give bengie the 2 years, since theyre not gonna go after free agents...start to platoon posey, give him bengie some rest here and there and over the 2 years posey will start to play more.
No way they offer Bengie more than a 1 year deal, they're going to offer him arbitration and if he decides to sign elsewhere...we'll pick up two draft picks...

^^^no ur right thats why theyre interested in torrealba...they wanna give either catcher only a year...

According to Jayson Stark of ESPN.com, free agent first baseman Nick Johnson is "drawing lots of interest" this winter.
Johnson, 31, had the highest 2009 on-base percentage of any hitter on the market this winter and an overall batting line of .291/.426/.405. His agent, Rex Gary, told Stark on Monday that more than six teams have expressed interest. The Mets, Giants and Mariners are likely among those clubs.

The Giants are interested in free agent catcher Yorvit Torrealba, according to MLB.com.
The club is preparing for the departure of Bengie Molina, who is seeking a multi-year contract. The Giants are only prepared to offer a one-year deal to Molina, because of Buster Posey's presence. Torrealba declined a two-year, $4.5 million contract from the Rockies after posting a .324/.373/.394 batting line in the second half of 2009. It's unclear, then, how he would respond to a one-year offer from San Francisco. Torrealba is a Type B free agent.

Free agent Jermaine Dye is open to switching to first base, according to Foxsports.com.
Teams have been asking Dye's agent if his client would be open to the switch. The answer, evidently, is yes. Having an open mind to playing first base, or becoming a full-time DH, should increase Dye's market value a bit. The report suggests that the Braves, Mets, Giants and Orioles could be interested in Dye as a right-handed bat at first.

Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker reports that Japanese left-hander Hisanori Takahashi is drawing interest from major league teams.
Takahashi, 34, recently declared himself a free agent after completing his 10th season with the Yomiuri Giants. Newman cites reports out of Japan that have linked him to the Giants and Rangers, however he has been quoted as saying he'd like to end up on the same team as former Yomiuri teammate Hideki Matsui. That's probably unlikely. Takahashi was 79-66 with a 3.70 ERA in 245 career games for the Giants. Though he was a starter in Japan, Newman thinks that the soft-tossing lefty is best suited as a reliever in the NL West.

Johnson may get on base a lot, but we need more power from that spot...a .405 SLG% from a corner infielder isn't gonna cut it, especially if they aren't a good defender.

I doubt he'll listen to a 1-year deal from us, we should look at someone like Rod Barajas or Pudge Rodriguez...

I like Dye, but don't know about having him at first and in his declining years...

IMO...We don't need bullpen help, if we need to fill some spots we have a lot of good internal options.

if the Giants offer him arbitration...........and he rejects it to be a free agent ..............no team will sign him..no team will give up 1st round picks to sign Molina.....no team!

The Giants ARE going to offer arbitration to Molina, I doubt he accepts though...there is enough interest in the market for him to get a 2-year deal.

Texas Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz getting lots of trade interest

By Mark J. Miller

Texas Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz(notes) made "only" $418,000 this year while hitting .260 with 33 homers, 76 RBIs, stealing 20 bases, and scoring 75 runs. That low, low price and high production have apparently gotten the 29-year-old Cruz interest from "several teams" who would love to trade for him, according to FOXSports.

But that low price and high production are also making the Rangers loathe to trade Cruz. So the fella who became an All-Star for the first time this year is very likely to be back in the Texas Rangers outfield next year.

Some teams that are believed to be interested include the Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, and San Francisco Giants.

Tim Lincecum, who is arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter, will pursue a one-year contract, according to his agent Rick Thurman.
"As of today, we'll pursue a one-year deal," Thurman said. After being named the NL Cy Young in consecutive seasons, Lincecum will surely shatter Ryan Howard's previous record of $10 million in his first season of arbitration in 2008. While setting a new bar for arbitration-eligible players will please the players' union, it's a calculated risk on Lincecum's part should he suffer a serious arm injury at some point in the near future.

I don't care how much they pay Lincecum, just pay him.. he deserves a big pay day. Atleast Cain is still cheap.

We need more investors so we can play with the big boys.. imagine if we have a bigger payroll? Bay, Holliday in the same outfield.
