Its not Bay Rap. Bay Rap has the best Rap Game out when its comes to underground hustlin and style, but the only thing we need to recognize is that mainstream radio forgets that we got talent to bring the disobeyish heat to the radio. We are very underrated in a major way cuz we are too real and creative for these corporate radio execs in NY to understand. The only thing that sucks s the mainstream radio that is stealin from our hoodz. Its the freakin' mainstream radio owned by East Coast Catz that only help East Coast music. We got a lot of major talent in the Bay, but a lot of these radio stations are managed by East Coastaz that stick to East Coast shiiet. Nothin' against the DJs or the people who work at these mainstream radio stations because they have to do whatever their boss says when it comes to what songs get played or not. Much props to all the mainstream radio Djs trying to change the game by helping the Bay get their time to shine in the radio after realizing that there is a movement to recognize the Bay.Just my two cents after finding this thread.

People seem to really be into these childish trash no talent needed to make beats that have like 1 noise, an 808 and a hand clap. Lazy brained ass niggas. Shit sucks. Everything sounds the same. Rack City, A Millie, She got a Cake on her, My Beat Bang, etc etc etc. GARBAGE

Damn, an old azz thread.

DJ Pimp said some real spit on the previous page that I can feel 100% cause I've been around folks from other cities, states, and countries. His post was from 2005, and seems relevant since '99... I got a similar reaction back then when I was bangin' some Bay rap around fools from NY, Virginia, Michigan, Colorado, etc. They were jokin' like it sounded early 80s (or ancient) when it was actually from the mid 90s.
Since then I realized, a lot of people outside of the Bay don't feel Bay rap/hip hop. Too $hort and E-40 are the most known Bay artists outside of the Bay, yet they don't get the support from the Bay like they should. Every now and then there are some folks who actually feel some of the Bay music, but won't go out of their way to buy it. If I'm bumpin' it they'd acknowledge it's tight, but that's about as far as it goes.

Then I've ran into a select few who actually did listen to some Bay or Sac rap from other states or SoCal. Seen more people feelin' Sac Town rap more than the Bay though... Lynch, C-Bo, X-Raided, Mr. Doc, etc.

All in all, not all Bay rap sucks. I think the Bay needs to be seen in a new light, like how Hyphy was. The Bay got mad exposure then, but got over saturated with the Hyphy bandwagon, gimmicks, and overall ignorance.

This definitely wasn't true in the mid-90s though - most of the hip-hop in both the South and the Midwest had a lot in common with the sound of music from the Bay. It was different most of the time (which was a good thing) but I have hard time imagining how people from Michigan or Coloradi would not have like the music from the Bay. The East Coast is a different matter, of course
