both drafted in 2008 so both got 4 years in

they look pretty even to me. I do like the 4 forced fumbles for porter though, means he can tackle, which is a problem with our secondary

those stats don't tell a lot though... how many TDs and yards they gave up will tell you more

Nnamdi's stats were as terrible, but he was a great CB for us

until his last year with us. Everybody was scared to throw his way or whatever, but in the rare occasion they didnt and it wasnt a bad pass he got burned. And nnamdi also couldnt tackle a running back or tight end in his last year with us.

howd he do in philly? I loved nnamdi because he was a great presence on and off the field, an above average corner, and a good leader on defense, but I was severely disapointed with him that last year, and wasnt unhappy we we lost him

nnamdi was great, until his last year with us, where he wasnt himself. Why do you think we didnt franchise tag him?

Idk if we can say that we woulda made the playoffs if we had nnamdi last year... definte possibility though

I dont know about yall, but i like what I m hearing so far. About time we get some people that get football players and 40 times dont translate. If we had 30 less penalties last year we squeeze in the playoffs. If we had Namdi still we would have been, no question. I doubt we lose to Buffalo and detroit with his services on the outside.

if mcfadden didnt get injured halfway through the season we woulda made it to the playoffs 100% no doubt. I dont think nnamdi would have impacted the team that much, cause we still had a shitty secondary and shitty play calling.

It is what is and it aint what it used to be. I just hope that we can move forward this year and have a successful winning season.

We had one of the best secondaries in the league in 2010 when nnamdi was here... Statistically in terms of total yards given up. He made a huge difference

Nnamdi was injured his final year in Oakland, don't forget that.....and he was only released due to the stipulation of a turnover in his contract.....although he should've had at least one turnover regardless

Like i said he wasnt himself that last year. What was it a broken hand or wrist right? Him not getting an interception was the determining clause in his contract that got him released right? dude could only tackle recievers. But when I said he "wouldnt of impacted us that much" I was only comparing him to the impact of mcfadden, which I realize now is a pretty unfair comparison

After seeing how he played in philly I still stand by the way I felt about him leaving. But dont get me wrong, I would love to have him back on our team, and he is still the best corner to play in oakland since woodson.

Turbin worth a look if Bush walks
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Monday, February 27th, 2012 at 8:54 am in Oakland Raiders.

Note: Meant to post this yesterday before signing off for a week but was derailed by a Southwest Airlines WiFi that was slower then the early days of dial-up . . .

The vibe I’m getting is that the Raiders have zero intention of franchising leading rusher Michael Bush, given their commitment to a normal salary structure and the presence of strong safety Tyvon Branch also as an unrestricted free agent. Coach Dennis Allen has talked up Darren McFadden, which means he’s the feature back, and there’s no way the Raiders commit more than $7 million to a complementary back.

And that’s probably what Bush is. He did an admirable job taking over when McFadden’s mid-foot sprain derailed his season, with one of the best games any Raiders’ running back (Marcus, Bo, Napoleon Kaufman, you name it) has ever had again the San Diego Chargers. While it’s conceivable Bush numbers tailed off toward the end of the season because the Raiders became more predictable or the line wasn’t blocking as well, the fact is it happened.

So maybe it’s possible other teams see this during the free agency period and Bush comes back at a reasonable price if there is no big bounty to be had. Usually, however, one of 31 teams will ante up.

If so, keep the name Robert Turbin in mind. He was the subject of my Monday story in Bay Area News Group papers and is a Bay Area product who has flown under the radar after helping two institutions without much of a reputation for football success into winners. He did it at Fremont’s Irvington High School, a perennial also-ran which won a league title and in consecutive years advanced to the North Coast Section finals and semifinals.

Turbin did it at Utah State, which went 7-6 in his junior year _ the first winning season for the school since 1993. After missing the previous season with a torn ACL, Turbin was the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year after rushing for 1,517 yards and 19 touchdowns. Check him out on YouTube and you’ll find him leveling some tacklers and breaking into the open field and finishing some long runs as well. He can catch out of the backfield or downfield. He can block, and at 5-foot-10, 220 pounds has been called the best built back in the draft outside of Alabama’s Trent Richardson.

His high school coach, Bob Spain, called coaching Turbin a “once in a lifetime” experience and said, “he’s what happens when genetics meets work ethic.”

Despite his breakaway runs, which indicates he is faster on game day than in a track setup, Turbin’s 40-yard dash time was a concern. It’s not any longer, as he ran a respectable 4.5 flat at the combine. Whether that puts Turbin out of reach for the Raiders remains to be seen. They’ll pick No. 97 at the earliest after supplemental picks are awarded at the NFL owner’s meetings next month.

If Bush moves on, it seems awfully risky to leave their running game in the hands of McFadden and Taiwan Jones, given their recent injury history. As Allen noted, offensive coordinator Greg Knapp has gotten a lot of yards out of a lot of different runners with different styles.

Turbin is confident _ “A lot of people compare me to Marshall Faulk and Steven Jackson” _ without being cocky. He’s engaging and earnest, a player Spain said never took a day off and lifted the play of everyone around him. He was such a devastating defensive player in high school he was the MVAL defensive player of the year as a junior and Spain advised him to take a scholarship offer to Boise State to be a safety. That means he’d probably be a beast on special teams, a role Turbin said he would love.

The NFL is full of mid-round running backs who flourish in the right system. Keep in mind Bush was a fourth-round pick because of a severely broken ankle at Louisville.

Turbin could end up being that kind of story for somebody.

i was just peepin turbin highlights earlier after reading that article, but i dont think he'll drop past the 4th round, and i think we should address the defense in the earlier rounds that we have picks in, and get a back up rb in free agency

but dude is a beast, big and fast, looked like he had that breakaway speed that bush seemed to lack.

I think when your first pick is that far back in the draft, you just have to pick the best available player and not focus so much on need.. if turbin is that dude, then we gotta take him. he'd be playing on special teams too.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. But a bush on the field is worth more than a mcfadden on the bench.

n two weeks, each team must be in compliance with the 2012 salary cap, whatever that number may be. In the offseason, cap compliance is based on the cap numbers of the 51 highest-paid players on the roster.

The Raiders may have to dump more than a few of their top 51 in order to get under the cap.

Based on the “top 51″ report for each team as of February 28, a copy of which PFT has obtained, the Raiders stand at $145.7 million. That’s more than $16 million more than the next team, the Giants.

The full list can be seen here.

If the 2012 cap lands at $120 million and based on the availability of $3.23 million in 2011 cap space that can be carried over, the Raiders still must clear more than $22 million in the next two weeks.

At the other end of the spectrum are the Bengals, who have only $83.5 million in commitments for 2012. The Buccaneers, Titans, Redskins, and Broncos also are under $100 million.
