I'm sorry but Al Hayman is great for boxing. Al Hayman don't rape his boxer for all there hard earned money. Hayman is in the business of making his fighter money. Why do you think Bob hates him some much?? If Smoking Joe had Al Hayman working for him back in the day Mayweather wouldn't have to pay to bury the boxing legend. Think about that before you bash big Al.

Nah man, Haymon is great for the fighter's financial interests but not boxing as a sport. For whatever reason he's able to get huge paydays for a lot of guys who have no fanbase or aren't exciting. That hurts boxing because that money these guys are getting could be going to better fights. There have been sooooo many bullshit Al Haymon fights on HBO over the years that have been nothing but a waste of time and money.

But if you're one of his fighters, I'm sure everyone loves him cause he gets them paid.

@bigface, He's great for boxing?

He's one of the biggest reasons for HBO's budget problems and shitty cards. Parlaying his influence at HBO into a competitive edge for his fighters, yes, that's fabulous for boxing!

Ortiz vs Berto was not shitty at all. Broner last two fights was not shitty. So Alexander vs Bradley was shitty big deal. Wack fights happens sometime can you say Mosley vs Manny. That's not Al Haymon's fault he's not in the damn ring.. His job is to get the boxers paid for fighting.

if it's negative towards pac and supports floyd. then bigface already posted it. lol
Basically what the article is saying is that Bob Arum is blowing smoke, by sending Koncz to meet with Mayweather, he wants everyone to think they're doing what they can to make the fight. And as soon as Mayweather disagrees with something, they're going to use that as an excuse to say Mayweather doesn't want the fight.

And it's not negative towards "Pac", it's negative towards Bob Arum.

yeah right. they're trying to put the blame on manny's camp when floyd is just as much to blame if negotiations break down again. both sides are at fault if this fight doesn't happen.

Why would both sides be at fault? It's obviously Arum. Pacquiao fights anyone Arum puts in front of him and Pacquiao has already said "Let's get it on" when asked about fighting Mayweather. Hopefully Pacquiao is telling Arum to make the fight happen and I think he is. Now it's all on Arum. He's (Bob Arum) too busy playing games talking about Mayweather doesn't want Golden Boy to promote the fight, even if it's true, why leak that out when you're the main one talking about negotiating in public or not to?

why book a venue when you haven't even started negotiations? you do realize that deciding on a venue is always part of the negotiations for a fight? why bring up blood tests when no other fighter in the history of boxing has ever brought it up for a fight and your opponent has never given any reason to doubt he's clean? why demand more than a 50/50 split, when it's clear that your opponent is half of the reason people will be tuning in for the fight? this bullshit goes both ways.

Andre Berto is the epitome of why Al Haymon is bad for boxing.

It has nothing to do with the outcome of the fight, entertainment-wise. I'm talking about him getting these mega paydays and HBO slots for fighters who don't deserve them.

It cripples the network's ability to put on quality shit because Haymon steers all of the money towards his own guys.

Exacty. Berto got $1 million to fight a completely unknown in Hernandez on an UNDERCARD fight. He got big paydays fighting 140 pound guys who weren't even ranked at 147 against Urango & Stevie Forbes. Stuff like that should never happen.

HBO has recently been doing a better job forcing good fights, like forcing Paul Williams (al haymon's fighter) to rematch sergio martinez etc., so hopefully that trend continues.

And I don't mind guys fighting lesser opponents if that's what they want to do for whatever reason, I'm just against HBO wasting money & a good time slot for that kind of stuff. You want to fight a lesser opponent? Ok, fight on an undercard or Friday Night fights, not the main event with a $1 million dollar payday.

Clear duck..... MGM on hold.... Team Manny: we want to fight somewhere else
May 5th on hold.... Team Manny: We want to fight in April or June

May is enough of time for Manny to recover from the loss and the cut that he took.

That's 6 months, how much time does he need? Floyd is ready and has the urge.

HBO didn't force Paul Williams to fight Martinez. Paul asked for the fight, and after the knock out Paul is asking for a 3rd fight too. Berto deserve all the money he makes. I think his fight with Ortiz more then made up for the easy paydays. So no one has a problem with Canelo fighting Kermet for big pay, or Donire fighting a bum 20 pounds less then him for a big payday. But it's Al Haymon fault that HBO blow all of it's money, but yet Top Rank and Golden Boy gets a pass for doing the samething.
Double standards at it's finest.

I don't remember HBO or Showtime stepping up to plate to bury any of the boxing legends that dead. Or helping out any of the old fighters with medical bills. It has been a Al Haymon fighter Mayweather doing all the giving.

My point is Al Haymon is getting money for the fighters and that's great for boxing. Once you can't fight anymore HBO and the boxing fans don't give a shit about you. Just look at the lives of Joe Lewis, Smoking Joe, and the list goes on and on all dead broke and no network or fan gave them shit.
