you know how many times I've heard that? i can't tell you the last time i went to a friends house and they were really happy they bought the card. Almost always disappointed. There's been some good cards but less than 50% of the time to me.
they were prolly disappointed bc they like mma as much as u do... u obviously dont really care for mma so why do u always try to talk down on it? we obviously dont care what u say lol

Just off the main card .. whoever thinks the fights in bold are gonna be boring .. I'll take whatever it is your smoking. Add in Vera Vs. Silva & Wiman Vs. Miller which look to be exciting fights on paper and you got yourself a good card. A deserving challenger to a title against a guy who's proven himself to be legit against one of the better fighters in the business .. not sure how you can slam this card.

To each their own though..

This is the same as people slamming the Pacman card coming up. Even if you're not a fan of the main event you have Rigondeaux taking a massive step up against 1/2 of last years FOTY, IMO. Jones taking a massive step up against all action Soto Karass, Brandon Rios on the undercard, and even some decent matches on the unseen undercard (hopefully it gets aired).

It's a good time for combat sports. UFC is on an upswing and producing solid fights, IMO, all around and the higher level fighters are getting more and more technical. And I'm sure everyone knows my fanboyism for boxing. I've sat through some terrible matched up years and I can't really complain on what's happening in either sport too much this year.

The logic that ppv buys = the quality of the cards isn't true either. It's just good business and marketing. Von Dutch hats were selling like wildfire at $50 a pop til people snapped out of it and realized they were overpaying for a trucker hat.

At this rate, MMA will be in the same place that boxing is, they'll have to downscale the number of ppv's they put out and put on better shows on network/cable tv

There is not one person I know that REALLY follows MMA that would say this card sucks, if you really know all these fighters and have followed there careers and are into MMA then you would be excited about this card. The people I am talking about is the people that watch all of MMA and follow all the fighters.

UFC
StrikeForce
Bellator
MFC
XFC
KOTC
Dream
Sokengo(most likely spelled wrong)

And I know there's more out there that I'm forgetting.

And no matter who is on the card it can be boring or be exciting, no names to big names. MMA is so diverse and styles make matchups.

I'm talking about people that watch every single card. I work for a cable company so we have every channel so there's a bunch of die hard mma fans there. MMA has always been popular here since one of the very first cards was in Tulsa. Wrestling is also popular here so it's a natural fit for a lot of people here as well.

I live 30 seconds from Buffalo Wild Wings and I could watch any of the PPV's for free. Regardless of whether or not I watch every single fight from every event or not, the cards are just okay. I occasionally enjoy MMA fights but they're not that exciting to me but I'm not a huge fan, that is true. But the MMA fans I know that are HUGE fans even agree that a lot of these cards are wack. Most of the time an undercard bout is the best of the show but either way they're not good enough to warrant them being on PPV, that's all I'm really saying. As long as people are shelling out money for them damn near every month like WWE, they'll continue to do it that way.

actually, I'm not acting like that. I said I can't stand that Dana White acts like boxing is dying because of pay per view yet he promotes 3-5 times as many pay per views as boxing does per year. I think it's bad for the consumer's in a crappy economy. If you feel like you're getting your money's worth, that's great.

THE CARD IS DECENT BUT AFTER THE LAST COUPLE PPV'S IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FREE. SHOULDA BEEN LIKE THE LAST CARD WHERE BRANDON VERA FOUGHT, NOT SPIKE BUT ANOTHER CHANNEL. PLUS THEY SHOULD PUT IT ON FREE TO LET EVERYBODY WHO DOSENT FOLLOW MMA THAT CLOSE THAT THE STRIKEFORCE FIGHTERS R FIGHTING UFC NOW.

I'M A FAN OF VERA AND DIAZ, I LIKE JOSE ALDO AND CLAY GUIDA TOO. IMO THE EXCITING FIGHTS WILL BE DIAZ (ALWAYS EXCITING), CLAY GUIDA, AND SILVA/VERA (THEY BOTH NEED A WIN, AND I THINK VERA KNOWS HE'S DUE TO PUT ON A GOOD PERFORMANCE FOR DANA). PHIL JABRONI FIGHTS R PRETTY EXCITING TOO LOL

Lots of MMA haters on these forums it seems. Boxing fans I suppose.

January 1, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States

Main card

*Lightweight Championship bout: Frankie Edgar (c) vs. Gray Maynard
*Featherweight Championship bout: Jose Aldo (c) vs. Josh Grispi
*Lightweight bout: Clay Guida vs. Takanori Gomi
*Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Dong Hyun Kim
*Middleweight bout: Chris Leben vs. Brian Stann

Preliminary card

*Light Heavyweight bout: Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva
*Lightweight bout: Jacob Volkmann vs. Antonio McKee
*Middleweight bout: Phil Baroni vs. Brad Tavares
*Lightweight bout: Matt Wiman vs. Cole Miller

Edgar avenges his only loss against Maynard

Aldo is charged with 1st degree murder against Grispi

Guida smothers Gomi and takes a decision

Diaz gives Stun Gun his first legitimate loss via submission in the second

Leben uses his best asset, his chin, in a slobber knocker which sees Stann losing by TKO in the third

Silva beats Vera.... I'm going with ... a TKO in the first (total guess on this one)

McKee wrestlefucks Volkmann into a boring snooze-fest decision

Phil Baloney Tits loses to Brad Tavares, because he's just too old.

Miller twists Wiman up into a pretzel in the second... submission style.

Jose Aldo Forced Out of UFC 125 Due to Injury

Just days after he was awarded the new UFC featherweight title by Dana White, Jose Aldo has been forced to pull out of his scheduled UFC 125 title defense against Josh Grispi due to an undisclosed injury.

Heavy MMA first reported the news on Tuesday afternoon, and MMA Fighting has confirmed it with sources.

Aldo (18-1), the final WEC featherweight champion, most recently defeated Manny Gamburyan in September. He captured the 145-pound title in November 2009 when he defeated Mike Brown via second round TKO.

Grispi (14-1) was supposed to fight Erik Koch at WEC 52 earlier this month, but was pulled from that fight card following the announcement of the UFC-WEC merger in October.

No word on which bout will replace Aldo-Grispi as the UFC 125 co-main event.

UFC 125 is scheduled for Jan. 1 in Las Vegas. The event, which will air live on pay-per-view, will be headlined by Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard for the UFC lightweight title.

now the vera vs silva fight will move up to the main card
