Whoever said it was on some fuckboy shit.
Pacquiao said that in an interview.... "just not the day of the fight"

So why didn't they fight then? Of course they're not going to test the day of.

I think Floyd's camp was saying he was scared of needles or somethin', after Pacquiao said he feels weak after having blood drawn.

I backed Pacquiao on that because I wouldn't want blood drawn the day of the fight either, but then I started backing Floyd, when Floyd gave him a 2-week no blood drawn window. He didn't even offer Shane or Victoria the two week cut off but he offered it to Manny.

So I don't understand why they turned the fight down if Manny himself said "just not the day of"
In hindsight he should have.

the people doing the tests could not gaurantee they wouldn't take blood on the day of the fight, that's why they came up with the cut off dates in the first place.

It's all pointless now though since both camps are past that, but like I said hindsight pac should have just taken the 14 days (or on the fipside floyd should have accepted the 21 days or whatever it was).

The needle shit comes from Michael Koncz (which I have confirmed) and possibly Manny himself (which I haven't confirmed yet and which I doubt.)

"USADA take the equivalent of less than a tablespoon of blood. According to the USADA who would administer the tests, it replaces itself within an hour at most. Bolt was tested 6 times in the space of 10 days. Still made no difference to him."

^That was a copy and paste... not sure if it's accurate information though.

For one, no one got in any trouble for testing positive and it was kept under wraps.

Two, if we're talking about Nevada, they do a random blood test any time of the year, and they take multiple urine samples before and immediately after the fight.

The drug testing is much more thorough & advanced now, as the science has grown many drugs that weren't detected by urine in the years past now are.

It's far from perfect though, and still has a long way to go no question about that and it certainly needs to improve more if people really want a clean and fair sport.

Further, drug testing varies from state to state and there are even a couple states that don't test at all, so that will always remain an obstacle.
If you're only testing urine then your drug testing is not advanced at all. I just don't see how a clean fighter would refuse to be randomly tested.

Don't you remember on 24/7: Mayweather vs Mosley, those big viles of blood they were taking from mosley?

I feel woozy after giving blood, I don't like that shit at all, so I understand about not giving blood ON THE DAY OF THE FIGHT. I'm fine with shots and all that, I just don't like giving blood, makes me light headed and shit for some reason.

But again floyd & pac are passed all this so it's irreverent (now).

I'm all for a level playing field, but why only demand OST's on a fight to fight basis? You can't clean up the sport by applying stringent testing to just .01% of the fights.

Makes no sense.
people will thank mayweather years from now i hope they make that type of testing mandatory you got berto demanding ortiz take the same style of test which is stupid since mayweather had him do the same and hes clean.

still it would be better if these fighters, floyd, berto, and their promoters, lobby to the commission to make it part of standard regulation, otherwise it will be just a few guys every now and then doing it.

I don't think Olympic Style Testing is necessary I think that's overkill, but I think completely random, urine & blood samples, YEAR ROUND (not just while their in training camp) is the way to go. That way, anyone can get tested at any time of the year and multiple times a year. No one will ever know who will be tested next and you wont have the luxury of not being testing while your between fights (which one could easily use HGH and the likes).

Manny Pacquiao’s Trainer Thinks He’d Retire After A Mayweather Fight

Every morning, the fine folks at Sports Radio Interviews sift through the a.m. drive-time chatter to bring you the best interviews with coaches, players, and personalities across the sports landscape. Today: Freddie Roach says Pacquiao will have nothing left to prove after getting in the ring with Floyd.

Freddie Roach joined 590 The Fan in Toronto with Bob McCown and Stephen Brunt to talk about whether or not it is possible that Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum does not want a fight between Pacman and Money, if he felt Pacquiao won the fight against Marquez, whether or not he would take a fourth fight against Marquez, if he thinks the Mayweather fight, if it ever happens, would be Pacquiao's last, and how tough of a matchup Mayweather would be.

If it is possible that Bob Arum does not want to make the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight happen:
"Possibly yeah. The thing is everywhere I travel in the world everyone tells me to make that fight happen and so forth. I talked to Manny's advisors last week and they told me they are negotiating so it's definitely a possibility and I hope that fight happens."

Whether or not he thinks Pacquiao won the fight against Marquez:
"I thought he won by a little bit but the thing is before the decision was announced I didn't know which way it was gonna go though because it was a close fight. It coulda went either way, and if it went the other way I couldn't complain that's for sure. After watching the fight on TV I did have Manny winning by a little bit. First time in ten years Manny had a bad night and just came at the wrong time. It may be good because maybe Mayweather is licking his chops at this point."

Whether or not he would accept a fourth fight against Marquez:
"If that makes the most sense then yeah but Mayweather is the fight I want. I think he is the biggest challenge out there and I like challenges. I think that's the defining fight of Manny's career."

If he thinks Pacquiao's last fight will be against Mayweather:
"I think so. The thing is if Pacquiao does lose that fight – well win or lose I think he will retire. I think that's gonna be his last fight. He's really into politics and so forth and politics is going to take him away from boxing that's for sure. Politics is something he wants to be good at. It's not like the singing or dancing and acting, that's more for fun. This is serious business and something he wants to be good at. It's gonna take 100 percent of his time to be good at that. I feel if we do fight Mayweather, win or lose I think it will be his last fight."

How tough he thinks the Mayweather fight would be if it happens:
"Very difficult fight. He is a good counter-puncher and his style does give us trouble. He does have some Marquez similarities but he's actually a lot faster than Marquez so he does pose a bigger problem. Manny, in his last fight, he kinda fell back into the realm when he fought this guy the first two times. He didn't use the improvements he's been working on to beat these bigger and better guys. He kinda went right back to what he did in the first two fights. That wasn't enough and that wasn't really effective. I think Mayweather will bring out the best in Manny. It's gonna have to because if not we're not gonna be there in the end."

