This was back in '99, I was in Florida and like that's where these fools were from. The dude who was from Michigan (Detroit to be exact) was actually bumpin' some Lynch, and at the same time bangin' Esham and Natas from the D so it explained why he like that ripgut style. On the other hand, he didn't feel the Bay shit I was bangin'. Dude from Colorado (Colorado Springs) was into reggae and mainstream so that explains that. On another note, this other dude from Detroit was feelin' Agerman's Success the Best Revenge, said dude was kickin' some real spit; but never went out of his way to cop it or ask for a copy.
So yeah, just cause the sound was similar didn't mean they were feelin' it. I've been around fools from Down South and back then some said that the only thing the Bay had was "I Got 5 On It." Aside from that, they've only heard 40 and $hort. That explains the Bay on a mainstream level, but as far as the underground/independent level that's what I've experienced.
