Do you think that's appropriate behavior from floyd to lash out and cuss out an old man in front of millions of people on live TV for being cutoff?
No, I don't think it's "appropriate" behavior to cuss out an old man. However, Larry has been doing this type of shit for ages and things finally blew up in his face.

Now, I do understand floyd was probably still heated and emotions were still very high, still, it didn't seem right to me and was in poor taste.
It may have been in poor taste but sometimes you have to give it any way you can. This was something that was not going to be resolved amicably so we'll see where it goes.

No such thing as a sucker punch when the ref gives the verbal and physical command to continue fighting. Keep yourself protected at ALL times. How hard is that to understand? The ref said fight, the guys hands are down, what else are you supposed to do? Have tea and crumpets? Play xbox with the nigga? NO! Knock his fuckin block off!
We agree to disagree....

I saw it as Ortiz went in to hug Mayweather.....Mayweather was like 'enough'....gave Ortiz a half-a-hug....then before Ortiz could defend himself he left hooked him.

Thats a sucker punch.

Cortez kind of fucked it up though, he wasn't very clear about the whole thing, at least not to Ortiz. I fucking hate that guy. They should have had Kenny Bayless who was on the UNDERCARD so he was obviously available that night. It can't be a coincidence that this guy is always involved in some weird ass controversy.
This is the most critical part of the while thing. If he gave the command to "Box".....WHY THE FUCK AREN'T U WATCHING THE FUCKING FIGHT!!?!??!?!?!?!?!?

That's what makes this whole thing fucked up.

Floyd's lashed out on him before a few times (after Baldomir for example), you'd think he got it out of system by now.

He is always involved in some controversy but up until that point I say he did a good job. Watch the fight again and you'll see that he warned Ortiz two times in round 4 before the big head butt that caused things to go downhill. But cortez was looking at the clock or something, he should have had his eyes on the fighter, but Ortiz was a world champ, has had numerous fights in his career and was fighting in the BIGGEST match of his life. No mistakes. You have to be on point and on top of your game at all times and he wasn't.

But comrade, did you see the way Floyd kept popping his elbow out there to catch some of Ortiz's punches? Fine boxing, bro.

Fam, I think he was looking to see if the time had started. Fighters don't need to watch the ref, the ref simply says to obey my instructions/commands and when the man commanded them to fight Ortiz didn't obey.

Ortiz is certainly to blame too, you just can't do that. Like I said before, he shouldn't have been so apologetic. Stupid on his part and he got what he deserved. If you're going to be a dirty fighter, be dirty. You don't see B-hop apologizing to his foes, he wants them to know he's dirty and know more is coming.

And you're right Cortez wasn't doing a bad job up till then. Ortiz and crew talked to him before the fight and brought up the issue on inside fighting/clinching and I noticed just about every time they got close, Cortez allowed them time to box out of the clinch, so he seemed much more aware in that regard.

But comrade, did you see the way Floyd kept popping his elbow out there to catch some of Ortiz's punches? Fine boxing, bro.
He looked fantastic. And like I told everyone on here he was going to fight toe to toe just like against mosley. You could here Roger between every round "keep walkin him down" etc. He had Ortiz backing up and dancing around for a while.

Ortiz had a few good moments of his own when he was really aggressive. Floyd took a few good shots (well) but he looked already defeated at the start of round 3. That last fury (with the headbutt) was really all he did since round 2.

Floyd did what Peyton Manning does all the time.... catch you off guard... or how about the Saints and their surprise onside kick in the SuperBowl? Same principle.... that onside kick caught the Colts off guard and won them the SuperBowl and the Saints and coach gets praised for it.

Peyton Manning tries to catch defenses off guard all time time.... he'll hike the ball while the defense is substituting in their players to get a penalty.

Or how about when Dan Marino did that fake spike and threw for a TD?

Point is.... keep your guards up all the time. Happens in football and in boxing.

Once the whistle blows it's on... Once the ref says "Let's go" it's on...

People like to slam on Cortez for what happened and he does deserve somewhat blame for what happened but refs talk to commission officials and judges ALL THE TIME during a fight to keep them informed especially after a point deduction. That Ortiz got dropped while he was doing it is a shame that he didn't see it but it's COMMON what he did, what's uncommon is that Floyd put him on his ass when he was doing it.

Ortiz needs to get the lion's share of the blame here. He put his hands down to hug the guy he's fighting while the clock is running down and got his ass popped. You may consider what Mayweather did unclassy or unsportsman like, and that's your opinion. but it was 100% legal and he won clean. The only controversy to me is what the fuck was going through Ortiz's brain when he was trying to hug the guy after he intentionally fouled him by leaping into with his head and blooding up his mouth.

Ortiz quit in the fight, again because he was getting outclassed in the ring. All that shit talking and disrespecting of Mayweather made the ass whipping he was getting so much wrost. Ortiz was looking for a way out of the fight.

I would rather see him fight Berto because Mayweather just made him look bad for 4 rounds.

Here's what other boxers had to say.

Paulie Malignaggi: Ortiz was KO'd bcuz HE made huge mistake that @FloydMayweather capitalized on. #EndOfStory #DoneTalking

Lennox Lewis: When the ref says fight. It doesn't matter if he looks away. The fighters were instructed to fight not hug.

Andre Dirrell: Anthonydirrell it's not ok for a champion to do something like that if @FloydMayweather would have did That it would have been all bad but since Vic did

Antonio Tarver: Protect yourself at all times, it's the first rule of boxing.

AndreBerto: 2 B honest the butt was wrong and the last right hand punch that Floyd threw was alittle much... But u have to protect yourself at all times

Nonito Donaire: It can be classless, it can be unsportmanike, even opportunistic, but unforunately, its still legal. Would I pull a mayweather? No. But would I pull an Ortiz and be THAT close to a fighter even IF he was saying sorry? No. Id keep arms length away.

OmarHenry: By the way the ending wasnt dirty protect yourself at all times Victor was looking for an excuse out and he found it. STOP HATING!

Audley Harrison : That was warming into a great fight. Shame, but Victor was naive to drop his hands like that, protect yourself at all times is the rules.

Anthonydirrell: Did what he had to do it protect yourself at all time

BrianViloria: Once the referee says fight...put yo damn guard up!

Rashad Holloway: Protect yourself at all times. But damn, is there any class in boxing anymore?

Peter Quillin: Protect urself at all times 2nd rule in boxing. 1st rule is. Keep ur hands up!

Ishe Smith: Protect urself at all times, why are u going to hug the guy, this is the fight business

Pawel Wolak: I probably would have hit with the left hook but not with the follow right. Got 2 keep protected at all times but try 2 keep sportsmanship.

Eddie Chambers: Victor Ortiz should of never dropped his guard... & always know u are never friend while u in that ring!!

Steve Cunningham: y'all call us warriors gladiators right, I agree with wut Floyd did its fight time not time to hug kiss and apologize
