Just talked to 2 Different Major Label A&R's...

Very smart post that is on point. I talked to them about what they are talking budget wise out this way as far as advance and it isn't a No Limit, Cash Money, Dj DMD type of deal. It isn't even the 3.8 Million type of numbers that E-40 got in like what 1995? But the great thing is that in these Labels showing interest I mentioned it to a rep from Slip-N-Slide Record (Florida) and that got them thinking also (no label wants to be left behind). There will end up being about 2-3 Bay Area artists whom end up with deals in 2008.

never sign to a major. all majors will be gone in less than 5 years. Independants are takin over. They taught me that at music school in Hollywood. + it scares me you said a & R's cause the average a &r no longer exists. Because they have two jobs find talent and develop that talent, no longer do labels spend time or money on acts they have to be ready and the album must also be ready. Majors are almost more into dist. rather than developing and spending money on albums. Thats just what i learned.
u have a good point, but most people who use this as a reference site for info, can see thru all the hate and thru all the bullshit arguing. if there's 20 different threads about keak or messy, then more than likely that gonna catch someones interest. there are thousands of these type of hip hop boards from regions all over the earth, and there are haters and asshole on each of them. u have to wade thru the bullshit to find the real info, but its there
I don't know what group there looking @ but I know it aint Mob Figaz. All the members aren't active right now & the majors aint gonna wait. AP-9 would be cool to dighn as a solo artist. I've only heard Ya Boy a couple times & only been impressed by him just a lil bit. Plus he's sighned 2 BW. Turf Talk gettin a major deal wouldn't really excite me cuz he's trash on the mic. Plus he would need a publicist cuz he says more stupid shit then Kanye West. He'l just have people mad @ the Bay & not fucking with ya'll. No lyrical skills & he says real dumb shit on the regular don't go well.
Is anyone even looking forward for a bay cat to bring up other bay artists into the fold on some features with a major deal? Or they just looking to see their favorite artist make it and if they don't they gonna get sour on it? I just fail to see how anyone coming up with a major is gonna be bad for the bay, I mean...hyphy was shortlived, but it got some folks looking back to the west coast for some new shit. I hope AP makes it up on a major and brings folks with him later on. Get him there dj pimp!
Artist I can see gettin on a major (that aint already signed) are: Ya Boy, Mess, Frontline, and The Team. All these have some sort of mainstream appeal and sound to them.
Now that were on the subject, when can we expect for 1 of the artist already signed to actually realease an album on a major?
