Ortiz does not deserve a rematch. He came in on fight night weighting a 164lb, talked all that shit on 24/7, and in 4 rounds of fighting dude landed 26 punches and four headbutts on Floyd. Ortiz boxing wise is not even on the same planet as Mayweather. Ortiz QUIT in that fight again. Mayweather will probably fight Khan next. I don't think Manny will ever sign a contract agreeing to random testing.

The fact that Floyd offered so quickly in the ring to give Ortiz a rematch, implies that he too feels Ortiz might deserve one...we can agree to disagre...Ortiz isnt on May's level...ok, by that logic Floyd shouldnt fight ever again because judging pure boxing skills arguably no one is on his level...Floyd won and was most likely gonna win anyway, but the way it ended, Ortiz deserves a rematch...Floyd doesnt have to give it to him, but IF he does, it should be AFTER Pac and May fight...lol

I don't think Ortiz deserves a rematch after that BS he pulled... He should've been disqualified because Cortez already had warned him about using his head and then he leaps and rams his head right into Mayweather's mouth. No rematch needed in my opinion, it wasn't like he was winning the fight anyway. He was down on all of the scorecards. He was losing....

So you agree with 206, but you don't agree when I say the same thing. LOL.. OK..
I agree with 206 that Ortiz had a chance and he blew it...that is true, he did blow it...but I still kind of lean towards him still deserving a rematch to some degree..or maybe "deserve" is too strong of a word....Like I said, Floyd was quick to say "if he wants a rematch then whatever" right after the fight was over....so it seems like maybe Floyd thought the same(or at least he did at the time), but things change...

imo ortiz dont deserve no rematch. he never belonged in the ring with mayweather in the first place. very opportune time to come back to boxing for mayweather. on the same note ortiz dumbass got what he deserved, but what champ really wants to take an easy underguarded ko to win a fight?

As I mentioned before Ortiz deserves a rematch IMO, but I dont want to see it before Pac and May...no more delays...
How does he "deserve" a rematch? He was headbutting all night, was breathing out of his mouth after round two, was punching behind the head and got knocked out in the fourth round. How does this guy deserve a rematch?

ETA: I initially didn't see your post where you said deserve was too strong of a word.

^^^ Definitely respect your opinion but i thought Merchant deserved it. They been going back and forth for a while now. They should have had Max Kellerman there to do the interview but fucken HBO knows how to create controversy and there well aware of the two's history
lol

hmmm...so maybe they should just have that ass licker ellerbe interview him?...im sure the handful of mayweather lovers here would be down with that. im sure he won't ask him any real questions

btw, mayweather said after the fight that if khan fights and beats vargas, he'll consider giving him a fight. i mean pansy ortiz definitely doesn't deserve a rematch...but khan? really??

ok I just wawatched the fight again........the ref never said "box"....he just gave the motion to come bacj to the center of the ring....the ref proceeds to turn his head to the sideline ref and asks "did the bell ring?".......so this dumbass ref didn't even know if the round was over or what??? And if that is the case.....how could he have restarted the match not knowing that?

Remember this all happened within the 10second warning.

Also....I think I know why Orrtiz lunged at mayweather with his head......mayweather grabs ortizs head with both of his hands just before. After watching it again.....ortiz did fight a tad bit better than I initially gave him credit for. I still believe mayweather felt that right hand in the 4th.

Oh well.........I agree Ortiz had his chance.

I'm pretty sure the game plan was to rough him up. He just went a little too far.

I knew I saw one of the trainers at my boxing gym on the PPV Saturday. He was in Gomez's corner. I guess Gomez was training there on the weekends. Crazy.
