with country and punk rock, it could be argued that there have been contributions from blacks. Hell, the banjo, one of the most common instruments in country music, was brought to america during slavery by slaves. And punk rock is a derivative of 70's rock & roll, which as we all know had a very strong black influence although it was dominated by whites. Although there have no doubt been contributions by other races, I would have to say yes, country and punk are white art forms, the same way hip hop may have had some contributions by other races but is a black art form.

I dont think there can even be a debate over wether or not salsa is latin music. And just because a chinese guy plays some salsa on his piano from time to time and likes to salsa dance, that wouldnt make salsa a chinese artform.

I'M SORRY...DID YOU PERSONALLY HELP THE HIP HOP MOVEMENT WHEN IT WAS BEING CREATED, DID YOU INVENT POP LOCK OR PUT THE FIRST GRAFF PIECE ON THE WALL, DID YOU INVENT VERBAL PUNCHLINES?
THIS ARGUEMENT IS SIMILAR TO THE ONE WHERE BLACKS TRY TO THROW AMERICAS HISTORY OF SLAVERY IN THE MIX, AS IF THE WHITE PEOPLE OF TODAY HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE SLAVERY OF PAST...BUT STILL WE HEAR AN EARFULL ANYTIME SOME1 FEELS IT CAN BE USED AGAINST..
AMD LETS ANALIZE THAT A LITTLE DEEPER, THE MAIN REASON WE WERE ABLE TO EXTRACT BLACK PEOPLE FROM AFRICA IS BECAUSE THE HEAD TRIBESMEN WERE WILLING TO GIVE AWAY THEIR FELLOW MEN FOR A COST..
AND YOU AIN'T SEEN ONE CANOE COMIN BACK TO RESCUE ANY OF Y'ALL HAVE YOU..
WELL THIS IS SIMILAR TO THE HIP HOP CULTURE IN THE WAY THAT, YOUR ORIGINATORS DECIDED THEY WANTED FAME AND LUXURY, SURE IT COULDA STAYED IN THE GHETTO FOR ONLY YOU TO HEAR, BUT WHO WOULD GET PAYED FOR THAT?INSTEAD THEY ACCEPTED DEALS FROM THE "WHITE DEVIL" AS SOME ASSHOLE BLACKS WOULD SAY AND BIT THE BAIT, THEY EXPOSED THEIR CULTURE TO THE WORLD AND MADE IT AN OPEN CULTURE, WHICH I FEEL 100% THAT HIP HOP CULTURE SHOULD BE OPEN TO ANY RACE, BECAUSE ITS A MENTALITY AND A WAY OF LIFE. BUT THEY DID LET IT BE OPEN TO ALL, AND AS LUCK ( OR BAD LUCK TO THE GUY WHO STARTED THE POST ) WOULD HAVE IT THE PEOPLE WHO BECAME EXPOSED TO IT INCLUDING WHITES, BLACK, YELLOWS, ETC ENJOYED IT AND ACCEPTED IT..THIS FORM OF MUSIC NOW ALLOWS ANY1 TO EXPRESS THEIR FEELINGS THROUGH FLOWS AND PUT THEIR PAIN OR PLEASURE ON PAPER FOR THE WORLD TO RELATE TO, AND YOUR TELLIN ME THAT SHOULD BE LEFT EXCLISIVELY TO BLACKS?.. I MEAN IF YOU WANNA TAKE AWAY THINGS BLACKS CREATED AND KEEP IT FOR YOURSELVES IMAGINE HOW IT WOULD BE IF THE WHITES TOOK AWAY WHAT THEY INVENTED AND MADE IT ONLY FOR THEM TO USE, ALL YOUR SPORTS WOULD BE GONE, NO BASKETBALL FOOTBALL OR BASEBALL FOR ANY1 CEPT WHITES, NO TV, NO CARS..HOWS THAT SOUNDIN, SINCE YOU WANNA TAKE BACK WHAT YOU CREATED WHAT IF WHITES TOOK THEIRS BACK..I'M SURE IF THAT WAS THE CASE YOU'D BE BEGGIN US TO LISTEN TO YOUR RAPS..
JUST REMEMBER WITHOUT ANY OF THE OTHER RACES, YOUR RACE WOULD NOT HAVE HIP HOP AS A TOOL TO FLOURISH WITH..
SO HOW BOUT INSTEAD OF GIVIN US OTHER RACES SHIT, THANK US..
CUS WITHOUT EVERY1 RACE WHO PARTICIPATES HIP HOP WOULD NOT BE WHAT IT IS TODAY...

