Joshua Clottey didn't show up to win this fight (as evidenced by the score cards) is what some peeps are saying.
He showed up to win, all uber confident as evident by his gay ring enterance dance, his gameplan failed him and he was getting his ass beat, quit mentally at some point (which I did predict if you recall) and basically gave up and just tried to survive, however he did open up a little bit more in the later rounds.
I'll see for myself when they show the replay on HBO. Clottey's trainer didn't even think he won one round.
I don't think he won a round either, pac dominated. Floyd won every round against marquez too, and I'm sure marquez "showed up to win" but he was outclassed.
When you're outclassed your outclassed, there is little you can do about it. You can fight to survive and have a moral victory of going all 12 rounds or you can decide to let it all go and get KO'd in the process (or you can "no mas" like oscar did). Some guys have balls others guys don't. And like naner said, clottey is who he is, he's not going to change his style mid-fight, that's just not the type of fighter he is.
Let me ask you since you seen the fight. Is it true that Clottey was shaking his head "no" when his trainers were urging him to let his hands go and knock him out?
In rounds 4 or 5 I believe his trainer said, "you gotta take more chances" and clottey shook his head no. It was revealed later clottey felt like if he opened up more he would get KO'd himself.
