lately when my computer freezes. im forced to turn it off by unplugging and then plugging it back in since the alt and del don't fuckin work. then after that windows wont start up for me. instead of seeing the blue dell screen all i see is a black screen with a white "__"(line) at the top left of my computer screen. after a minute of this flashing it then say "insert boot diskettE"

what does that mean?

Hey man if your pc freezes, never unplug it. Push the power button in and hold it for 10 seconds. The machine will powere down in a different fashion then unpluging it. I recommend you fully reformat and reinstall your operating system. From what you have told me about your system already and the problems with installing programs (and extracting zip files) you need to.

how do i reformat? reinstall operating system.
do i need my windows installation cds?

Alright i found my window data cd's. im about to do this. however im a little weary about what files and stuff i should save before i reinstall windows. Also including my internet... i have comcast internet. DO i have to reinstall my internet before i start reinstalling windows? Someone give me some advice on how to save my stuff before reinstalling and what stuff should i save.?

Anti-virus companies are advising that everyone scan their machines before February 3, when the destructive virus known as Nyxem will delete a multitude of filetypes.

The virus has picked up a few names along the way, and is also known as: Blackmal, MyWife, Kama Sutra, Grew and CME-24. Spread by email attachments promising pornographic material, the virus will wait till the 3rd of each month to wreak its havoc.

Once a machine is infected the virus searches email address books for targets, and even other PCs on the local area network.

Files will be deleted if they are of the following types: DMP, DOC, XLS, MDB, MDE, PDF, PPS, PPT, PSD, RAR and ZIP.

There are plenty of anti-virus solutions that won't cost you a penny, two of which are Grisoft's AVG and AntiVir.

nope, comcast is onlin the minut your pc turns on

no installation necessary, might jus wanna back up anything like programs or music u might have

ay download nod32 offa www demonoid com thats hella bettern then norton antivirus, the best one i ever used. How do you choose to disable programs at startup u no wat i meen, like my msn n yahoo shit starts up n the beginn and it slows the computer down. If u want that nod32 im gonna try to upload it.
