I'll be very disappointed if Bob Arum makes another Marquez fight next.

At the end of the day Pacquiao is his own man so I can only hope he steps up and does the right thing. He's going to have to act fast cuz I doubt floyd will wait around too long.

Khan, Roach Turn Attention To Mayweather Clash in 2012

Article Link - http://www.boxingscene.com

Amir Khan wants to face Floyd Mayweather in the next 12 months. The 24-year-old light-welterweight world champion says he will be ready to take him on a year down the line, when he has moved up a division. Khan defends his WBA and IBF titles against Lamont Peterson on December 10th, live on HBO and Sky Sports HD, but has begun the countdown to that by calling out the man many consider the best fighter on the planet.

A long-awaited showdown between his stablemate Manny Pacquiao and Mayweather is the talk of boxing but the boy from Bolton, who turns 25 two days before the Peterson clash, would have no hesitation in beating the Filipino to the richest prize in the sport.

But Khan, who has lost just once in 27 professional fights and is a two-weight world champion, believes he can spring a major surprise and end 'Money's' proud unbeaten record.

"A Mayweather fight, you know that fight can happen within the next nine to twelve months," he said. "It's a fight that I want, it's a fight that the public want - it's a public demand fight and also boxing fans would love to see that fight instead of Mayweather fighting someone they know he'd beat.

"Against me Mayweather will have problems and it will be a tough fight for him. By the time that fight will come I'll be 25 - I'll be more mature, more stronger, more experienced. It'll be a perfect time for me."

Khan's claims were backed up by trainer Freddie Roach, just days after Pacquiao disappointed against Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pac-Man was given a controversial majority decision and the trainer admitted afterwards that he does struggle to handle cute counter-punchers like the Mexican and Mayweather. But Roach is in no doubt that Khan has the speed and power to prevail if the fight is made at welterweight.

"That would be a great fight for us," he said. "I would love that fight next if he moves up to 147 because I think Amir at 147 will be bigger, stronger and more resilient than ever and I love that fight."

Manny really is ducking Mayweather.

You think Marquez was a star in Mexico before? Jesus look at this ratings:

The most watched boxing event in Mexico history - Over 43.2 Million

The fight got 31 points on TV Azteca, but at one point it peaked at 36 points of rating.

The number of people that watched the fight was of 43 million 200 thousand people when the rating peaked at 36 points, taking into account that 1 point of rating means 1.2 million of viewers.

"Los puntos más altos de rating que vivió la pelea registraron hasta 36, lo que significa más de 43 millones de personas viviendo, vibrando, con el triunfo negado que tuvo el ‘Dinamita’ en la ciudad del juego y ahora también reconocida como la ciudad de la estafa",

It was the most watched boxing fight in the history of México, beating for the first time the 30 points of rating.

The Pacquiao-Margarito fight, had that record with 27 points of rating, the Canelo vs Hatton fight had 23 points.

TV Azteca was hoping to get 30 points for this fight.

Khan: Manny Should Retire LMAO!!

http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&opt=printable&id=46042#ixzz1dpBED6EZ

WBA/IBF junior welterweight champion Amir Khan is going to advise his good friend, Manny Pacquiao, to consider retirement. Last Saturday, Khan sat at ringside at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and watched him win a controversial twelve round majority decision over Juan Manuel Marquez. The scores were 114-114, 115-113 and 116-112. Khan and Pacquiao are both trained by Freddie Roach.

In an earlier report, Khan revealed that he scored the fight in favor of Marquez by one or two points. He wants to see Pacquiao walk away. Khan feels the Filipino boxer has too much on his plate, between his personal life and his political career, to place his full concentration on being a top boxer.

"I’m going to tell Manny to consider retirement and not go on too long. He has some serious thinking to do – he was lucky and he got away with it against Márquez. The more he fights, the more it might take some of the gloss off his great legacy as the best fighter in the world. Look, he has so much on his plate, and on the strength of this performance, he wouldn’t beat Floyd Mayweather Jnr. For his sake, we have to be honest. He is my friend," Khan told The Daily Telegraph.

Marquez: Ball is in My Court, 4th Pacquiao Fight in Mexico!

Article Link - http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&opt=printable&id=46048#ixzz1dpByYDaO

WBO/WBA lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez arrived to Mexico City earlier today, and received a hero's welcome, with an anxious crowd of over 300 people, including press, radio and television, fans and family. Many carried banners with expressions of admiration and support for last Saturday's controversial twelve round majority decision loss to Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Marquez, who believes he was robbed in the first and second meeting, told reporters "this robbery was more clear." Pacquiao and his promoter, Top Rank, are planning to pursue a fourth clash with Marquez. Despite his disappointment, and talks of retirement, Marquez would consider an immediate fourth fight, but this time he wants the bout to take place in Mexico.

"Now the ball is in my court and I think the [fourth fight] should be in Mexio, under my conditions," Marquez said.

Juan's younger brother, super bantamweight Rafael Marquez, could not believe the result. He watched the fight on television and felt his brother easily won the contest. He also stated that a lot of people are alleging that HBO, the American cable network, had influence on the judges.

"It was an injustice. When the fight was over, my relatives and friends who accompanied me were happy because Juan's victory was unobjectionable. And we were overcome witt sadness when it was announced that the winner was Manny Pacquiao. It's unfair that Pacquiao is protected. Juan has been robbed in three fights against him. Juan is the best Mexican fighter today, and one of the best Mexican champions of all time, and it is not fair to tarnish his career with three unjust defeats. And this was a scandal," Rafael Marquez said.

