Well Tony, Paul Williams already beat Margarito and did it by just throwing more punches, all i know is if Margarito moved a weight division he would get his ass whooped.

Yeah, you're right, I seen that fight... Paul Williams' reach advantage helped a lot in that one. I just think with Margarito right there in your face someone will have to stand there and T-off on him. Maybe a good uppercut will put him down for the count. He takes punches and just keeps walking forward... I know, easier said than done but he's not that great of a counter puncher. Someone will have to set their mind to go in there and knock Margarito out because he keeps coming.

Cotto landed some good shots to where Margarito's head was snapping back. Maybe Cotto should have thrown his punches with more power because he was landing at will.

I don't think going for the KO is the right strategy against Margarito. The guy has one of the best chin's I've ever seen in my life. It's up there with Hagler. I mean, Cotto threw 5-6 hit combo's and Margarito wouldn't even budge. Not a single time did he even get back pedal for a moment. He ate everything and LOL'd at Cotto.

The way to beat Margarito is to out box him. Basically what Cotto was doing but you just cant eat as much shots as cotto did. Someone like Floyd Mayweather jr. would outbox him n/p. Paul Williams can try to do the same thing again but he was eating some heavy shots towards the end of their first fight and was looking shaky as fuck.

I'll tell you what de la hoya is thinking right now - NO FUCKING WAY IN HELL AM I GOING TO FIGHT MARGARITO!!! He knows a fighter like that would be too much. Cotto at least is smaller then him. Marg is just too big, even for oscar who is at 154.

If PBF were to come back, I think the best chances would have been against Cotto. Unfortunately I don't think Margarito could become as big as a star as Cotto could and with PBF obviously it's going to be about who can generate the most money.

I think more then likely Margarito will face Paul Williams. Or, there is a chance he could fight Shane Mosely. Or try to unify by fighting zab judah/clotty. I dunno. He could even go to 154 if he wanted to.

Williams actually called out Margarito yesterday. And a week or two ago he said he wants to win belts at 147, 154 and 160 and defend all three belts at each weight class at the same time. lol he's crazy. he said going from 147 to 160 isn't a problem for him

Cotto back in Puerto Rico. Says he will fight again before the end of the year.

"I feel a little bad for the loss. I look back and I feel that the work was done. Antonio Margarito did it better and that's why he won." - Cotto

"The loss was something that we didn't expect. It was really hard, not for the loss, Miguel will bounce back from that; but the impression that the kids got from seeing their dad hurt and with all that blood." - Cotto's wife.

As shown with Cotto he's a better boxer than Margarito, dude is way too slow IMO. U gotta give a lot (and i mean a lot) of credit to Margarito for his will/desire to win. Dude was gettin knocked and still kept comin! That's heart right there.

lol @ being #1 p4p with 5 losses, all this fight did was ruin Cotto's legacy.
I don't think it ruins Cotto's legacy just yet. It proves he's not invincible, but there is no shame in losing to Margarito who really is the much bigger man.

I think Cotto can bounce back. He should take an easy fight then challenge one of the other belt holders, win and may down the road fight Margarito again. I mean it's not like he wasn't winning the fight, he just couldn't sustain that pace. Looking back he could have made some adjustments. IMO he completely out-boxed Margarito for the first 6-7 rounds or so.

Losing isn't everything - Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard, Hearns, Hagler - they all lost to each other for the most part and they are legends.

Im already knowin that Cotto can bounce back from this cuz theres hardly anyone that can trade with him but it seems like the only 2 fighters for him to fight are the bigger ones. The thing that pisses me off is that the boxing world and all the media isnt really acknowledging the fact Margarito was so much bigger then him. I was predicting Cotto to be the next big thing and this will forever leave a mark in his career when everyone looks back on his career.

Miguel Cotto: "We Lost 'The Battle' - But Not The War!"

By Mark Vester

Miguel Cotto was still given a hero's welcome when he arrived back home to Puerto Rico. Last Saturday night in Las Vegas, Cotto was battered and then stopped by Antonio Margarito in eleven-rounds. The pay-per-view event was called "The Battle" and it lived up the hype. Cotto returned home bruised and sore, but his spirits were high.

Cotto and his team held a media gathering for the press to discuss his fight with Margarito. Hundreds of Puerto Rican boxing fans showed up to salute Cotto for his brave effort in the fight. He told his fans that he expects to be back in the ring before the end of the year and hinted that at some point he will pursue another fight with Margarito.

"In terms of the future, we are going to rest a little and before the end of the year we are very sure that we will be back in the ring,"
said Cotto to Primera Hora. "The battle did not end like we expected, but I am very pleased with my work in the fight. I am little sad by the results. We lost 'the battle' - but not the war!"

When asked about his lack of bodywork in the fight, Cotto said that he was unable to find an opening to get to the body.

"It's very easy to be on the outside looking in and see the fights in a very different way than we see them in the ring. We didn't work the body because we were not able to. We did not find a way to attack his body and that's why we didn't," Cotto said. "There was a plan A, plan B and a plan C. If you watch the rounds in details, you will see that we utilized different strategies. We did everything in our power."

Cotto was very quick to let the people know that he was not planning on replacing any member of his team, including uncle/trainer Evangelista Cotto, and he was not mad at his uncle for throwing in the towel to stop the fight.

"My team has always been there. The friction between me and my team was created by you, the press. We have had our share of problems like a lot of other teams, but we are reasonable adults and we resolve our differences and here we are. I don't have any discussions regarding the decisions that Evangelista makes before, during and after the fight. Evangelista is the chief trainer of our team and he knows what he has to do and when he has to do them."
