Marquez said he's trying to fight Peterson and said doesn't think the pacquiao fight is going to happen.

That's a good sign.

Floyd has rejected Canelo, Cotto, & Guerrero.
Pac has rejected Marquez.

No one left to fight but eachother.

Still I wont hold my breath.

They're negotiating so we will see what happens. The fight needs to be made, and Mayweather phone call Manny behind Arum back seems like it got the ball rolling. I bet Bob was mad about the call. Please boxing gods we need this fight to be made.
I agree!

I can see Arum being PISSED that mayweather called Pac......LOL

Fuck him anyway......who care's about him at this point!

Mayweather vs Canelo at 154lb is a good fight. Manny vs Bradley at 147lb is a good fight. But if Manny doesn't fight Mayweather he will get a backlash from the fans.

forget about this fight, it will never happen. Rigondeaux vs Ramos tonight on Showtime, should be interesting. Let's see if Rigondeaux can become champion after only 8 fights. His amateur record is insane - just about 400 wins with only 12 losses (includes beating Gamboa a few times and two gold medals of course).
I forgot about this too.

Arum on Pacquiao's Opponent, Mayweather's 50-50 Stance
www.boxingscene.com
By Michael Marley

According to promoter Bob Arum, Manny Pacquiao's next opponent will be announced "sometime next week" and the Pinoy Idol's next bout will occur on June 9. Top Rank is looking at either the Thomas & Mack Arena or, more likely, "the nice people" at the MGM Grand, to host the bout which will match Manny with either Miguel Cotto, Lamont Peterson, Juan Manuel Marquez or Tim Bradley. Arum feels the only fight that merits the outdoor stadium is the mega-fight between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Although Uncle Bob didn't say it, I will. The leading candidate is Cotto, who would be getting a rematch after previously having been stopped in the twelfth and final round by the Filipino superstar.

Mayweather let the world know he's spoken on the phone to Pacquiao and his agent, Michael Koncz. "Money" also keeps banging the drum about Arum being the block to the Floyd-Manny Super Fight.

Arum says this is balderdash.

"I'm not stopping any fight. This is all for public relations, it's nonsense," an exasperated sounding Arum said late Friday afternoon from Las Vegas.

"Arum's blocking the fight and so on, it's just rididculous. What's going on is not rational. The whole thing about them fighting in May (Mayweather wants May 5, Arum chose May 26) is moot now. It's moot because it's all been BS. Look at what Mayweather's lawyer is saying, it's all doubletalk. If the right people approached the judge (Hon. Melissa Saragosa) I think the judge would push Mayweather's sentence back another 30 days. But they don't want that.

"This is not the normal way you put together a big fight. The normal way would would be for us to sit down somewhere. Mayweather said he won't agree to a 50-50 split with Manny. Now that's something blocking the fight, something we won't agree to.

"We could sit down and get everything in place, including the outdoor stadium (bleachers) which will have a bubble over it. But we (he and TR president Todd duBoef) have never heard from either (Al) Haymon or (Leonard) Ellerbe," Arum said. "We would also need to explore the best date and the outdoor stadium. I could get all that done but not like this."

Arum charged that Mayweather's conduct is not helping matters.

"On their side, they are all puppets for Mayweather. Mayweather is his own manager, his own promoter...like I said, it is ridiculous nonsense."

If the 50-50 split argument and other hurdles could be overcome to make a November Floyd-Manny bout now, Arum said it would benefit everyone involved.

"It would benefit their interim fights, if Mayweather fought on May 5 and Manny on June 9, because everyone would know their next fight would be against each other come November."

Arum is too funny so many excuses it's not even funny, and no outdoor stadium. Now this story about the 50/50 split BS is making sense it gave Arum a reason to duck Mayweather again. The ESPN email from Mayweather is some BS Top Rank damage control.

mayweather vs canelo is a great fuckin fight pacquiao vs anyone but mayweather is a terrible fight.
u are crazy if u think this will be an even remotely competitive fight. even Floyd said it doesn't make sense fighting a 21 year old. u don't go from fighting Alfonso gomez and Ricky hattons brother to mayweather. canelo isn't even the best at 154 he has a paper title the wbc gave him for fighting who??? Ricky hattons brother.

I lIke canelo but like Floyd said give it time. maybe later down the road it will make sense

Honestly, a lot of it does seem like public relations shit on Floyd's part. Keep the fucking negotiations (if you would even call them that) behind closed doors.

We all know who they're supposed to be fighting. A Twitter call out, a call out on 106 & Park and FloydHype.com don't mean shit. Fights don't get made through the media.

These guys need to really sit down and iron this shit out.

And the whole Floyd not settling for a 50/50 is just ridiculous.

Their PPV numbers are comparable. The gate numbers are comparable.

If it isn't one thing it's another. This isn't building hype for the fight, it's just making people sick of seeing all of this back and fourth, and no real progress being made.

Floyd is calling him out all ways possible cuz he was labeled a ducker the last 2 years. Hes put the heat on Top Ranked and they doing anything they can for the fight not to happen. Btw Manny really lost his last fight so if it wasnt a 50/50 split that is a very good reason why. Only in boxing could a promoter have the judges favor his fighter no matter the outcome and that fighter still be regarded as the #2 p4p fighter even though fighters that are 3, 4, and 5 have not struggled that badly against there opponent in recent fights

I agree there but imagine if Manny was handed the L which is what should have happened, theres no way he would still be #2 and could not demand a 50/50 split.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: 50-50 Split is The Breaking Point

http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&opt=printable&id=48784#ixzz1k7RmvJGE

By Robert Morales

Promoter Bob Arum was was steamed, to say the least, at the latest development regarding a possible fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. He was angry about a story on ESPN's Sportscenter that centered on a phone call that took place Wednesday between Mayweather in Las Vegas and Pacquiao in the Philippines. The two apparently talked about the fight, with one of the details of their conversation being the purse.

Pacquiao told Mayweather he was fine with a 50-50 split, but Mayweather said that was not acceptable.

"He ask(s) about a 50/50 split and I told him, `No, that can't happen, but what can happen is you can make more money fighting me than you have made in your career,"' Mayweather was quoted by Sportscenter.

Mayweather also blamed Arum for the fight - which has previously met with failed negotiations - not being made.

"There is no fight I want more than the Manny Pacquiao fight," said Mayweather, who was supposed to begin a 90-day jail sentence for a domestic violence conviction Jan. 6, only to have a judge agree to stay that until June 1 so he can meet an obligation to fight May 5 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"I guess he said he agreed to fight. The only thing that is stopping this fight right now, that I truly believe is stopping the fight, is Bob Arum."

When the subject of this story was broached with Arum, he went off.

"Apparently he is saying he isn't going to do a 50-50 deal. So that is the end of the story. Forget about it. This is like craziness. Manny is the box-office star, he is the pay-per-view star. He has all the endorsements. Who the f**k is this guy? I was shocked when Manny said we will do a 50-50 because I would not have done 50-50.

"I don't want to hear about Mayweather. It is just a waste of time. He blames me? What the f**k is he talking about."

Arum would have grudgingly gone along with Pacquiao on the equal division. But he said he would never agree on anything less.

Based on the recent series of events, Pacquiao is likely going to return on June 9th, either at the MGM Grand or the Thomas and Mack Center, and Miguel Cotto appears to be the frontrunner to secure the fight. An official announcement is expected in the coming days.

"This coming week the decision will be made," Arum said. "(Pacquiao adviser) Michael Koncz is flying back from the Philippines and we will have a decision and a fight in place for June 9."
