^^you're crazy if you think it fixed. first off, manny isn't golden boy. Second, if it were fixed, i'm sure oscar would like to go out in a competitive fashion, not losing every single round. 3rd, he couldn't hit manny. And yeah, sometimes manny backed off, that's probably a combo of two things: 1). the game plan wasn't to stay inside the entire time (stick and move you kno) and 2). he probably was going a bit easy on him, out of respect. Manny is hella humble, even after the fight saying he got lucky. Manny has done that a lot, not go for the kill when he could have. Shit, lots of fighters do, Roy Jones in his prime is a great example, he was so light years a head of his opponents often times he wouldn't finish them off, just play with them and get the decision. On two occasions I can recall off the top of my head when Roy Jones actually would stop punching, look at the ref and instruct him to stop the fight. Some fighters give their opponents mercy when it is clear they are whooping their ass.

Another reason you can tell it wasn't fake is in like the 4th or 5th round, out of frustration oscar grabbed the back of manny's head and continued to punch him like 4 or 5 times, which is illegal. he did that cuz he was so frustrated that he couldn't hit him. why would he do that if he was trying to lose?

stupid post

And it's bullshit that they would do that to "save the sport of boxing." Why would they let Kelly Pavlik, the guy who everyone was banking on as being amerika's next best star, get his ass kicked by a 43 year old half way into retirement bernard hopkins? surely not for ratings since it did less then 200k ppv buys.

look upsets happen all the time, boxing is very unpredictable. and smaller men have many many times in the past gone up in weight and put on great performances. Oscar has had problems with faster fighters his entire careers, not too mention south paws. Oscar is older, out of his prime, against the pound 4 pound best, fast as hell fighter. shit happens.

^^Well with oscar out, there really are no more superfights left. Not for a while anyways. The only real superfight that could happen (in the U.S) is mayweather/pacman. Other then that there isn't anything that could generate this type of interest.
Ya but Pac vs PBF wont really ruin anything since PBF is retired, so we arent playing with rankings. It's far from happening though. If it does, I'll take PBF anyways. I'll take Cotto over Pac, all day. Personally, I'm not as impressed with the win over DLH as Arum wants me to be.

Pac vs Hatton, once again, putting 2 champs in for no reason. Pac back down to 140? Hatton back up to 147? Catch weight? Hype, promotion, etc. For what, so we can see Hatton get murdered?

Congratulations Manny!

One thing you can't train for is HEART. And Manny has the biggest HEART. Floyd has nothing on Pacman!

Now that Manny has no more of my Raza to beat up I look forward to finally being able to cheer for him in his next fights. There's nothing we Mexican/Mexican American fans respect more than an all out Warrior in the ring and a humble man outside. I've been cheering against him for too long now. Good-bye Mexicutioner and hello Manny. I hope to see him matched with Hatton and Mayweather in 2009. Congratulations, you're the best. It's time for Oscar to "hang em up". He's done too much for the sport to take anymore fights and tarnish an incredible career. He has a great career outside the ring waiting for him.

I absolutely hate DLH, always have, always will. Doesn't mean he's not a great fighter, but he did NOT quit. Give Manny his due. He beat his ass. Oscar had no answer. He was confused, frustrated, and completely outclassed in there.

END OF STORY.

people who think it was fixed clearly are dumb or don't know much about boxing. you've never seen a fighter get old before?? It's not like he looked fantastic against stevie forbes (another true 135 pound fighter) back in May, no actually he looked pretty shitty and almost shot, so it shouldn't be so shocking that he couldn't land shit on pacquiao if he struggled against Forbes who is a C+ fighter

you cant fake an ass kicking. you can take a dive, or make fights more competitive then they should be or last longer, but you can fake an ass beating for that long. and it would be stupid for oscar to WANT to get his ass kicked from the opening bell till when he quit on the stool. what does he gain from that? he was humiliated in front of millions of people. Oscar makes his $20 million from this fight win or lose. he has nothing to gain from getting his ass beat like that. If the fight were to be fixed, why the fuck wouldn't he want to go out looking good? You don't think he would have wanted to win a couple rounds or so? stupid people use common sense.

On top of all this, if Oscar would have won the fight it would have set up a fight with Ricky Hatton, who hatton said wanted to fight, which would have been HUGE... they were talking about selling out Wimbledon. Or of course a possible second fight with Mayweather, which also would have been huge.

Huh? I didn't see the fight but why are all the headlines reading "De La Hoya quit"? He quit on his stool. I just hit up some boxing forums and everyone is saying Oscar quit.
