Fuck, why does it even matter anymore, the best sound the WestCoast ever offered was G-Funk along with the Bay Area Mobb Funk, but that sound is long gone now. As much as I would love it to come back to the mainstream, with Hyphy, the 50Cents of the world, the Snap music, Blow The Whistle songs,etc..etc..., $hit ain't coming back. It's just a business now, true quality music from the heart ain't coming back anymore, unless some step up and put an end to this bullshit. So I ain't feeling much of the new $hit "musically" anymore other than Ecay Uno's $hit. Wake me up when someone puts that classic hi-pitched synth lead sound in their beat with a phat ass bassline and some piano/guitar chords to go along, then I'll know for sure it's WestCoast.

One song though that really defines the WestCoast's sound for me though is "Black Superman by Above The Law." This beat is crazy, some true WestCoast $hit.

That's exactly the problem. They think their doing good, yet their teaming up with some wack fuckers in the process. Bottomline is that the old WestCoast sound is boring to a lot of people now, therefore they like this new Southern or Hyphy sound that's more hyped up and faster tempo. I say the fuck with that though, I like to hear real music regardless if it's truely dancable or not. Take a song like DPG's "Cali Iz Active," this song should have been a big hit because the beat had Oldschool Westcoast written all over it, but it really wasn't, the same with a lot of beats on the Game's new album, but $hit was overlooked as well. I hear more Akon getting play than anything. :dead: People are fucking weak these days.

Me personally I think that the westcoast sound can't b limited to one dude. When I think classic westcoast beats that made you want to copy cali lifestyle , really comes from the years of 1989-1995 and If you do that you gotta include
Dj Quik ( overall, the most underated producer in the game, not just westcoast )

Battlecat ( his sound defines southern cali " gangbang" music in my opinion )
Dr Dre ( NWA,EAZY E,D.O.C, he defines westcoast rap from the start )
Rythym D
Ant Banks
Cold 187um
Warren G
Daz
Prodeje ( south central cartel )
These dudes beats is what reminds me of living in Northern Cali back in the early nineties, and my homeboys down here ( Dallas ) bring up the songs by these cats when we talk about middle school/high school days

Along with everyone mentioned in this thread, I'm liking the sound that Ces from the West and Huero Snipes is bringing to the table for the 310 West Ent. camp. Some straight up 90's type of g-funk.

Dago is the last place for the West Coast sound no doubt, LA aint shit anymore...So I gotta say Cricet (but I was disapointed by his last prods), Ecay Uno and Steve Vicious. Special mention to Mackvillin (very underrated producer IMO)

Regardless of what you might think about his business ventures. You can't deny that he is one of the most influential West Coast producers, or producer from anywhere for that matter.

The only reason why I didn't mention Dre is because he sort of ventured off into his own orchestral type sound, and strayed away from the classic Funk sound that The West is known for. Not saying thats a bad or a good thing, but thats the route he took.
Aint part of that because he aint fuckin wit westcoast artists tho. When he was wit death row and strictly fuckin wit leftsiders his shit was the definition of westcoast. Even after he start fuckin wit eminem his shit was still crackin now i hear a dre beat im like whatever. But to each his own tho right? I never said he wasnt influential as far as prducing he's a pioneer in my book but maybe if your asking me who's sound defines the west right now i cant say dre. But again thats just me i respect yo opinion tho homie.

^ No doubt. I hear you, I guess he was more concerened with his label and business in general than he was with the state of The West Coast. Because if anyone could have singlehandedly changed things, it was Dre.

I was just thinking about this actually, cause Dre had somewhat of a busy 2006...I was thinking how much more successful Game's album would've been if the beats Dre did on Busta's and Jay-Z's album...all went to The Doctor's Advocate.

my point exactly you cant be the sound of the west coast if you you fuckin off yo own folks for some niggas from the other side. How you gonna tell the "West Coast Savior" As some people call Game That you aint fuckin wit him because of his beef with a nigga signed to Eminems label. Thats like sayin 50 callin the shots and dre just the man behind the music.

Nigga have been hanging out with Bobby & Whitney??? The whole west coast aint hyphy. I listen 2 tons of West Coast music & aint none of it hyphy(except Rick Rock). Come on now. If the whole West Coast iz hyphy then the whole West Coast haz a "Coon Movement" that no one told me about cuz thatz what hyphy iz 2 me. Rick Rock iz the only exception but hiz beats are more then just hyphy & hiz beatz are the only Hypy beatz that I like.

Now Droop-E haz some cool beatz & he iz improving but hiz sound does not define shit.
