Pacquiao took on somebody that wasn't champion, was/is older, out of his normal weight class, and Pacquiao still got outboxed.

Actually Marquez is a champion and ranked top 5 on the pound 4 pound list. Not to knock Ortiz, but he wasn't even in my top 20 pound 4 pound at the time. Comparing Ortiz to Marquez is silly. Marquez = legend, hall of famer, all time great. Ortiz = a good young fighter coming off one good win (berto). On top of that there was unfinished business between JMM & Pac so I always felt a third fight was necessary. (and it's fitting the way it ended imo being that Joe Frazier just passed away who fought Ali evenly and controversially).

Pac could have side stepped Marquez and fought Ortiz first and I'm sure he would have looked brilliant. Marquez obviously proved to be the tougher fight

He's not a WW champ but he is a current lineal champ at 135. My point was is he's still a champion and a pound 4 pound fighter. Pac could have fought a WW champ in Vyacheslav Senchenko if it was just about WW titles but that would have been a joke of a fight.

This is why talking to some of you is pointless as hell, it's like the most common saying in boxing "styles makes fights" just doesn't register in your tiny brains. Floyd beat Marquez down because for one, he's better than marquez, and two Marquez was forced to fight a style that isn't his style - he was the aggressor walking towards floyd and floyd would just counter his ass when he was coming in. That's not Marquez' game. If you still don't understand the basic concept about styles make fights after all these years you're just a bonehead, period.

bigface you should know that marquez/mayweather is a terrible matchup so dead that shit. not to mention the stunts mayweather pulled for that fight as well. marquez was 2 lbs. heavier than manny fight night so him being too small is irrelevant. since yall believe mayweather's ped's allegations against manny, what yall think about marquez having mr. balco as his strength trainer? should manny have asked for olympic style testing lol?

Marquez is a good match up for Floyd, he's going to make Mayweather look good.

Floyd isn't going to go toe-to-toe. He's going to box JMM (and probably box the shit out of him) and he will box inside when necessary. Floyd is a good inside fighter when he has to be.


Listen, if it weren't for one knock down, I would have Marquez pound 4 pound #1 right now. The guy is a certified beast and he isn't a pushover. But the facts are facts: Floyd has a size advantage, reach advantage, strength advantage, SPEED advantage, defensive advantage, better chin advantage, etc. Like I said earlier, Floyd can do everything marquez can do plus everything marquez cannot do. Floyd is simply the overall better fighter, in ever single category.

The only thing you got really is floyd has been inactive for 2 years. While thats a good point, for all the reasons mentioned above, I just don't see that being a factor. Plus, Floyd is a very special kind of athlete/fighter. There is a reason why he was pound 4 pound #1 and a reason why he's won belts in 5-6 weight classes and is undefeated.

I'm not some Floyd nutthugger either, he pisses me off most of the time, but I cannot deny the man's skills nor can I deny the fact he's the best fighter since a prime Roy Jones (he doesn't however have the best RESUME of active fighters though).

After the floyd-marquez fight:

Mayweather was phenomenal. I have never seen anything quite like that on such a high level fight, look at the stats. Mayweather's thrown/connect percentage compared to marquez. Marquez would have like 60 punches thrown with 4 punches landed in a round. It was astonishing to see an athlete like Marquez get made to look like Corky from life goes on. People thought anderson silva made Forrest Griffin look like an idiot, well Griffen was NEVER number #2 pound 4 pound fighter in the world, marquez was all that AND he gave pacquiao everything he can handle (many believe he even beat pacquiao!).

He has problem with COUNTER PUNCHERS, yes that is obvious based on his style. The same reason Ruberto Duran or someone like that had problems w/counter punchers.

That's a hard one to call. Because Berto show me a lot in the Ortiz loss. Berto was hurt from the 1st round until the and fought himself back in the the fight. He dropped Ortiz two times and too me he never truly recover from the 1st round knockdown. Berto would not be weight drained on fight night, he has real power in both hands, quick hands, and he's a winner mentally. Berto would give Manny problems. I would love to see the fight Berto vs Manny.

Ortiz with that BS he pulled in the Mayweather fight no way. The big lights and Manny's left hook would end his night. Ortiz has all the tools to be great, but he's a head case.
