KELLY NOT GOING ANYWHERE
Posted by Mike Florio on February 23, 2009, 2:19 p.m.

At a time when some folks speculate that defensive tackle Tommy Kelly will be the next guy who got a bunch of money last year to get the silver-and-black shoe in Oakland, a league source tells us that Kelly will be back.

Just last week, the Raiders converted a $4.5 million roster bonus into a guaranteed payment, reducing the cap charge in 2009 resulting from the payment.

Kelly also is due to receive a $2.5 million salary in 2009.

NOT MAD AT THIS. KELLY WILL BE BACK TO FORM THIS SEASON. DON'T SLEEP.

RAIDERS CUT KWAME
Posted by Mike Florio on February 23, 2009, 6:30 p.m.

As expected, the Oakland Raiders have jettisoned yet another free-agent acquisition from last year’s misguided spending spree.

Gone, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, is tackle Kwame Harris.

The move saves the team $7.2 million against the cap.

Also gone, per Schefter, is fullback Justin Griffith. The move creates another $1.1 million in cap space.

As Schefter reported over the weekend, the Raiders also are expected to cut receiver Javon Walker.

JERRY PORTER MIGHT LAND BACK IN OAKLAND
Posted by Mike Florio on February 23, 2009, 9:22 p.m.

Receiver Jerry Porter, a long-disgruntled member of the Raiders who jumped at the chance to pocket a big-money deal with the Jaguars, could be heading back to Oakland.

Seriously.

The folks at RaiderBeat.com have been banging this drum of late, and given that the folks at RaiderBeat.com have been nailing several Raiders-related stories of late, they’ve gotten our attention on this one.

The latest scuttlebutt is that Porter will explore the market for a few days once free agency opens. If he doesn’t get blown away by an offer from another team, he’ll likely rejoin the Raiders.
