Raiders notes; Walker lives up to his billing

OAKLAND – Javon Walker has been an easy target of jokes as a Raider.
For the $11 million signing bonus he received when he signed in March, the team's presumed new No. 1 receiver had only five catches in his first four games with the Raiders.
It also didn't help that former head coach Lane Kiffin questioned the mental state, conditioning and effort by Walker, who offered to return the $11 million and retire after struggling in training camp and being robbed and assaulted in Las Vegas in June.
But for one day, Walker looked like what Raiders owner Al Davis hoped he'd be.
Walker finished with five catches for 75 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders' 16-13 overtime win against the New York Jets at the Coliseum.
"They started calling my number and I started getting passes," Walker said. "They're finally letting me do more."
Walker, who has always said he had good hands, proved it by reaching back to catch an eight-yard pass for a touchdown in the third quarter. He also made a key grab for 16 yards on the first play of Raiders' game-winning drive.
Raiders interim head coach Tom Cable called Walker's play "marvelous."
"I think he just stepped up," Cable said. "I think he played like he's supposed to play and I'm awful proud of him."
The Raiders have searched for a go-to receiver since trading Randy Moss last year. So they'll be expecting more of the same from Walker.
"I know what I (was) brought here for," Walker said. "When you are brought in for a specific reason you don't want to let anybody down. That's my goal."
