canelo might be able to, he's technically sound and he's a good counter puncher. However, I just don't think golden boy would want to put him in the ring with such a beast right now. I mean canelo's been hurt against much smaller guys. That doesn't necessarily mean he couldn't win of course, but from golden boy's point of view, I think they'd much rather have a lighter puncher in the ring with him.

Kirkland losing to Ishida was probably the best thing for him at the time. Shit, now that Ann Wolfe is back in his corner, he's looking like the dude who we all thought he might become a few years back.

I thought El Perro seemed to have punched himself out early.

What a great fight!

Oh, and Bute-Johnson was surprisingly boring. Bute-Froch would be a dope fight, even though it's more likely going to be Bute-Ward.

I look at it as Kirkland punched Angulo out early.

Angulo may have been a bit winded after his flurry of punches, but james landed this NASTY left to the body that took his air out imo, and that's what made him first stumble back. Then of course james finished him off at the end of the round.

In round 3 angulo recovered and threw more punches than kirkland, he landed a couple hard, clean ass shots on james in that round but kirkland just walked through them. Re-watching that round, I can see how a judge could give it to Angulo (he threw more). Then in the next rounds james was just imposing his will on angulo, he was just too determined, too much of a beast.

Angulo is known for his great stamina, he's the type of guy that breaks down his opponents with volume punching, never slowing down. So I don't think stamina was an issue, other than perhaps at the end of round 1. James was just in beast mode

No that Kirkland left uppercut that hit El Perro on the chin turned to fight around.

Angulo took that ass whipping like a true warrior. He didn't headbutt or low blow when the fight got hard can you say Ortiz. Nothing but props to Angulo.

As long as the fight is at 154 I would love to see an Ishida rematch. I think kirkland will crush him this time at his proper weight and of course training with Wolfe.

But you're right they will keep canelo away from kirkland, no doubt about that.

I'm sure Ishida would love a rematch with Kirkland. He's been unable to land any kind of significant money fight after icing Kirkland in one round. I'm sure he believes he can beat him again, whether he can or not, and it would for sure guarantee him some kind of money fight if he does it again.

Looks like Kirkland is trying to get a fight with Molina, the guy who just beat Kermit Cintron and arguably beat Lara right before that. If it happens, expect another WAR.

Kirkland is doing man fights right now. Canelo is doing some sugar fights lately! Not hatin, just sayin.

I don't see Kirkland/Molina being much of a war, though I think it'll be a good fight. Molina fights in a rhythm stifling, shut your punch output down as much as possible. He has a pretty good chin though and he gets his punches off while you're not set to punch then smothers you when you are. Should be a good fight and I'm glad Molina's getting a shot at someone that matters.
