OAKLAND (FNN Media) — Divorce is seeming more and more likely for the Oakland Raiders and Kamerion Wimbley.
The two sides have not made progress in restructuring his contract, nor does he appear willing to take a pay cut.
The latest on contract talks between Wimbley and the Raiders? No talks at all.
“No outgoing calls and no incoming calls,” his agent, Joe Linta, told Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune.
Wimbley will be due an additional $17.5 million in guaranteed money if he is on the Raiders roster on March 17.
NFLPA records indicate his base salary for 2012 would be $11 million. However, McDonald reported the actual salary was actually $4.5 million.
Regardless, it’s a lot of money for the Raiders to spend as they continue to make room under the cap.
The team recently restructured the contracts of a host of players including Richard Seymour, Carson Palmer and Michael Huff.
Another handful of players have been released, including highly paid cornerback Stanford Routt as well as Chris Johnson.
