we should be asking about the ones already signed... cause the fate of our favorite indy artist will be on hold like all the rest... I hope everyone mentioned stays indy so we can get a album once a year, not once every 3-5 years

after listening to the frontline's latest album i think they are a group that people could be looking at. they have dope production, e-a-ski and cmt have a lot of talent. lock and left have decent to great lyrics in most of their music, and they can make hits with a mainstream appeal. i would love to see the mob get picked up, or zion i, turfy, quinn, ya boy...really anyone putting out quality projects. and even though there might be a lot of watered down bullshit around, it's pretty easy to find the quality stuff.

Both A&R's asked me if there was anything making waves that "WASN'T" Hyphy music? They wanted to know if anyone was doing Hip Hop or if anyone was doing Gangsta/Reality Music with Lyrical Skill behind it.

What does all this mean? Who knows, but I know as of right now, the Majors aren't about our Hyphy scene [/url]
I been sayin this for the longest. That hyphy shit is dead and never was gonna blow the bay up like a lot of people wanted it too. The shit was just tooo corny. I never liked it. I got the perfect artist to represent the bay like it should be represented...and he aint hyphy. Check the sig.

You clown! Im talkin bout BAY fans not supportin BAY music but at the same time complainin about why we aint as big as we should be. I wasnt talkin bout how other regions support or feel about our music. All them rappers you just named have nothin to do wit my post and matter of fact you damn near just proved what I was tryna say...dummy.

My post is based on soundscan numbers which if you had any knowledge of em prove what I was sayin. For example to this day the bay is not even in the top three regions that supported E40 last album the most. This says a lot when each and everyday people are wishin and dreamin the bay would blow but then in turn dont show the support needed to make it happen. Learn how to comprehend better.

never sign to a major. all majors will be gone in less than 5 years. Independants are takin over. They taught me that at music school in Hollywood. + it scares me you said a & R's cause the average a &r no longer exists. Because they have two jobs find talent and develop that talent, no longer do labels spend time or money on acts they have to be ready and the album must also be ready. Majors are almost more into dist. rather than developing and spending money on albums. Thats just what i learned.
Niggaz is on here ignoring what you saying and continually yearn to get signed to a major, why? Majors is in trouble right now, the whole business model for the record industry is changing. Instead of independent artist taking advantage of the venerability of the majors, people want to jump on a sinking ship. We should be on this board talking about how we are gonna take their place. If you have confidence in your music and your marketing, you can sell DTC (direct to customer) or have one of these online retailers take a smaller chunk than majors would. CD's are a secondary avenue.

u can spit all the flames u want but when it come to the majors u gotta have that catchy shit to make em dance or prepare to not sale shit
If somebody could deliver real sales with strictly "street" singles and do nothing catchy the majors would be all over it. At the end of the day all they care about is money and club shit hooks a large chunk of the market that actually buys CD's.

Dj Pimp and AP.9, I was once again woken up this morning hecka early by an A&R (don't Eastcoast companies know that the Westcoast is 3 hours behind them). It was the A&R in the Sony situation. He told me that he spoke to both of you in a conference call yesterday after I got off the phone with of you. He told me that Dj Pimp you were very professional and you put out there exactly what you wanted which he liked (I wonder who told you to do that, ha ha ha ha). He also liked being able to talk with AP.9, he really likes AP.9's personality and he told me he is doing what he has to do to make things work.
I just want to say no matter if you sign with my dude in the Sony Situation, if you sign that research situation on the side with my dude at Slip-N-Slide or even if you do find out that you want to do that Jive thing, you know what you want and AP.9 now knows what each situation wants from him and so you will be ok going in with your eyes wide open and watching all angles.
2008 will be a "BLESSED" year for our region, and I just want to personally say Thank You to yourself and AP.9 for handling yourselves in the correct way when dealing with professionals within major positions. You guys made me look good, the publication of which I work for look good and the BAY AREA look really good as businessmen whom know what they want, what it takes to record professional music and how to set themselves up for the future. Dude in the Sony situation is already talking about how he can send you and AP.9 out on Tour with one of the other acts that they have to spread his music to a further fanbase. CONGRATULATIONS!
