n two weeks, each team must be in compliance with the 2012 salary cap, whatever that number may be. In the offseason, cap compliance is based on the cap numbers of the 51 highest-paid players on the roster.

The Raiders may have to dump more than a few of their top 51 in order to get under the cap.

Based on the “top 51″ report for each team as of February 28, a copy of which PFT has obtained, the Raiders stand at $145.7 million. That’s more than $16 million more than the next team, the Giants.

The full list can be seen here.

If the 2012 cap lands at $120 million and based on the availability of $3.23 million in 2011 cap space that can be carried over, the Raiders still must clear more than $22 million in the next two weeks.

At the other end of the spectrum are the Bengals, who have only $83.5 million in commitments for 2012. The Buccaneers, Titans, Redskins, and Broncos also are under $100 million.

exactly. I wouldnt mind drafting him at all, but I might be dissapointed if we cant get something better, that we need.

IF we still have reece next season, which I hope to god we do, he can fill in the role of being the 2nd and 4th down back if mcfadden needs a breather, or if we need to pick up a few yards on the ground. Reece is fast for a big guy too, id like to see how he compared to bush on the 40yd. I know hes not faster, but id guess hes within a second of bush's time, give or take a few milliseconds.

I think the tandom of mcfadden and reece could bring us back to the garner/wheatley and zack crockett days.

Reece is a restricted free agent, he's not going anywhere.
I don't really care about Bush. He had like 3.2 yards per carry and paying him $8 mil for the franchise tag is not worth it.

Ah nfl football, makes me hope every year. I want mcfadden to not get injured this year and finally get the league rushing title that hes more than capable of winning. I know theres a lot of time between now and next season, but god damn, I want this fuckin team to succeed.

Im already thinking about buying season tickets this year... 430 dollars is like a months work... Any of yall get the letter yet? I got mine, still sittin on my desk unopened lol

Turbin is special, remember I told you this. He is going to tear it up in the NFL. If he is there in the fourth round still, which I doubt, we would be stupid to not take him. This kid is the real deal, period.

Given McFadden and Taiwan jones injury problems, we need another back if Bush doesnt come back. Reece is an option in certain situations, but to valuable at full back to risk injury running the rock, imo.

I think Turbin will be a top 10 back in the league when he gets his chance. If DMac can't stay healthy, why not? I want to win football games, however we need to get it done. I know you feel the same.

thats adam schein and rich gannon talkin to palmer on siruis radio, short but sweet.

im glad he says we don't need to address the receiver position, as i've been reading a lot of people saying we need to address it.

next year will most likely be #1 moore, #2 DHB, and #3 ford. or maybe Murphy beats out ford for the number 3.

the only think that stopping dhb from being better i think is his route running, rich moore is better at than DHB. Moore also goes and gets the ball, as at times DHB waits for it. I hope this team stays healthy on offense next year, we're gunna be something crucial to cover.

JASON LA CANFORA
Raiders to cut LB Wimbley if new deal isn’t reached

By Jason La Canfora |
Published: March 1st, 2012 | Tags: Kamerion Wimbley, Jason La Canfora, Oakland Raiders, Stanford Routt

The Raiders will cut linebacker Kamerion Wimbley if he does not restructure his deal, a team source said Thursday.

Wimbley is due to make $11 million this season, with $6.5 million guaranteed, and Oakland is trying to restructure its budget and get under the salary cap.

Wimbley also has triggers in his deal that execute $19 million in future guarantees if he’s not released before the start of the league year. The Raiders value Wimbley and he is one of few pass rushing options they have, but the team also has lots of money tied up in its front seven and is in a cap crunch.

The Raiders recently released cornerback Stanford Routt to avoid a $5 million roster bonus, however, they then also had to give him $5 million in guarantees they still owed. If the Raiders can’t find common ground with Wimbley on a new deal then they face a similar situation with the linebacker.

Lol Palmer is not next. I think it's been made clear he isn't gong anywhere. I'm not mad if wimbley goes. He had 3 sacks the whole year besides against SD third stringer.

Free agent strong safety Tyvon Branch will receive the Raiders' franchise tag, according to a national report. The deadline for all teams is Monday at 1 p.m.

NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora reported the story Thursday on his Twitter account.

Branch has started 48 consecutive games. Last season he had 109 tackles, a sack and an interception. He was a fourth-round selection by Oakland in 2008.

Report: Raiders want to restructure Wimbley's deal

The Raiders, reportedly $22 million over the salary cap, could cut linebacker Kamerion Wimbley if he does not restructure his current deal according to a national report.

Jason La Canfora cited a team source in reporting the story on NFL.com Thursday morning.

The contract calls for Wimbley to make $11 million with $6.5 million in guaranteed money in 2012.

Wimbley, 28, signed a five-year, $48 million contract last offseason. He had 61 tackles, seven sacks and an INT in 2011.

Wimbley's base salaries for 2013, 2014 and 2015 are $11, $10 and $11.5 million with cap numbers of $11.85, $10.85 and $12.35 million.

Last week at the NFL combine, head coach Dennis Allen touched on the Raiders 'challenge' of having to trim approximately $22 million off the 2012 payroll:

"I would say 'challenges' is the proper word. It's nothing that can't be overcome. And I think we look forward to the challenge. Nothing in life that is ever worth anything comes easy. We really feel that way."
The Raiders saved some money when they released cornerback Stanford Routt on Feb. 9. He was due a $5 million roster bonus.

Routt played just one season after signing a five-year contract. He signed on with the Kansas City Chiefs shortly after his release.
