think about it.

san diego might just be the hub of your drug trade.

but i guess the people coming through the city hourly with TONS of heroin and coke isnt reflected on that statistical data now is it...

oh well. youll hear no complaining from me. time to smoke some weed.

the question wasnt "is san diego the hardest city in america?"
Smoke some trees, fuck one of them bad bitches out there, and be thankful you can get a job and eat at least halfway decent.Real talk,if you were in alot of other cities, you would be THANKFUL to be in San diego.Cities where niggas HAVE to hustle,HAVE to struggle and sacrifice just to EAT.

^^ for 7 years i had a record and i was unable to get a job...moved out of san diego and ran through some hard times...i know how it is to survive off of cans of lentil, rice and welfare lemonade bought from food stamps.... but i feel you regardless.

if i hadnt had family in san diego to help me get my shit together during that time, i would have been fucked off here, too.

broke is as broke does...yknow? you aint got enough money to eat you aint got enough money to eat. and the people sleeping outside with the roaches right now on 16th street might have came from more dangerous cities with better upbringings...thats just how the cookie crumbles..

houses with 2 car garages and shit..
i was trippin the first time i saw south east comin from out of town.......
broke is broke tho no matter where you at, but gettin past that poverty level in some regions is a ridiculously tough struggle.

^^^ The first time he came out to south east was to my house..i had him take the 11 bus through downtown, logan, the dip, skyline, and end at deep dell next to the brook..besides east diego thats pretty much a hood scenic tour...

i lived in nice houses, down the street from meadowbrook...and after a while you realize its the same hood cats doing the same stupid ass hood shit regardless if they came from the brook or the town houses...its all a bunch of niggas actin bad...claiming the same set..

hood is a mindstate...So saying is san diego hood, based on my growing up in southeast id say yes. all of meadowbrook probably stole food from pay low....the liquor store didnt card...niggas nickle bags looked like 20 sacks to everyone else...the gangsters had taken to smoking meth...id walk home and see baggies and crack pipes on a daily basis, yes next to these nice looking homes..houses built on landfills none the less......how hood is a woman leaving her newborn baby in a grocery bag behind a dumpster? bloods killing more bloods than crips?

i mean i could show you a picture of the brook or bay vista right now and it looks nice as hell...but how many people in here from san diego can say right now that they want to visit either apartment complex with no business there?

sure its not like its the equivelent of the tenderloin district in san francisco, or northtown vegas...but hood rules are hood rules..another thing is, heavy gentrification is an important issue..due to our reputation as bieng "americas finest city", they want to hide any and all hood shit going on.... summer time? gang injunction, no negros in packs bigger than 2 on the beach. theres 7 different crack spots in 4-8 blocks of a dozen-million dollar baseball park, which is 3-8 blocks to two detox centers and st. micheals which is a place that houses the homeless... zapato taco shop where alot of people sold drugs out of on the low back then, got pushed out of the neighboorhood because it was now next to a baseball park and live work lofts bieng built...remember i said these live work lofts are going to be built ONE BLOCK from the homeless center that houses almost 300 people...

eventually, gentrification will take over the hoods in san diego and one or two things will happen....itll make it harder for the people of low-income to survive in the city, or poor people will be forced out of san diego altogehter. the only problem with that is, there will always be a steady flow of mexican immigrants coming into the city that arent well off...

is it hood? yes, parts of it are pretty hood.
is it all hood? fuck no. san diego is way too big.
is it the most hood city? no.
is it acting like the most hood city? no.

all i think san diego is doing is bringing awareness to the fact that the struggle does exist in sunny san diego.

sorry that im typing so much and shit.

although some cities might have a higher population of crime, no big city has a shortage of 911 calls. and theres plenty of police intervention that is solved peacefully without paperwork, this is why cops walk things called "beats"..

"San Ysidro is also believed to be among the busiest sites for the importation of illegal drugs into the U.S. Much of this is smuggled in cars or trucks, but some is transported through one of the custom-built tunnels constructed by narcotraffickers under the border."-from wikepedia

they just tried to make illegal immigrants felons in california.
would you have been happy when we were #1 by hundreds of thousands of points in some stupid ass FBI list?

lets just agree on this: every city has some hoods. some more than others. but the subject of 'crime' is so broad that this thread would never end.

if you live in a city that has disadvantaged you to the point where crime is your only means to survive, i personally dont consider that crime...i consider it survival by all means, and i think its more of a crime that the city/government etc have crippled so many people that their only means of survival is to rob and steal to keep the lights on and eat the next meal.

This ain't about who struggles the most. I'm just trying get some of ya'll to realize that niggas in SD are no different than niggas in other cities. Hoods are no different across the nation, some may be worse than others, but they all face the same issues. That's all we been trying to say this whole time...

From Wikipedia:

In the United States, between the abolition of slavery and the passing of the civil rights laws of the 1960s, discriminatory mores (sometimes codified in law) often forced urban African Americans to live in specific neighborhoods, which became known as "ghettos". Due to segregation laws, in existence in many US states until the Civil Rights Movement and the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, African-Americans of all economic levels had to live in ghettos such as Southeast San Diego, West Side Detroit, Bronzeville in Chicago and Harlem in New York City. 1960s civil rights laws allowed wealthier African Americans to emigrate to formerly all-white communities. (Generally, those were suburbs located outside of the urban areas.) Because those who were wealthier in the African American community were leaving the urban area, the result was an economic collapse for many of the ghettos. They became zones of abandonment, below-average wealth, poorly-maintained housing, and high crime. By the 1970's, the Robert Taylor Homes, located in Chicago's Bronzeville, was home to the poorest and third-poorest census tracts in the United States.

i feel what your sayin but i have to ask this, where do you draw the line as far as what you consider "crime"? if crime is your only means to survive, is it ok to beat up an old lady and steal her purse? would you feel that it was "crime" if somebody broke into your house and stole your possessions? but just to make it clear im not tryna start an argument with you, just posing the question...i feel like it's even worse than crippling people, as you mentioned. it comes down to the bottom line, the $$$ and anything that stands in the way of that or is not profitable, i.e. making poor and/or crime-infested neighborhoods safer and more livable, gets pushed down to the bottom of the priority list and thus results in the conditions we're talkin about today.

In my state blacks make up 5% of the state and over 45% of the prisons. The vast majority of these brothers arent beating up old ladies, robbing people or breaking into peoples homes. They are dealing drugs,a non violent crime. And they are doing this because the USA purposely tries to keep us from making a living the 'legal' way ( a legit, livable wage paying job).

Id say its similar coast to coast, but the system wants to keep us unemployed and underemployed, wait for us to slip up,and then just lock us up.

The first law of human nature is self preservation. When people feel like they have no other choice, they will do what it takes to feed and clothe themselves.

Its a difference between 70% employed (probably half of that underemployed, rest gainfully employed) and 30% unemployed ( San Diego niggas) and 70% unemployed,25% underemployed and 5% gainfully employed(Mil town niggas).

Which niggas do you think are more hungry and willing to hoodie/mask up and grab that thang, pimp,or bag up that work?
