Some people are just whores for big names. Silva could book a card full of bums he found under a bridge for all I care. I just wanna see some entertaining MMA fights.

What's funny is that most of the best cards I've seen were the ones without the big names on 'em. The WEC cards for example, not a lot of star power, but the fights delivered.

That's all I care about too

That's how everything works tho, ppl think that if there ain't "big names" on a card, that it won't be entertaining...fights are fights mayne and I enjoy watchin em, the more we all talk about this card gets me even more pumped

^ Although I don't think will be the case with Edgar-Maynard. I think Maynard will try to smother Frankie like he did in the first fight, which is really going to be his best chance because Frankie has a huge speed advantage.

Maynards standup has gotten a lot better tho...

But yea ur rite, maynard will smother/grapple him.

I'm just goin wit history or wut usually happens when u have two wrestlers in the cage, they both nullify each others grappling n end up standing and trading

MMA fans get all butt hurt if i say it's not a good card but UFC consistently puts on bad cards that have no business being on ppv. MMA fans should stand up and stop supporting bad ppv's. Dana white talks so much noise about the bad business of boxing but he's crapping on his consumer by having cards like this on ppv.

No, casual fans think that way. Real fans know which matchups on paper promise to be good fights. Such as lopez/marquez from this last weekend or abraham/froch. you just know when a certain fighter is going to run from another or try and stink the place out but if you're a casual fan, you may not know that and you buy ppv's for big names and you'll be disappointed.

Can't agree with this here.

The reason why the UFC has been consistent in selling PPV's, is because more times than not, their cards deliver.

If what you're saying is true, than the company wouldn't be growing at the rate it is now. It isn't about fans supporting bad cards. There are so many UFC cards a year, that it isn't a thing to skip the one you aren't feeling as much.

Joe Silva is awesome at what he does, and that's because he almost always makes the best fights possible. Simple formula, but its what keeps fans shelling out their dough.

This is a damn good card, if you really pay attention to MMA.

Leban will never put on a boring fight, Diaz will not put on a boring fight, Aldo is considered one of the top pound for pound fighters in MMA, all that plus a LW title fight, seriously, if your a fan of MMA this card is solid as hell.

Plus there is Thiago Silva, which was on a 13 fight win streak before losing to Machida, and his only other loss is to Rashad. If you are into MMA and follow it, this card is really good.

you know how many times I've heard that? i can't tell you the last time i went to a friends house and they were really happy they bought the card. Almost always disappointed. There's been some good cards but less than 50% of the time to me.

The logic that ppv buys = the quality of the cards isn't true either. It's just good business and marketing. Von Dutch hats were selling like wildfire at $50 a pop til people snapped out of it and realized they were overpaying for a trucker hat.

At this rate, MMA will be in the same place that boxing is, they'll have to downscale the number of ppv's they put out and put on better shows on network/cable tv

In this case it is true.

The UFC has around 10+ PPV's a year. Practically, there is a UFC PPV event every month. You don't think that having good cards has a lot to do with people consistently buying these cards?

They have the 18-32 year old male demographic on LOCK. These aren't random new fans tuning in each month, this is their own fan base who are buying these events. (A lot of us who post here included).

A month is not a very long time to get the sour taste of a bad card out of your mouth.

I get the fact that you're just not a very big MMA fan. That's obvious, but for most of us here, we're happy to shell out the dough with a few buddies to watch these cards. And I think most of us would agree that the UFC cards deliver more often than not.