TOP RANK GODFATHER Robert "Bob" Arum, a Cum Laude graduate from Harvard Law School and the current driving force behind the sport of boxing, hits eighty today, December 8, and remains optimistic saying "the more-than-thrice-failed Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather negotiation would absolutley have a much better turn out this time around once it is resumed and goes final".

HOT INSERT: Koncz impotent on Pacquiao-Mayweather negotiation

HOT INSERT: Pacquiao vs Marquez IV egging for Philippine Independence Day Celebration

In an exclusive interview by 1069Woodsy status pre-fight of Cotto-Margarito at the Madison Square Garden in New York, Arum says he has yet decided which among the potential investors he would consider to be included as the prime movers of the purported Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather, Jr. boxing event.

HOT INSERT: Complexity of the reality: May 5 not for Pacquiao vs Mayweather, Jr

"We have not resummed the Pacquiao-Mayweather negotiation yet, though I believe Pacquiao-Mayweather fight will happen because," for such a potentially biggest fight of the century, "it would be very, very stupid for it not to happen," says Arum, the founder and CEO of Top Rank, a professional boxing promotion company based in Las Vegas, in another related interview early this week with Examiner.com.

HOT INSERT: Why Roach not passing even after 7 years at Marquez's Science School of Boxing

Like Arum, Mayweather, Jr. also discloses early this week saying, "I am waiting. There's no negotiation with Pacquiao camp yet at this time."
Report in recent weeks has it that Michael Koncz, embattled and so-called less powered adviser of Pacquiao, visited Mayweather, Jr. in Las Vegas. But, "it may have been that Team Pacquiao was simply trying to reach out Mayweather, Jr. and talk about the potential fight, which is normally a PRE-NEGOTIATION STAGE", that which Arum has confirmed. And therefore, no negotaition exists between two camps, as of this writing. As usual, Koncz has no clear word of the 'alleged' resumption of the Pacquiao-Mayweather negotiation.

"No specific details," in fact, "are yet being presented to Floyd Mayweather, Jr. And, clearly, there's no negotiation taking place yet at this time," notes one popular member of Team Pacquiao who spoke on condition of anonymity.
"If my friends from Team Pacquiao say that the Pacquiao-Mayweather negotaition is almost 'a done-deal', they are just fooling (Manny) Pacquiao. They must understand the legal process. Talking about it among themselves with somebody or anybody not really parties or party to the contract does not mean to say the negotiation has started. They are all IGNORANT of the legal process and that includes some of the writers. Please hightlight that word 'ignorant' in your article. I DON'T MEAN TO INSULT THEM.I am just telling about the true status."

"When Mayweather, Jr. says that 'no negotiation is yet started at this time', he is right." He adds.

Meanwhile, Arum, believing the fight itself will generate tremendous sums of money, says: "I believe each fighter can possibly make more than 50 million US dollars from their fight. We will find in the weeks ahead when the negotiation starts."

Arum, who is in the process of prospecting, however, declines to disclose the specific names of the investors. He believes making their names public relative to this Pacquiao-Mayweather negotiation would be betrayal of trust and confidentiality.

But, "the investors would be mainly US-based, some of them with partners outside of the American soil." He exhorts.

"Definitely, the fight would be staged in the US. We will announce the relevant details in due time once we formally meet Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and his party."

Stay tuned for more!

We will see if negotiation ever start the ball is in Top Rank's court.

Bob Arum on Mayweather-Pacquiao Talks, Backup Foes

www.boxingscene.com

by Ronnie Nathanielsz

TOP Rank promoter Bob Arum, who celebrated his 80th birthday on Dec. 8 with a luncheon for his staff at the Top Rank offices in Las Vegas, told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard that a Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight is his priority.

Arum said he’ll be coming over to the Philippines sometime in January.

“Hopefully, at that point, we’ll have some serious dialogue with Mayweather,” said Arum.

However, the Top Rank promoter stressed that everything is still uncertain.

I’m not sure, although I remain optimistic,” said Arum. “Mayweather really can’t commit anything now, because next week, he’s before the courts. So if the trial is going to happen, he can’t do the fight.”
Arum said if Mayweather is unable to do the fight, there are three options available to Manny.

He mentioned Timothy Bradley, a fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez or a rematch with Miguel Cotto, “who looked good on Saturday when he beat Antonio Margarito.”

“You have to understand that this isn’t the kind of fight you make in 15 minutes. It doesn’t work that way. It takes time, and my obligation is to get Manny the best deal possible,” Arum said.

He even laughed off at Golden Boy Promotions’ chief executive officer Richard Schaefer’s claim that he didn’t want to make a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.

He told boxing writer Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review Journal: “Why would I not want that fight to happen? Manny wants it. Boxing fans want it. The media wants it.”

Arum pushed his claim that any negotiations with the Mayweather camp would not involve Golden Boy Promotions, which is why he said Schaefer is desperate.

However, the Top Rank promoter indicated that if Mayweather wanted Schaefer and Golden Boy involved, it was “up to Floyd. He’s his own man.”

Top Rank president Todd duBoef, for whom Mayweather has publicly stated he has the highest respect as a friend, was quoted by Carp as saying “Patience is the key. We’re not going to do anything to jeopardize that fight from happening.”

Top Rank is not going to make this fight. I heard this all before in 2010 and then Manny ended up fighting Clottey. But I'm sure it will be Mayweather's fault let the Manny fans tell it.
