Haha, what does Pac have anything to do with any of this? If you want my two cents he isn't about to move up to 147.

Pac is really all they have, and its really all you need. He's that good, I've always been a huge fan. Penalosa is good, but is isn't top tier in my opinion...

Paul Williams Wants Antonio Margarito To "Bring it On!"

By Rick Reeno

The stage has been set for a rematch between the two men regarded as the top welterweights of our sport. When Antonio Margarito stopped Miguel Cotto on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, WBO welterweight champion Paul Williams and his trainer/manager George Peterson, were more than thrilled with the end result.

According to Peterson, the probability of landing a unification fight with Cotto, had he won, was very low. Bob Arum was planning to go in two directions if Cotto had pulled off the win. The first was a possible December fight with Oscar De La Hoya. If a De La Hoya deal fell apart, Arum was already talking about a unification fight with Joshua Clottey in Puerto Rico [if Clottey went on to beat Zab Judah on August 2 for the vacant title].

Since Williams beat Margarito in 2007 with a close, but unanimous, twelve-round decision, Peterson says a potential rematch with the "Tijuana Tornado" is a realistic possibility. Peterson believes that Williams would stop Margarito in the rematch.

"Paul would beat Margarito for a third time. The first time he beat him up during training camp [referring to their infamous sparring session], the second time he beat him in a sanctioned bout. The third time he wouldn’t just beat him, he would knock Margarito out. They say Margarito has never been knocked out, well Paul would knock him out if they fight again,” Peterson would tell BoxingScene.com

"None of these guys want to fight Paul. When he beat Margarito, they pretended like Paul didn't exist. He knocks out Quintana in one-round and they still pretend like he doesn't exist. Margarito wants to be the best, let him fight Paul and lets find out who is the best welterweight in the world."

Talks are still ongoing for Williams to face Winky Wright at 160-pounds, but Peterson reveals that nothing is close to signed.

Great fight ! Definitely a FOY candidate, IMO.

That was entertaining every second of the way. Cotto fought the perfect fight, and really couldn't have done anything better, but just the physical size and power advantage, coupled with Margarito's relentless pressure style was too much.

This is what I said would be the difference in this fight. The size & power advantage was too much, even though Cotto is still the much better fighter IMO.

As far as the rematch with Paul, that would be tough to call, and I'd probably favor Paul once again just because he's not someone that Tony can physically impose his will on like he did to Cotto. Paul looked very sharp in his last fight, and seems to be in good shape and able to make the weight without losing power.

I still could see a possible De La Hoya - Cotto fight in the near future, especially if this Paul - Tony rematch happens.

thats funny not because of thinking cotto would break margaritos face, but because of thinking mayweather is the only guy who could put up a fight agianst cotto
lol, when i made that post i didnt realize how small Cotto was compared to Margarito. I cant imagine if Cotto fought Paul Williams, thats damn near 6 inch height advantage for Williams. Cotto will scrap anybody his size unfortunately theres 2 bigger fighters in his division.

Paul Williams i still believe is the truth, he handled his business in his last fight. I would love to see him fight Margarito again. that would be another good ass fight, i think if anybody has a chance at Knocking out Margarito its Paul Williams but it would definitely take a flurry of punches but i think Paul Williams will use his reach to his advantage and win again.

LOL, I guess you got me there.

But regardless, just because Margarito is Mexican it seems like people are playing down his accomplishment/victory. It's all good though, Margarito for president of Mexico!

Yeah this was a great fight. I had Cotto ahead and I thought he was doing a very good job of boxing. He was landing the better blows even though they were haven't that much of an affect but he was scoring.

He just caved in to the pressure... I think Margarito landed some hard body shots early in the fight and they eventually caught up to Cotto. At the end of the fight Cotto's face looked like he was he was getting whooped the whole fight.. spitting out blood. It was pretty sad to see his wife and kid crying. I don't think there will be a rematch.

Is there a download for the fight?

@Tony, I agree with you. I think Margarito's pressure was just too much Cotto couldn't shake him off and the body work he did eventially broke Cotto down. Cotto I thought executed the perfect game plan and boxed brilliantly, but couldn't sustain that pace for 12 rounds. Margarito just too big and powerful for him to handle.

^Agreed... great fight though. Just when I thought Cotto was done he'd fire some great combos. He even fought his way out of the corner at times. Cotto was doing a very good job of boxing but that pressure Margarito put on was no joke.

For someone to beat Margarito they're going to have to come in with their mind set on knocking that mf out.