P.S.
TO A.K.A
I HOPE WHEN YOU DIE YOUR HELL ONLY PLAYS COUNTRY MUSIC AND SQUARE DANCING
Great post!!!

No it isnt shitting on other races. It is stating fact. An example of shitting on other races would be something like "Fuck those crackers for stealing rock n roll." Nobody is saying anything like that here.
it is shitting on other races...and that quote would be not only shitting on whites but also be racist

what you're saying is that ONLY black people created hip hop, but there are too many other races, latino in particular, that helped BUILD and CREATE hip hop. and you're trying to say that Hip Hop is only rap music, but you forget that hip hop doesn't just involve rap. its also breakin, turntablism, graffitti, beatboxing, and its own distinct fashion.

As far as the rock music thing, I think most people with any kind of musical knowledge knows that a black person created rock, but shit, can you really look at rock music and say that its black music? besides bloc party, I can't think of any recent rock band with a black lead singer in almost a decade.

If you're talking about dominating, since most rappers are black and almost every successfull rapper or rap group (with the exception of eminem, beastie boys, and vanilla ice) have been black, then you may as well say basketball is black, hockey and football are white and baseball is latino. its ridiculous right?

I'm finished trying to get thru to you, a closed mind never wants to open up to anything, especially realizing they're wrong.

Trill but thats like everything, if you look though history aload of black shit has been stolen so im not suprised. 100 years or so and they will be saying a white dude invented rap. Look at most popular forms of music origins and look where/what they are now.

On a side note did you know they are changing the face of the Spinix in Eygpt?

A white man invented electricity, FUCK WE CANT USE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!! a latino invented the "0", FUCK WE CANT DO MATHH ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A black guy invented the traffic light, FUCK WERE ALL GONNA DIE AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION!!!! and why BECAUSE THIS GUY SAYS SO!! cmon man, no ones saying a black dude didnt invent hip hop, things are created by an environment and that black guy that made hip hop was surrounded by an environment of all of us. If anything black people should feel flattered that they have such a big impact on our culture. Am i getting mad at you for all the LA Rappers that wear khaki suits and push lowriders?? Thats Mexican shit and you know it but am i trippen?? I dont give a fuck! Gangbangin is Latino shit, check the resume, but am i saying anything about the bloods and crips? I dont give a shit! Just cuz i invented the fuckin burrito dont mean im not gonna share the recipe. And damn near 80% of all engineers, producers, CEO's are not black and these are the people who help push hip hop to where its at right now.

it sounds almost like you said black AND PUERTO RICAN, but I could be wrong, let me re-read it....yup, it does say puerto rican....so that means, unless puerto ricans originated from africa then that would make hip hop a black AND LATINO artform....and yes I know all human life began in africa, since that will probably be the next arguement, but if thats the case then everything is black including salsa music and fucking polka...but fine, if you all think that latinos, whites, asians, and everything/anything else didn't didn't take part in creating or aren't pillars in hip hop, then fine...its pointless for me to keep pointing out the same thing over and over again

what side are you arguing? If hip hop was not what it has become, many people (of all races) would argue that that would be a good thing.

My mistake, I directed you to the wrong post. Anyway, the post I said you should read again is the one where I basically said i dont care if other races want to particiapate, thats beautiful, but its still black. yes Puerto Ricans had a hand in it, but be honest, its overall a black artform invented by blacks with minor contributions from other races. I'm talking about rap music, not hip hop "culture." Yes, there has been much more contributions to the "kulcha" in terms of dance and graf writing and all types of other shit that I aint talkin about.
Nobody seems to want to answer my question though. Say a chinese guy enjoys and participates in a mariachi band, does that make mariachi anything but mexican? Not the way I see it.
See most of yall are misreading and misinterpreting what Im sayin here. I aint sayin no other races should play, Im just sayin dont disrespect it by tryin to rewrite its history. Be real, your parents wouldnt claim rap as theirs or part of their culture. How did it become yours? I know mexicans is some real proud people, real proud of their culture, so when did rap become a part of mexican culture?
