I haven't bought an album from the Bay Area in about 1 year. I lost interest in the same lyrics, boring (looping) beats. I'm looking for something fresh with meaning... something that hasn't been recorded in somebody's bathroom (or basement), something without so many features... and from somebody who's being honest, not somebody who grew up in the suburbs or hasn't done anything they're claiming to. Artists need to realize that there is a difference between 'making music' and just rapping over a beat. Enough of the generic shit, anyone can rap over a beat but not everyone can make music. Buying beats that are already made is bullshit, you can keep making albums with beats you bought off of a beat cd from some random producer, but I won't buy your shit if I know you do that. Like it or not there are only a handful of people on this board who have anything more than marginal talent. Most of ya'll are just following trends and doing what everyone else is doing and that doesn't take much talent. What should they talk about?

First of all don't talk about shit you aren't doing. If you haven't killed nobody, don't talk about it. If you don't own it don't talk about having it. Don't talk about carrying guns if you don't carry one. Also it's not really WHAT you talk about but HOW you talk about it. For example 'Scarface - The Fix' is a great album to me, he doesn't talk about anything different for the most part but it's still an original and very good album. The same goes for both of Devin's albums. Tech N9ne's last two albums also don't really contain any new subjects but are still original. Stop doing what the next man is doing. Put some thought into your songs, make actual songs. STOP buying pre-made beats. Pick up some instruments, learn to play if you don't already. I'm tired of listening to cd's for the first time and feeling like I've heard them before. I'm tired of hearing unknown rappers criticize popular rappers, yet they aren't doing anything better. I'm tired of hearing people claim they are going to "change the game". People need to stop being so afraid of trying something new. You can be successful by following what's popular but that just makes you part of the problem. Why should someone buy your album when you are doing the same thing as the artist whose album they've already bought? Give people a reason to buy your album. Give me an album I can still listen to 10 years from now. Give me an album future generations will picc up and still enjoy. If you can't do that stop making music. It's not for you, start looking for a job.
