i was just asking about the severity of the effects of these olympic style blood tests and why is the three week thing not enough for mayweather if the guy doesnt test positive at that time and doesnt test positive after the fight the fighter should be clean. right?? Is there performance enhancing drugs a fighter can take or inject that between the time frame of three weeks before the fight and after the fight could help a fighter and him not test positive???
well right, plus there would also be unlimited urine samples during this "14-day cutoff" period, and of course there would be urine & blood tests immediately after the fight. So there would have to be some mystery drug that someone could take that is undetected by urine, would only stay in your system for a few days and would have to work incredibly fast. As I pointed out, Pacquiao's training camp is 8 weeks, the final 7-10 days are the cool down period meaning he doesn't lift weights, no heavy work-outs, etc. So for him to use some sort of PED during this time frame doesn't make much sense at all, especially considering he would still be giving urine samples. So again, what drug out there is undetected by urine and would work in just a few days with no heavy work-outs? Even the spokesman for the Olympic Doping Agency can't answer that question and has gone on record saying it isn't necessary to test (blood) during that time frame.

That's good news then.... I think we're going to have a fight. Manny doesn't have a problem with taking a smaller cut and he's willing to take drug tests closer to the fight.

It's time for Floyd to do his part now so the fight can happen!

De La Hoya says Mayweather-Pacquiao contracts are close to being finalized on an interview with Univision. He said that negotiations have been rough but that Mayweather and Pacquiao have realized that his fight needs to happen. Said that he cant talk further about negotiations but that they are really close. I'll post links as they come available.

Article that talks about his comments:

MANILA, Philippines – Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar de la Hoya spilled the beans on the confidential negotiations for the super showdown between top pound-for-pound fighters Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

In an interview with Spanish broadcasting network Univision, de la Hoya said they are “very close in finalizing the contracts that were once very complicated.”

“I think right now we are very, very close in finalizing the contracts. I can't talk right now in detail about the negotiations but I will say that we are very close,” de la Hoya was quoted by TheBoxingTruth.com.

The negotiations are being done by Pacquiao’s promoter, Top Rank, Inc. big boss Bob Arum, and Mayweather’s representative, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer.

“Up until now, it's been a very difficult negotiation process for various reasons but right now we're very close
,” added de la Hoya.

Pacquiao and Mayweather were supposed to face off last March 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. But fight talks collapsed because the boxers disagreed on the drug testing protocol

Pacquiao refused to undergo the Olympic-style drug testing procedure, but reversed his stand as long as the blood test would be conducted 14 days before the fight.

Mayweather, who had been silent since Pacquiao’s agreement to undergo blood testing, then made waves with his pronouncement that he would be taking a break from boxing.

Despite this, Arum said the Pacquiao-Mayweather blockbuster bout was still in the cards.

The two fighters now realize that this fight must be made. It has to be made because the boxing fans want to see it happen and right now it's the biggest fight that can be made in the world,” continued de la Hoya.

The Mexican-American boxing legend, who suffered his last 2 career losses to Mayweather and Pacquiao, stated: “It's going to be a big, big fight!”

Manny Pacquiao & Floyd Mayweather, JR Agree to Fight – Signatures Only Thing Needed on Finalized Contract

The long anticipated fight between Manny Pacquiao, 51-3-2, 38 KO’s and Floyd Mayweather, JR., 41-0, 25 KO’s is a done deal with only signatures needed on the printed contract said a very reliable inside source close to Team Mayweather who has just contacted RSR. This inside source went on to say, “Floyd is very happy that both sides could work out issues that he always felt could be talked out.” Floyd is anticipating on making well over 50 million dollars with Manny making almost the same. Tentative dates being kicked around for an HBO PPV is the middle to end of November 2010 and if this does happen there is no doubt that this fight will be the biggest grossing in history.

In recent articles, Promoter Bob Arum has thrown tidbits out that the fight was very close to being made which back up RSR’s source as well. Arum, recently has been putting fights on in Stadium Venues with great success and the boxing public is craving for this fight to also be in a stadium which without any doubt will be sold out in hours!
