen

Valero vs Soto on "Fire Power" undercard?

By Gabriel F. Cordero

The possibility exists that current WBC super featherweight world champion Humberto Soto of Mexico could move up to face Venezuelan superstar Edwin Valero for the WBC lightweight title on November 14th in Las Vegas. The clash would be part of the huge megacard headlined by Manny Pacquiao vs Miguel Cotto. It is known that Top Rank is interested in trying to make this fight. Soto is currently training in Tijuana.

^^Cotto has decent defense, his main problem imo is he doesn't know how to clinch. Too much pride or whatever.

One of the biggest differences between Cotto vs Margarito and Mosley vs Margarito is Mosley clinched Margarito everytime he got too close or immediately after Mosley got a couple shots off. Cotto could have won that fight (with or without marg's gloves being loaded) if he clinched, but instead when he got stuck on the ropes or in trouble he would just move his head and eat uppercuts when clinching is a perfectly legal way of getting yourself out of a jam.

just my thoughts.

Cotto's jab and timing will be his biggest assets in this fight. I doubt Manny is able to pressure him the same way Tony did. Different styles.

He'll use his in & out movement, as we've seen and try to keep the fight in the center of the ring.

This is a tough fight for Manny, because Cotto has got a stiff jab, and since he is a left hand dominant fighter, his jab is going to be pretty heavy.

The question is, can he time the jab, and can it find its moving target enough.

The question should really be....Can Cotto's horrible defense withstand the Pacman's constant onslaught? I don't believe so but ya never know...this is boxing anything can happen.

Pacquiao's track record against left hand dominated fighters is great - oscar, hatton, Diaz... I know cotto is on a different level, but still.

I honestly don't think cotto's jab will be much of a factor, I think after the first couple rounds it wont be landing and he'll completely abandon it like he has so many times in the past.

Pacquiao and Cotto To Wear Puncher's Gloves on 11/14

By Mark Vester

You can already guess what both fighters plan to do on November 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. When Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao enter the ring, they will both wear 8-ounce gloves to get the most power out of their punches. Both fighters are going to look for the knockout.

"Both are punchers and they'll be wearing 8-ounce gloves in the fight," said Pacquiao's lawyer Franklin Gacal to the Manila Bulletin.

There is a rule in Nevada where all fighters above 135-pounds have to wear 10-ounce gloves to the ring. But there is a stipulation that permits the use of 8-ounce gloves - if both fighters agree to their use. This is a rule put together by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. In most other parts of the United States, fighters weighing up to 147-pounds can wear 8-ounce gloves. The Nevada commission amended their rule for last year's fight between Cotto and Antonio Margarito, when both camps jointly protested to use 8-ounce gloves.

It all depends on how the camp goes, nutrition, game plan, etc.
Both fighters change dramatically with each new fight they are in.
It's way too early to tell in my opinion.

Pac has to peak somewhere, and if it wasn't his last 2 fights around then Cotto is in trouble.
