FYI: my family has been laker fans since the early 80's, I am 25, bout to be 26..so you do the math..i know a thing or two about basketball and about the lakers
well for one, no one is questioning your basketball intelligence. but we're talking about the lakers this season, not 26 years ago.

and is that quote supposed to mean something? my family has been laker fans since the late 60s...

Should've made the last paragraph bold as well. Congrats to Steve, well deserved.
Agreed.
Kobe wasnt robbed, he didnt do shyt but score a lot of points this season. He got the Lakers to one of the last seeds in the playoffs, thats what superstars supposed to do, he dont deserve nothin special for that.

hahahaha tell me who he can pass it to!!
We wouldn't know if anyone is any good because Kobe doesn't let them get a shot off!

but for real though, it doesn't matter who he has playing with him. Nash makes everyone better and involves the whole team, even when they are not top caliber players. He deserves the MVP just as much as anyone.

All these cats who say Kobe is selfish and he doesn't pass the ball... don't watch close enough. Kobe does pass the ball and he does set his teammates up for good looks. He can't help it if Kwame Brown fumbles the ball out of bounds or Smush Parker clanks alley hoops. First it was he doesn't pass the ball, now it's he's passing the ball now because it's the playoffs. What position does Kobe play? Point guard or shooting guard? Shooting guard right... so his job is to shoot the damn ball. He's not a point guard. And the reason he had to score so many points was because Lamar Odom was getting used to the triangle offense. The whole squad had to get used to the triangle offense. So why they were having a hard time adjusting Kobe had to score to keep them in the playoff hunt. Now that they're used to the triangle offense, Kobe doesn't have to score/shoot as much. His teammates now are making shots. Look at Lamar Odom hitting clutch three pointers....Kobe had to carry the load during the season that's why he should be MVP. Now he can pick and chose when he wants to score because his teammates are making "themselves" better!

And what happened last night? Nash's teammates weren't making shots they normally make right? So Nash had to score to keep his team in the game. Look at the stats. When your teammates don't make shots you as an MVP (Kobe, Nash) have to pick up the slack. Why keep passing if your teammates aren't making shots? Doesn't make much sense to me. The bottom line is winning! Do what you have to do to win. If your teammates can't put it in the hoop step up and put it in your damn self!

...i'm a Laker fan of 20+ years, and I have no gripes about Nash winning the MVP...woulda been nice if Kobe coulda won it (he certainly did enough to deserve it), but the truth of the matter is that Nash's teammates are the same caliber as Kobe's teammates, yet Nash has made them better performers...straight up...

I hear you but I gotta disagree because I am having a hard time understanding how a player "makes" his teammates better. I think it's the players that makes themselves better. Lamar Odom has gotten better. So does Kobe get credit for making Lamar Odom better? I think Lamar took it upon himself to make himself better.

I havent missed a laker game all season and maybe missed 3-4 games in the past 5 years, and ill tell y'all this much, Kobes teamates are young, inexperianced, and at some instances undeserving to play at the nba level. Lamar Odom has been underachieving 3/4s of the regular season, and single handedly lost 3-4 games (e.g. road game against Sac-town, Lakers up 4 points with 30+ seconds on the game clock, full 24 on the shot clock, Odumb doesnt run the clock, instead he drives 3 seconds into the shot clock and gets a charge. Turnover Sactown takes advantage, Lakers lose). They have 2 nbdl players running the point (smush and sasha) And if you actually watch laker games, its quite obvious that these PG's cant D up, and on Pick and roll defense they are horrific which is understandable b/c they are young. Kwame has avg 6pts and 6rebs the whole year, he just started to play well. The laker bench is non existant, George was the best bench performer by far, Luke walton and cook have been defensive liabilities the whole year. Again these are young players, whom, as the season passed improved. So you have Players on this team who probably shouldnt be in the league on this team.

Also the lakers are the 2nd youngest team in the Western Conference, and 3rd in the league, The younger teams in front of them are Portland and ATL, now let me ask you where those teams stand as of now?? The lakers are tied in a playoff series with the division leader, those teams are tryin to decide who they gonna draft..So this talk about nash having the same calibur of teamates as Kobe is ignorant.

Now the main difference between ATL and Portland and the lakeshow is the Lakers have kobe, and the others dont. And heres another question i'll pose to the nash apologists:

would the lakers be in the playoffs if they had nash instead of kobe??

I think its pretty damn obvious they would be a 30 win team w/nash not a 45 win team. Nash needs good players around him to suceed, Odom would not of meshed well with Nash because Odom needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Plus the lakers dont have the shooters that the suns have (Jones, Bell, House, Barbosa all very competant 3 point shooters, kobe and cook are the only laker players who have been consistant perimeter shooters all year). Now put kobe on the suns, they are a 60 win team, with championship aspirations.
Plus all this hype around Nash has really put Shawn Marion, the true Mvp of the suns, in the shadows, You saw the 2 playoff games right? The suns struggled (and they admitted they struggled in both games) even tho nash had great games, but Marion was struggling. The suns need Marion to be Marion to be the great team they were in the early regular season. Marion having the season he's having should be receiving more credit for carrying this team w/out amare than hes been recieveing.
Per 48 min nash gives up more points then he scores, what kind of mvp does that? B-ball is 50/50, defense and offense. Nash is probably the bes t PG in the league, but thats the most credit i would give him.

Y'all can hate all you want on Kobe, the dudes is the best in the game right now, and 10 years from now, 2006 nba season is gonna be notorious for Kobe droppin 81, kobe droppin 62 in 33 minutes of play, kobe breaking Elgin Baylors records. Nash is going to be a trivia question. Nash can have his mvps, Im sure he'd trade his two MVP trophies and his hair cut for the 3 rings kobe got on his fingers.

1. Nash getting "posterized" was actually, Nash taking a charge.. And naturally, since Kobe busts a nut everytime a call doesnt go his way, got the call. watch the replay. posterize my ass. Nash is 6'3". lol. if you cant dunk on someone who's 6'3" (and took a proper charge) then you shouldnt be in the NBA.

2. Lakers didnt play that good last night.. Suns just played like shit. Period. Get off your high horse, the series is tied

3. Nash is MVP. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Why would a few losers from the 9-1-siccness board have a better grasp over the definition of what an MVP is than the people (who;s JOBS it is to figure this stuff out) who actually voted him in... in a LANDSIDE margin, mind you

4. get your facts right before you come here braggin like the lakers or kobe for that matter have done something worthy to brag about
