^^you're crazy if you think it fixed. first off, manny isn't golden boy. Second, if it were fixed, i'm sure oscar would like to go out in a competitive fashion, not losing every single round. 3rd, he couldn't hit manny. And yeah, sometimes manny backed off, that's probably a combo of two things: 1). the game plan wasn't to stay inside the entire time (stick and move you kno) and 2). he probably was going a bit easy on him, out of respect. Manny is hella humble, even after the fight saying he got lucky. Manny has done that a lot, not go for the kill when he could have. Shit, lots of fighters do, Roy Jones in his prime is a great example, he was so light years a head of his opponents often times he wouldn't finish them off, just play with them and get the decision. On two occasions I can recall off the top of my head when Roy Jones actually would stop punching, look at the ref and instruct him to stop the fight. Some fighters give their opponents mercy when it is clear they are whooping their ass.
Another reason you can tell it wasn't fake is in like the 4th or 5th round, out of frustration oscar grabbed the back of manny's head and continued to punch him like 4 or 5 times, which is illegal. he did that cuz he was so frustrated that he couldn't hit him. why would he do that if he was trying to lose?
stupid post
And it's bullshit that they would do that to "save the sport of boxing." Why would they let Kelly Pavlik, the guy who everyone was banking on as being amerika's next best star, get his ass kicked by a 43 year old half way into retirement bernard hopkins? surely not for ratings since it did less then 200k ppv buys.
look upsets happen all the time, boxing is very unpredictable. and smaller men have many many times in the past gone up in weight and put on great performances. Oscar has had problems with faster fighters his entire careers, not too mention south paws. Oscar is older, out of his prime, against the pound 4 pound best, fast as hell fighter. shit happens.