"Look, right now I can not accuse anyone. I have no proof, but I find it very strange that the judges were wrong. My friends believe the American television network [HBO] is the one that gives instructions to the judges, because they feel Pacquiao is what makes them money. Look, I can not accuse anyone because it's very serious, but there is something behind this and I have no doubt about it. These results do damage to boxing and take away its credibility."

HBO is the Manny dickrider team. HBO is part on the blame for hyping up Manny and making fans beleive Manny has improved his skills as a fighter since 2008. Roy Jones Jr is the best at calling fight for HBO, why do think he never covers a Manny fight, because Roy will tell the truth about what's going on in the fight with no dickriding.

Three reasons why Pacquiao won the fight

Manny Pacquiao had undeniably done better in past fights.

He had forced a boxing champ to throw in the towel in eight rounds. He had finished off an opponent within two rounds through three arresting knockdowns. He had turned the faces of much bigger men into pulp.

In his last fight against Juan Manuel Marquez however, there were no knockouts, no quitting from the opponent, no knees on the canvas.

Pacquiao was supposed to knock out Marquez -- wasn't this his best camp ever? Hadn't he improved in the three years that had gone by since he last met Marquez? Wasn't Pacquiao a 10-1 favorite? Didn't trainer Freddie Roach predict a beating in early rounds?

Instead, Pacquiao edged out Marquez via majority decision in a performance that was close and contested.

Filipinos, and Pacquiao fans the world over, are used to seeing the People's Champ win easily and decisively. In his most recent fight on November 12 however, this wasn't the case.

But it doesn't mean he lost.

Breaking it down

In the end, quite simply, wins are not always crystal clear absent of knockouts, and not all debatable losses are robberies. A technical breakdown of the majority decision shows that it did not warrant the boos or bottles thrown by a crowd that was carried away by how the fight appeared, rather than what actually transpired.

It is essential to understand how fights are scored, to understand that it is not the crowd's cheers or perception at the end of a match that dictate the winner. Style matters, the type of punches thrown matters, technique matters.

1) What's in a score?

At the beginning of every round, both fighters are even at 10-10. If one begins to dominate and ends up winning the round, the winner is given 10 points, while the other gets nine, unless there is a knockdown (in which case the round is scored 10-8, and an extra point is added for any subsequent knockdown, so a second knockdown in the same round is scored 10-7, and so on). In rounds that are judged incredibly even, they are scored 10-10. But the most important thing to note is this: whether the round was won decisively (as with Marquez dominating Pacquiao in middle rounds) or whether it was a close round (as with the beginning and later rounds of the fight), the score is 10-9, sans a knockdown.

Pacquiao may have lost a number of rounds but he also won others -- something the crowd seemed to forget because the rounds Marquez won were more definitive, more convincing. The final score, however, is tallied by adding up the number of rounds won.

ESPN quoted a post-fight tweet by Bob Papa, HBO's "Boxing After Dark" announcer, who explained it most accurately: "Even though feels like JMM won, I had draw. You MUST score each Rd and write it down Then add up at end. 'Feel' & actual score differ often."

2) Stats support the judges

CompuBox statistics show Papa is right. CompuBox, a computerized scoring system used in boxing fights to count and categorize punches, supported the judges' decision: Pacquiao threw more punches, connected a higher number of punches, and landed more power punches than Marquez.

CompuBox works via two operators; in a fight, two operators are in charge of the system, one operator per fighter. Each operator has four keys that they hit every time their fighter connects a jab, misses a jab, connects a power punch, and misses a power punch. Of course, power punches -- punches that are a hook, an uppercut or a cross, basically anything aside from a jab -- are scored more.

Pacquiao threw and landed more power punches than Marquez.

But it was close. Their stat report for the fight reads, "Pacquiao had just a 117-100 edge in power shots landed, while Marquez landed the cleaner shots. Pac was busier, averaging 49 punches thrown per round to 36 per round for Marquez ."

That said, it is interesting to note that when Pacquiao defeated Marquez in 2008 via split decision, the CompuBox numbers showed that Marquez actually landed more jabs and power punches -- he landed 172 total punches out of 511 thrown -- compared to Pacquiao (157/619), even if the latter threw more punches in total. Thus, depending on which stats one looks at, one can argue that based on numbers alone, Marquez may have won the fight.

3) Underdogs have more to prove

The differences were slim, far from the lopsided performance fans usually see of Pacquiao, but when fights are that tight, judges are said to prefer the bout's aggressor.

“The rounds were all close, and when that happens you should give it to the more aggressive fighter,” Roach said after the fight. “Manny was clearly more aggressive, Marquez only tried to counterpunch him."

This is especially crucial for a fighter defending a title. Marquez aimed to take Pacquiao's WBO welterweight title from him. Because of this, as the challenger, he was expected to be the aggressor. This wasn't the case: while Marquez connected a higher percent of total punches thrown, he boxed only after Pacquiao attacked him, throwing counter punches instead of being the one to initiate the exchange. For a challenger, Marquez just didn't do enough to win. And for a defender, Pacquiao didn't do anything wrong to lose.

Hence for close rounds, Pacquiao got the nod, Pacquiao got the 10, and in the end, Pacquiao got the win.

I highly doubt Manny will fight him (Marquez) in Mexico and with the real champs condition.
