I thought Jermain was a little too cautious with Manny...I think he takes a late KO victory in the rematch. I honestly thought he regressed when he started working with Manny.

Former world champion Jermain Taylor hits a giant tire during media day at the historic Johnny Tocco's Gym. Jermain appeared full of confidence as he prepares for his highly anticipated rematch against world middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik on February 16 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on HBO Pay-Per-View. Taylor said that he did not train properly for the first fight against Pavlik. He didn't run enough or spar enough and thus ran out of gas when he could not finish Pavlik after he had him hurt in the second round. Taylor is now back with trainer Ozell Nelson and has been in Las Vegas for three weeks already. He is running five miles six days a week and has been sparring about fifteen rounds every day. His weight is already at 170lbs.
hahahah he did that cuz he seen pavlik do it. not to take away from what he's doin i just find it funny they show'd pavlik do it before the first fight now taylors doing shit like that

KELLY PAVLIK Speaks!

"I know Taylor wants redemption, he's a competitor, but that may be his downfall. I can tell he is more intent on beating me than on winning the fight and believe me, there is a difference in those philosophies. This fight is my sole focus. I've been watching more tape than I usually do. Jack and I have been working on correcting the mistakes I made in the last fight -- I won't be sticking my chin out in this fight.

The rematch is going to be tough, but I think he has a lot more to correct than I do. I'm having my best training camp ever. Winning the title has added extra motivation to me. It has spurred me to raise my performance to another level...a level I have never experienced before."

The fight being at 166 is more in Pavliks advantage than it is in Taylors. A bigger Kelly Pavlik is not what I would want coming at me if he already knocked me out at 160. Hopefully Pavlik KOs Taylor again so I can see him cave Duddys head in.

win or lose he'll fight duddy if they havent already made it official. his 160 belt aint at stake in this fight. I wanna see a mega super-middleweight tournament.

I knew his title wasn't at stake but didn't know the Duddy fight was made official. Even still I want Pavlik to come out on top against Taylor and still cave Duddys face in. MW/SMW is a nasty division right now with lots a dope possible matchups. I can't wait for Edison Miranda/Jean Pascal to be signed to see how far Miranda can punt Pascals head.

Only with boxing. My football predictions have been horrendous. Also, note that I get all the winners correct, but on two occasions I predicted a KO when the fight was a UD (jones/trinidad, mayorga/vargas). But I was dead on with Mayweather/Hatton (10 round ko!).

But I just now probably jinxed myself :(

Came across this today and its pretty cool to read about the history of the Linear Middleweight championship, must mean a lot to Pavlik to hold on to something like that:

In 1987 "Sugar" Ray Leonard defeated "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler for the WBC title but also for the Linear, Universally Recognized Middleweight Championship. Leonard vacated the WBC title leaving the division fragmented until 2001 when IBF & WBC Champion Bernard Hopkins defeated WBA Champion Felix Trinidad. Hopkins became Undisputed and the first Universally Recognized Middleweight Champion since "Sugar" Ray leonard vacated the Crown in 1987. Hopkins went on to defeat Oscar De La Hoya in 2004 for the WBO Title and became the first person to ever unify all 4 of the major world titles in any weight class. Bernard Hopkins lost all of his Titles and the Linear Championship to Jermain Taylor in 2005. Over the next two years Taylor was stripped of 2 belts but successfully defended the Linear Championship until he was Defeated decisively by Kelly Pavlik on September 29, 2007. Kelly Pavlik holds the WBC & WBO Titles along with recognition from The Ring Magazine as the best Middleweight on the the Planet. Pavlik also inherits the direct legitimate lineage of the Middleweight Championship dating back to Leonard, Hagler, Griffith, Fullmer, Graziano, LaMotta, Robinson, Greb, Ketchel and Fitzsimmons.
